It’s about as real as trickle down economics.
Actually, people don’t play much Tracer, Genji, Winston, Zen, McCree at mid-low ranks.
Players at these ranks use whatever works for them.
That means we see a ton of Reinhardts, Reapers, Moiras, Symmetras, Torbjorns, Bastions instead.
Heroes OWL and pro players just aren’t using. Because “they’re trash”, “broken”, “suck”, “imbalanced” etc.
It’s always been this way, always will be. Stop panicking about Sombra or whoever else has been buffed suddenly taking over because ‘pro players’ use them. It’s not how it works. It hasn’t exactly helped Ana, now has it?

Looking at the stats, even that’s questionable. I think it’s where people are interested enough to try.

Meta is not fashion. It’s a formulated response to perpetual imbalance. It only makes sense to follow meta when you are punished for doing otherwise. If people at your rank are not good enough to exploit imbalances, there is no need to respond to that and you can do what you want.

One thing I love about being a solid gold player is the different and colorful comps, with the whole range of heroes as viable.
It could also be argued that the list for what is disliked about gold is the exact same thing.
