Okay I am lazy so I decided not to do all threads going back years. I decided to limit it to the threads that were active as of april 1st 2020. Please note that I have not included the threads that were purposely troll threads and those that were more curious about the topic rather than supporting a position in the debate.
Also keep in mind I can not list the threads that have been deleted during this time.
Threads in favor of high elves/against blue eyes for blood elves: 14
This post has been revised after Blizzard’s compromise, and now honors the fact Blood Elves are High Elves and Void Elves have RP tools as well for the fantasy. Thank you for implementing.
The Blue eye glow that Horde blood elves are getting are not high elf eyes.
High elf eyes barely have a glow and have a very detailed pupil like Humans and Dwarves. Not the Glow that makes them look robotic like blood elves.

I want to preface this by saying that I am aware of all the current High Elf Threads but they have sadly been overly negative due to the cosmetic changes of blood elves. My personal opinion on this is that there is no reason that would have any true effect on High Elves being added as the request isn’t refuted simply by Blood Elves getting an eye color. I am also aware that some would say that High Elves would look to similar to Blood Elves but I believe they can change them in a way that makes …
Just wanna make sure everyone is aware of the fact that the new blue eyes that the Blood Elves are getting still aren’t even nearly the same as to how High Elf eyes look which actually just look like regular human eyes that don’t glow and have a sclera and a iris.

The blue colorations may be for NPCs only.
If you look closely there are heterochromtic options for green and golden eyes but not for blue.
The amount of eye color options is very large, more than double of what we’ve seen from other races; but if you remove the blue ones it’s almost on par with other races.
But hey, that’s just a theory!

*gets choked to death
I said it on several ocassions, and I’ll stand by my words. I am officially submitting a ticket to remove World of Warcraft off my bnet account. Was a pleasure smiting monsters alongside some of you, but it’s time to put aside my sword and turn to other avenues.
" Blue-Eyed Blood Elves
Ion confirmed that Blue Eyed Blood Elves as a character customization are not planned and just from datamining. Blue Eyed Blood Elves are textures for NPCs, and the real character customizations should be available in the upcoming weeks on Alpha."
Edit: removed the line that triggered people, was supposed to be a joke, oh well…

Can we all please calm down?
Nothing is confirmed. People have datamined several eye colors and glows for Blood Elves, including blue eyes. Nowhere it is indicated whether these blue eyes will be something players can choose or whether they’ll be an exclusive option for NPCs. Dataminers have also found a High Elf skin with blue underwear, nails and jewelry, and that won’t be an option for playable Blood Elves, obviously. Remember that among the Blood Elf files there have always been High Elf …
According to Ion in his most recent interview with Zoltan and Cinderys. Blood Elves will NOT be getting blue eyes in Shadowlands, that was dataminers applying wrong textures.
"Blue eyes don’t really make sense for Blood Elves, they’ve evolved beyond that."
I’m very happy with this decision. I’m glad we have settled that once and for all. Thank you for clarifying this Ion <3

Why is this even a debate or a question?
I don’t play alliance but it’s obvious there is a high demand for that race and at the same time a lot more people play horde so this should help a bit to even out the factions.
Also give alliance the sethrak race, they need at least one cool race to play.

Those against high elves/in favor of blue eyes for blood elves: 18
Told ya…
now end this madness and let’s all play as an elite high elf…IN THE HORDE SIDE !
In the datamining it was discovered that Blizzard is giving Blood Elves a blue eye option. Ion had previous stated that Blood Elves are High Elves and he went the extra mile with this statement. This actually seems to be a bit of a retcon. Gold eyes were evidence of the influence of the current state of the Sunwell, whereas there isn’t anything that would turn their eyes blue from green.
So to me this suggests that they are retconning that not all of the renamed Blood Elves drank fel energies. …
I will never feel complete until I can be a BBHEW.
It deserves to rest in peace. No point in continuing it anymore. It fought for a while, but it’s over now.
No king rules forever…
We all know what is to come. The inevitable creation of a high thread for those desiring them.
As such, I have taken the opportunity to create it on behalf of those whom I stiffly oppose on the notion.
Now for those who feel high elves may not occur, or do not wish to discuss high elves at all, I have my suggestion through half elves, the link can be found below.
As for those whose only purpose is to come into this thread and just stomp their feet.
Meh.
The lore around eye colors was never set in stone, and it completely makes sense for belfs to get blue eyes. I understand alliance still wants a copy of them, but they aren’t even a different race. And if helf fans really think that an eye color is all that is separating them then it’s no wonder they aren’t a playable race yet.
I can’t want! I’ve always wanted blue eyes to match my mog and my frost theme.
Just wanted to say thank you, Blizzard!
Do you think we will get this customization option for Blood Elves come Shadowlands? If we can have green and gold theres no reason we couldn’t have blue.
Isn’t that enough for us in the alliance ?
To be frank, I am tired of this endless crusade for High Elf advocacy and blue eyes for my faction. Never thought we were so egotistic and narcissistic.
I am not for the Horde but the faction deserves more to it than just being seen primitive & stereotyped as “orcish brutes” sorts.
To be frank I am more than happy void elf was added to alliance as we needed a darker faction within our ranks that isn’t all light/holy/ goody etc.,

I had previously made requests for Blood Elves to eventually get blue eyes as they are in fact high elves.
Unfortunately in the past my threads had been deliberately suppressed by mass flagging because people didn’t like hearing a thought opposing their own.
With Shadowlands cosmetics being added it appeared that BElves were going to get blue eyes since they were in the files.
However, it has recently come to my attention that they will in fact not be getting blue eyes.
Blizzard, I would lik…
In Shadowlands the the only way to save Azeroth is for the high elves to band together and cast a massive spell. After a blinding light they’re either all dead or they walk out with Kul Tiran bodies. The spell unfortunately took a heavy toll on their bodies. All the blood elves that want the blue eyes has to pay the price and all alliance that want it… well the same price.
They will never happen. I am sorry to say. There is a limit to what this game needs and it is def NOT High Elves.
Blizzard, here me out. I offer two solutions that can fix your issue with the players and their demand of having a playable high elf race.
Solution 1: storyline wise, we all know that kael renamed his people from high elf to blood elf in honor of their fallen. So why not write a story line where the remaining degenerate “high elves” currently hiding in the alliance return to silver moon and become blood elf? You already have the resources in game such as blue eyes and what not, just write a cra…
It’s finally happening! More eye colors and a good variety! New skin tones to match! Here’s hoping for great things in Shadowlands and beyond! (Dear Blizz, goatees and/or beards for us!)
Congratulations brothers and sisters, for Quel’thalas!!
Blue eyes confirmed! FANTASTIC! This is a GREAT DAY! Great looking beards, too!
As we all know, blood elves will be getting blue eyes in Shadowlands. I feel that this is finally the nail in the coffin for the seventy different high elf megathreads which are made to somehow convince you that a different eye color is worth a new race. Finally, this forum can move on. Good luck to blizzard in the future to making this community happy in Shadowlands.
For so long the waters have been muddled. Now it’s pretty much official, the Silver Covenant High Elves are just a small faction of individuals aiding the Alliance. The void elves are also a small faction of elves aiding the Alliance. Hopefully this means we can see High Elf culture more represented commonly throughout elf lore Horde side. Think of the possibilities, this gives the Alliance more room to develop the Void Elves (for the Ren’dorei!) and High Elves can be more properly developed in …

Would the HE Alliance supporters and detractors be ok with simply giving VE the options to have non-purple skin and hair? They could look like a HE but would still be VE. Seems like a win win to me.
Why do people hate blood elves but want high elves?
That aside, Worgen already have a “human option” to blend in. Now, we know void elves like Alleria can look like a normal elf. Why not give them all the Worgen option? It’s evidently a learned skill, and could be implemented on reaching, say, level 60 in SL or something. That makes it something you -earn- through growing in power, and neatly circumvents the issue of why it wasn’t possible until then (they weren’t powerful enough!).
And just like the Worgen alternate appearance, holding on to i…
Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for the forums to burn.
I suppose I’ll take this opportunity to kindly ask the Developers to not violate their own lore and incite the high elf community. This is one topic where the safest action was taking no action at all.
Before we get into it, this isn’t a pro- or anti- High Elf or Blood Elf thread. You have your arguments in those threads. This also isn’t a lore thread, we’re not debating whether Lor’themar could beat Freiza before he reached Azeroth’s core with a Destructo Disc.
What we’re talking about in here is what Blue Eyes mean in a larger scheme. WoW is, simply put, showing its age. It’s also hampering the development and production of other Warcraft titles because it’s technically still a ‘living’ wor…
Ahhhhhh
I get it now. It’s like Ion giving belves the chance to become ‘high elf’ look? That Alliance players wanted so much?
Alright then
Give skin color cosmetic option to Void elves. They already have blue eyes so.
Why not

Now if you know me by now if you are a Anti, A Blood Elf Player or anyone who didn’t want a another Elven Race in WoW. If I was in the state what was in those years ago back in 2017 to 2019 and well now. I would be going on screaming. “Yay! My 3 Years of Suffering and Madness has finally come to a end!” Something like that.
Truth is. Now not really. Not now Not Ever or anything what I was back then. As much as I really wanted to have Pure High Elves on the Alliance as their own Playable Race. I…
I’m unsure as to why I haven’t seen anyone say this.
Isn’t there still a possibility that Alliance will get High Elves as an allied race, just using the belf models (like void elves)?
I don’t see anything in this datamine marking these models specifically for the Horde. Am I missing something? Why are people treating this like it’s a given?
Full disclosure, I’m not rooting for this. I literally live for Alliance tears. I just don’t want the celebrate prematurely, because there’s absolutely no…
