At this point i think this needs to be officially addressed for everyone experiencing or might experience this issue. I believe we need a official stickied/pinned thread about this issue with the procedures on how to possibly fix this.
And at this point i believe it needs to addressed and the devs need to figure out why this is happening because it is not a secluded issue caused playerside. Nor does it happen on any other games.
Heres a list of a lot of people experiencing this issue.
Since the last update I’ve being connected to servers outside my region. I always got connected to the SAA and SAC servers before the last update. Now I get connected to LAX, ORD, and SYD servers really often. I’m not the only one, in chat a lot of people have the same issue.

This can be difficult to troubleshoot specifically on console but if you have a Windows computer on the same local area network as that of your Xbox, you can try running a WinMTR test to see is there is a issue between you and the game server.
WinMTR instructions:
Download WinMTR from Download WinMTR-v092.zip (WinMTR) (Console players need a Windows Desktop Computer connected to the same network as their console to do this.)
Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
Open the WinMTR folder and…
I play overwatch more than any other game and for the past month have had awful lag spikes (200-300) constantly. Please help!
I have wiped my computers DNS cache and reset my modem and router multiple times with no success.
what can I do to fix this?
Hi,
I am having major performance issues with the game which I have otherwise never experienced. After playing for 1hr+, I will suddenly experience intermittent frametime spikes of 100-300ms every 5 seconds which are very jarring if you’re used to playing at smooth 250+fps on a 144hz monitor. This also occurred on the PTR version of the game. The only fix I’ve found is to restart the game which is obviously very annoying because I can’t do that during comp games. The reduce buffering on/off tri…
I mean, what the hell, Blizzard? You fixed the summer event bug of constant lagging, fps drops and latency up to over 100, and now when the summer event was over, and the update came, the SAME ISSUE CAME BACK! Why can’t you make sure this doesn’t happen? It’s impossible to play comp now, because every 2 minutes it starts lagging for 10-15 seconds and then it runs smoothly again. I have newest gaming company and super fast internet, so it’s definitely your server issues again or something. Report…
I don’t think it’s just me but during 1:33 fran lagged pretty hard I’ve asked other people in games if its happened to them and it has I don’t know what patch it was from but a couple months before ow was running fine for me with no lag at all
mrbasketball,
IND spikes happen for a number of reasons. That particular stat is most useful in context of the rest of the data in your network graph (Ctrl+Shift+N while playing). If this happens often enough, can you reproduce it in, say, the training range? Maybe in 6v6 custom games with all bots? If so, get a screenshot of your netgraph right after a spike happens and the freezeup occurs. If you can upload that on a site like imgur/tinypic and link us to the picture, we’ll be happy to check …
Since recently, I’m having around 400 ms of latency on every single game I start, which is basically unplayable. I live in the Dominican Republic (Caribbean Region) and we used to get connected to the US East servers, but now I see that we’re getting routed to the Brazilian servers. Is there anything I can do to fix this or this is entirely on Blizzard’s camp?

Yesterday and once again today I’ve been having very strange lag only in Overwatch that makes it impossible to play the game. My ping will be normal around 40 and then every couple seconds oscillate up to as high as 600-2000 and then come back down causing me to slide around and not be able to shoot anything or play properly. I never can predict when this is going to happen which has caused me to leave a couple of competitive matches. I’ve tried reinstalling Battlenet client and Overwatch and I …
Good evening. For the past week and a half I have been having latency and IND issues with Overwatch. It has also affected my FPS causing it to drop. Normally my FPS is 153, latency is 46-53ms, and IND is 20ms. As of recently, I have been getting latency that spikes as well as IND values that spike. I have tried all the previous troubleshooting causes of increased latency and have switched to a wired connection but continue to have problems.
I have done a MTR test and here are the results:

I have seen many topic for that, but the problem is already not fixed.
I have an unstable connection (between 50 and 1200 png), nearly five hours a day.
I have tested my connection while I had had a bad connection in overwatch, and my connection was normal.
I have repeated this many times, and NEVER my connection was the same in the game.
I add that my connection was stable when I played overwatch in PS4.
Can you help me ?
Games lag much more often since the update.
Usually have about 90ms latency pretty consistently. Since August 25th for some reason some games go into 300ms latency. Is it due to connecting for some other server to decrease queue time? IP 5.166.224.6
Chances are your connection to the Chicago hub is being blocked for some reason, during a time when you are connecting with higher than normal latency try running a WinMTR test. I’m still being forced into Brazilian servers for absolutely no reason. Q times of 5+ minutes even on quickplay/arcade, 200+ ping and no English speaking people on comms. This started happening since this week’s patch.
The rest of my games are alright. It’s only overwatch.
It looks like the latency is hitting 200+ immediately after the data leaves the modem and is sent off to the ISP network. My best advice would be to contact the ISP directly to verify why the latency is this high so close to home.
most of the time I have 80-95 ping and sometimes I just get 150-400 ping for like 3-5 hours. when this problem happened it’s only in overwatch in other games I have 80-100 ping. I contact the support twice and they didn’t know how to fix it the only thing they wanted me to try is to contact my ISP
I usually get 35ms to SAE1 and lately I’ve been getting >150ms every other match.
I’ve talked to other players and they report the same.
Additionally, there is some discussion going on about SAA1 and SAC1 (Argentina/Chile) servers being decommissioned, is that true?

Hello gang
We are currently investigating two specific situations being experienced by our players in Australia and New Zealand which appear to have the same cause. One problem is players being sent to the wrong server while playing normal game modes. The other is high latency while connected to the Sydney servers.
To check if you’re having one of these issues, you can verify your game lobby by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+N to open the Network Graph while in-game. The game lobby IP address will…
After the recent patch, I keep getting connected to LA servers, instead of the usual Chicago ones. I live in Boston, MA.
This, along with the fact that for some reason they are extremely unstable, produces enormous lag spikes and renders the game virtually unplayable.

It’s happening to me too. I couldn’t speak about servers but I noticed that going into Practice Range several times in a row would randomly net me 3 different pings, favoring the second slowest one.

I will follow the mod’s instructions but before that I wanted to confirm: this is an issue!

I’ve put about 800 hours into this game and have gotten little lag spikes here and there. The past two months have been hell in terms of 300+ ping and lost connections I have done all the troubleshooting there is, even bought a new router. I live in a big city with good internet and I don’t have any issues in any other games. I am just posting in desperation at this point.
It can’t be my isp cause me and a friend have the same isp he doesn’t lag in overwatch but I do so it has to be something with the servers
Hi There,
Since the recent update there has been a drastic increase in Lag Spikes which seems to occur 2 to 4 times per match.
This cannot be an ISP issue because it seems to be occurring to multiple people and I have never had issues with lag before.
Lunar,
More likely the problem we pointed out is the reason you’re getting randomly put on the wrong servers. You have an average of 120ms before you even leave your house. Any luck on ethernet? If you’re already on ethernet, power cycle and retry. If the problem persists beyond that, let’s snag a new winMTR while you’re on an ethernet cable.
So, like 6 months ago ping was fine 40 - 60 now it’s like 90 - 120.
Tried to reset my NC and all but nothing seems to work.

Hello I am a player from the LA area and I have recently noticed an increase in latency. I used to get around 20 ms constantly, but recently it has increased to around 80-90. I know that is still playable, but I of course would prefer to play with the lower latency. I have checked in other games and I have the same ping as before, leading me to believe this is an issue between my network and blizzard servers. I also asked some friends and they have experienced an increase in ping as well. Any he…
