Awful ping despite high speed net with decent speeds

Hi,

I recently came back to OW after 12-18 month hiatus. Since then I’ve upgraded my internet speed twice and was expecting even better performance but instead it’s barely playable. My ping spikes like crazy, well up into the 200-400 range at the best of times. I’ve only been DC’d once so far but it’s pretty unbearable letting team mates down like that.

I ran looking glass and it appears that I’m losing a lot of packets.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey there,

The packet loss you’re seeing in the Looking-Glass is actually normal. The rest of the tests don’t look bad at all. This only shows the connection from Blizzard → you however. So we would want to get a look at the connection from you → Blizzard and do to that we recommend using WinMTR.

Run a WinMTR

Please make sure to note which server IP you ran the test to. You will get the server IP from the Network Graph by pressing Ctrl+Shift+N while in a match.
