We can essentially play 1.12 AV right now on retail, and have been able to for over a decade. Why are you giving us this version of AV and not the true classic version?

Title says it all. When people think of classic AV they think of the original model with the weekend long matches, not the 1.12 model that the retail version is based on. AV is the main reason (along with massive WPvP) that I have been looking forward to classic. I am all for releasing the content in historically correct patches, but when it comes to AV, PLEASE consider using the original model.

The Classic team has done a lot of great things, especially moving from 4 to 6 content release cycles. 1.12 AV works, it is just slightly inferior. So Iâm not going to pretend that the world is ending. Anticipation for Classic is my life right now.
The annoying part is that as a developer I can picture why they would go with 1.12 AV: itâs part of the 1.12 package, itâs source-controlled to work properly with everything else, and tampering with that would introduce possible bugs or unknown variaâŠ

Iâve been on the Classic train for years now, and have been fully hyped since it was announced over a year ago. Having Old AV was probably the thing I was the most stoked for in Classic. It was the defining MMO trait of the original game that captivated people for hours, and even days at a time. It mirrored a true great battle. Itâs like leaving the Bowserâs Castle out of a Super Mario game.
With the announcement of having 1.12 AV, I find a good portion of my excitement gone. And I canât find aâŠ

Part of the charm of Vanilla was the old, awesome version of Alterac Valley. The fact that we arenât getting that version and the fact that phasing/sharding will be a regular part of Classic makes me think this will end up not being worthwhile.

Vanilla AV was the best AV and one of the only reasons I was excited for Classic WOW. This is not classic this is a monster hybrid that youâre making to run on your cloud service.
This is unfortunate and clearly not being made for the players.

If we go with 1.12 AV, we will be missing out on the content, that for many of us, created some of our most epic in-game experiences. This is why we see all the QQ here.
People who were there remember how much fun AV could be and how much of that was lost by the end.
I do remember the AV nerfs and how by 1.12 it was basically just a series of PVE speed runs for quick rep rewards.
I do want a chance to re-experience earlier AV versions. Blizzard has asked for feedback, so here I am.

Thereâs been so much back and forth about this, but one thing doesnât make sense.
You have one side who wants 1.5 or some earlier version of AV - citing the quests and all that stuff. Then you have the other side who want 1.12 - citing itâll be a zerg anyway.
First off, let me say, that it make SENSE that Blizzard go with 1.12. Itâll be easiest. However, my question is to the 1.12 crowd, if any version of AV will be a zerg anyway, why care what version we get?

The current WoW dev team has almost zero of the original vanilla developers. They also ruined their game to the point where people screamed, cried, and petitioned for classic. BFA is the worst WoW expac to date, relying on a cash shop for itâs revenue stream and not monthly subs.
Blizzard has proved they donât know anything about making a good MMORPG post classic, Classic is OUR game not THEIRS. Itâs meant to be a a showcase of the classic Vanilla experience. The grueling, grindy, slow one. A âŠ

Yeah, just here to voice my opinion since apparently it matters (I donât think it does). Did plenty of pvping back in Vanilla and hit rank 14. Definitely donât want cross-server BGâs as I think growing community within your own realm is important and keeps the stakes higher. Also, I would love to see a harder AV with more npcs and taking more coordination on all fronts. If you want a quick pvp, I always thought that was what WSG and AB were for. AV was for a sense of an actual battle with anotheâŠ

I was thinking about creating an av thread. Then i had to go to work.
Except there is a lot of players that donât want 1.5 AV, like me so if you canât take the heat of them deciding on 1.12. AV then leave.
