1.12 is following the #nochanges philosophy perfectly.
If you want changes, go play retail.
Because you wanting 1.5 or 1.7 AV is no different than people wanting [insert change X here]

You can have your opinion on what AV is best but it’s NOT #nochanges to have 1.12.
As long as it existed within the scope of Vanilla, it’s not a change.
Asking for a change that wasn’t in Vanilla (LFD, Transmog, etc) is vastly different than asking for a change that existed within Vanilla.
1.5 av is 1.7 AV. You have no idea what you are talking about.
1.5:
• Winterax Hold
• Wildpaw Ridge
• Syndicate NPC’s
• Mine Layers, Landmines
• Korrak the Bloodrager
• Portable Shredder Unit
• Tower/Bunker Guards
• Lots of Standing Guards
• Lots of Patrols
• Long battles
1.8:
• Winterax Hold removed
• Wildpaw Ridge removed
• Syndicate NPC’s removed
• Mine Layers, Landmines removed
• Shorter battles
1.10:
• Korrak the Bloodrager removed
• Portable Shredder Unit removed
1.11:
• Tower/Bunker Guards removed
• Most Patrols removed
• Most Standing Guards removed
• Ridiculous short battle
It went from a glorious intricate fight where people had to group and coordinate into a quick honor grab where people rush the black lotus location and then go take two towers and kill the last boss. It’s basically fortnite.
You have great logic sir, however it will not be well received by many members of the community. I, however, agree 100%. It is extraordinarily hypocritical to want something that’s not in the framework of what they’re building but then chastise others for doing the same.
I fail to see how wanting something in an earlier version of the game is the same as wanting a QoL change that wasn’t in vanilla. Why are you telling me to play retail when you want the version that is more like retail and others want one that is more like the original.
It’s been part of no changes since day 1 to use a frankenpatch that takes elements from different eras of Vanilla.
It’s only now some people, who are typically against no changes, want to try to change that definition so they can claim “Well then I guess you’re not no changes” because we don’t adhere to the definition they just made up that suits them.
This is deeeeep.
All versions of AV are #nochanges.
1.12 AV is therefore perfectly legitimate version to implement.
But that is not the point, the point is what version they SHOULD implement for best authenticity out of the available versions.
And as far I’ve seen on posts about this topic the core enthusiasts seem to consider 1.7 more or less the perfect version of AV.
So even though I don’t like any version of AV myself I think they should go with 1.7 because the ones who actually care would like so.
AV 1.5 follows the vanilla design philosophy, whereas AV 1.12 introduces the boss rush, which reminds me of many of the Retail “improvements” to pre-max level dungeons and overworld leveling that made them significantly easier, faster, and incredibly boring.
#NOCHANGES
So the people who are happy with 1.12 immediately get their opinion tossed in the garbage because only those people who want 1.5 - 1.8 AV are actually being serious about it.
No wonder Blizzard doesn’t take this community seriously anymore.
I would have been ok with any Earlier version of AV, not anything After 1.12, the difference is for some people they left the game prior to AV being further nerfed. Personally, I’d prefer 1.12 since I won’t be planning on doing much AV this time around! (Maybe going for reputation after being geared).
Only in the case where the AV version is a static thing in Classic. Yes then 1.12 AV people should get their opinion tossed even though they are not technically in the wrong.
If Blizz was truly serious about recreating Vanilla they would have at least two versions of AV during the Classic timeframe. First they would have something like 1.7 and then update it to 1.12 version somewhere during content phase 5.
I am not being unreasonable but the truth is 1.7 represents the Vanilla AV better than 1.12 and if they are lazy and have only one version during Classic that is what they should go for. I personally hope they will have both even though I doubt I am even going to play them myself.
