Part 16 of my posts to try and get D4 improved. I am going to post one-three ideas per day for a month then post a table of contents at the end. Hopefully these can gain some upvotes and dev attention or comment! I was going to just do one post but it would have been way too big. Please upvote and keep it positive guys!!
HELLTIDEs now use the same system that I used for shrines with suffix and prefix as a kind of throwback to diablo 1! A helltide can have two of these total at random but it would be rare. Most helltides just have 1 prefix or 1 suffix. 2 examples are given:
Infernal Helltide of the Extended. This helltide would have 100% more monsters and last 50% longer. Nice combo!!
Cinderous Helltide of Shards. This helltide would have extra cinders drop and then all be converted to shards. Whoa!!!
PREFIX
- Chaotic - 25% more monsters. Chaos purple meteors can rain on map. These deal shadow damage and have a chance of spawning Screaming hell veins or Chaos elites. Chaos elites have a chance to open chaotic portals on death.
This will summon 15-30 more weak mobs and then dissapear. - Dreadful - Rare prefix. 50% more monsters. Elites can have the dreadful affix. Dreadful affix is a like fear but also has a chance to fear player when elite is defeated.
- Infernal - Very Rare prefix. 100% more monsters. Infernal elites roam map. These elites do alot of extra burning damage and have alot of extra health and an extra affix. Other monsters will be attracted to infernals.
- Invasive - Random Portals appear and monsters pour out like the dungeon effect. Portals are temporary.
- Meteoric - Much more of the raining meteors that spawn elites. Cinders can appear from meteor drops.
- Smoldering - Large patches of smoldering hellstone cover map. This grants 50% movement speed for players and monsters. Occasionally these patches will flash three times and then ignite and will damage players and heal monsters.
- Icy - Elite monsters are cold enchanted. Meteors are blue and have a chance to freeze you. Chests are frozen and require damage to open but are 15% cheaper to open.
- Bossy - Extra Bosses on map.
- Cinderous - Extra cinders drop from everything.
- Hardcore - Very rare prefix. Players drop all cinders on death. Any player can pick these up. There are two small sections in each helltide that are PVP enabled.
SUFFIX
- Death and Decay - Elites packs are now also accompanied by an orc shaman that cast death and decay.
- Gods - Many more shrines in this helltide. Sometimes rarely in groups of 3. This helltide has a special rare shrine. Cinderous Shrine - This will spew out 25-150 aberrant cinders with a very low chance of a bonus free protection chest.
- Mysterious - 1 Extra Mystery chest.
- Extended - Helltide lasts 50% longer. This does not affect the timer of the next helltide.
- Discounted - All chests are 20% cheaper to open.
- Harvest - Many more fiend roses and similiar map clickables are in the map.
- Alchemist - 100% more potions drop from chests.
- Thief - One random chest will cost 0 cinders. Mystery chest is valid to be free!
- Shards - Cinders earned in this helltide are instead Aberrant Shards. Aberrant shards are used after aberrant cinders to open chests. Aberrant shards do not expire at the end of the helltide. Players max aberrant shards = max obol amount + 1000.
(Its just a way to carry over cinders in a new currency that might be manipulated in future or built on. - Diablo - Extremely rare prefix - Helltide lasts 2 hours with a massive dev controlled boss fight with UBER Diablo at end spawning 6 mystery chests and 1 diablo chest for free if defeated. All protection chests on the map are mystery chests. Map contains 2 Diablo Chests that cost 1000 each. These have 1 unique each at least and 6-10 legends and 15-30 souls. 1% chance at the Horn of Diablo Unique 1H Mace or HEART of Diablo unique amulet.
