As many of us here have noticed after this latest patch Reinhardt feels a bitâŚwellâŚdifferent. And by different, I mean much worse.
I think I speak collectively for all Reinhardt-mains when I say that we would really appreciate some kind of official response about this. Iâm not even asking for a detailed response, just something like a âwe are awareâ, or âthis is intentionalâ, or âwow, thatâs news to us, weâll look more into itâ, or âhaha, tough luck, home slice.â

I am a GM/Top 500 MT player who primarily plays Reinhardt I came on today estatic to see the Hanzo nerfs however the first game I played with Reinhardt I could tell something was horribly wrong. Almost every animation cancel for Reinhardt has been removed from the game and their is absolutely no mention of it in the patch notes. This is completely horrendous, they effectively removed all of the skill expression out of this hero and the worst part is that nobody is talking about it. Am I just insâŚ
After the latest patch Reinhardt feels very sluggish and slow.
When Reinhardt tries to swing his hammer while holding his shield, it takes an entire extra 1-1.5 seconds for the swing attack to start happening.
Same with Firestrike.
Itâs even worse with more delay if you are jumping with the shield and try to swing.
Also if you try to shield jump shield jump cancel to move a bit faster no longer works. Everything that has to do with animation cancel has been removed or bugged out.

Last patch included massive stealth nerfs to Reinhardt when will someone from the dev team have enough time to give a comment about this? Or do you really not care about your playerbase?
Iâve recently hopped on OVW to see what the new patch had to offer and noticed a change right away. Holding Reinhardts shield and then switching to melee has a animation que to where you cannot swing your hammer. Why does this exist? A full 1 second of to where I cannot use my melee weapon. Thatâs a huge nerf to Reinhardt.
Pretty much the one thing that made Reinhardt fun to make use of his shield and switch between melee is what made him strong and to close the gap while capable of dealing damâŚ
For those that have no noticed, because im sure there are some that dont know. Reinhardts earthshatter change from the pts went through to live, no changes to it, no acknowledgement from blizzard, and its very upsetting when they did have rein in the patch notes but fixed something with his shield. More bad stuff for rein came to live with the earthshatter change however, a ton of reinhardt animation cancels have been removed except for lmb shield and lmb fire strike, and more bugs in earthshattâŚ
Reinhardtâs Earth shatter had a pretty simple solution to an otherwise consistent problem.
Earthshatter would only hit at random times. Sometimes going through the enemy and sometimes landing when it shouldnât have. Make Earthshatter more consistent, tweak itâs hitbox, and make it more reliable.
What weâre left with is a new (arguably uglier) lava animation impact effect, and now âthe coneâ or âwaveâ effect that shows where earth shatter travels is no longer visible when used. This makes it hâŚ
Reinhardt feels sluggish and slow. No Comments from Devs nothing in Patchnotes what has this game become? Either admit that you silently nerfed him, dont know how to do releases and source control or the spaghetti code caused a new bug.
I guess this is Blizzardâs fix to reinhardtâs bugs. Make him unplayable.
Itâs frustrating that every patch Reinhardt gets worse and worse, broken and buggy.
They are moving one step forward and two backwards.
He feels so sluggish and slow now.
Try to melee swing while holding or canceling your shield and it takes an entire 1sec for the attack to start swinging. Same with Firestrike.
Itâs even worse(slower) if you jump shielding and try swinging out of your shield.

I understand that animation cancelling may not be intended but singling out Rein and allowing other heroes such as Genji to keep their animation cancels is unfair to Rein players.

Iâve heard it mention as a bugfix while not being a bug fix.
Apparently reinhardt animation cancelling between shield and hammer was a bug which now got patched. Now inbetween you cannot put your shield up or swing once youâve used one of the other for 0.8 seconds which is a HUGE nerf to reinhardt himself. Why was this patched? Genji can still animation cancel and that didnât get patched. Doomfist can animation cancel to gain fast speed and that didnât get patched. So why should reinâŚ
It has been quite some time since we were told that Reinhardt was getting his abilities rebuilt from the ground up, and since we were assured that he would get his bugs fixed. Since then, weâve also had all kinds of new bugs and stealth nerfs (animation cancels). We were also told that the interactions between him and Brigitte would be altered to make playing Reinhardt feel a little better. Speaking of which (and kind of on an unrelated note), it really does not feel so good getting stunned, âŚ
This is honestly so frustrating. Reinhardt has had his hammer swing speed reduced drastically on his first swing out of shielding and it wasnât even in the patch notes⌠Can we at least get an official response on this?
Iâve been slept punched stunned, uppercutted stunned and punched again for a long time. Now Blizzard decides to stealth nerf him by not letting rein players shield their team, and in a double sniper meta no less where if you canât pull up your shield you get destroyed instantly.
Basically a melee swing = you canât cancel it with your shield. FUN. The hammer if you put it down to take another swing after a clutch block, just jutts on the spot and does absolutely nothing for a moment.

Sadly the only way to get blizzard attention is to spam.
if you fill the whole forum with complains, they cant dodge them all eventually,
if the entire from page is filled with mercy threads for example, and there is one thread asking about what socks does tracer wear, and they respond to that one, then its easy to tell that their dodging the question

I agree. The animation cancels can be explained away as big fixes I guess but this new shatter has got to go. Removing the animation is not the same thing as fixing it. If spamming is you guys preferred rout go for it. The only time I remember it working was the brig uproar after she hit comp tho.
the animation cancels not being addressed in the patch notes when they did a bug fix for reinhardt IN THE PATCH NOTES, is why we are upset about the animation cancels, shield toggling, shield hopping, etc getting severely screwed up.

Iâm aware Iâm a rein main. Iâm just saying spamming the forums isnt needed. Theres threads with hundreds of likes and replys those have weight themselves without the need to spam the forums

the funny thing is, my threads name got edited by one of the forum staff, the person removed âblizzardâ from it. So blizzard does know, once i get enough posts read to get the capability of putting images, ill be doing that(i need 20k posts read or smth).
They know rein has problems since the patch and are purposely not talking about it.

Yeah but thatâs prob just a mod with no real connection to the dev team. As far as getting your level 3 go to one of the mercy megas and scroll down it slowly. It will take 10 minutes and youâll have your 20k
They arnt talking about anything. We used to get a handful of replys a week but now were lucky to get 1
