Standard format - the main Play Mode format, uses the Core Set + cards from the most recent 2 years of expansions. After 2 years the cards from expansions “rotate” out of Standard and become Wild only. You are able to play all the old cards in Wild format. In collection you have to click under the “Wild cards” filter to see all your Wild cards - it shows Standard cards by default. It’s just too darn difficult for new players to enjoy the game

I don’t deny that it’s nigh on difficult for new players to ease into the game, but I’d like to offer my own counterpoints and perspective. I have put some extended discussions in spoilers to get to the point quicker. Also logical because in Standard you have less cards to learn to play around: playing Wild effectively requires that you have learnt some “history” about each of the sets and their cards.
