Had you read his post, you’d have seen that he was still working on earning the essences to buy…he didn’t actually have all of the ones he wanted available for purchase yet. He was saving so he could buy then once he’d earned them. I, like you (until I actually read his post) assumed he was just stock piling for no reason, but he actually wasn’t doing that at all.
Also… Less than a day (with half of the “warning time” being when people usually sleep) is hardly notice.
Reading a thread about a thread is probably not going to help. If you want to start unpeeling this onion of trolling, I would start by going back and reading the original thread then (maybe the second sentence?)
People went from almost being able to buy an essence to only have 1/5 of the essences required. 475 echoes in the morning only needing 25 more and in the afternoon now needing 2025 more.
Now this I totally agree with you on, being one of those people who completed at least Rank 3 on all but 2 of the PvP essences and have never been able to “earn” any Echos because I don’t keep an army of alts and wouldn’t have done those two PvP essences even with one.
Oh I have no problem using it, have the addon installed right now. I’m just saying you said there was stalker issues with cogshank which used 3rd party data to collect all your toon names like raider IO and the others that have come and gone used as well.
just cause you pay doesn’t mean you have the right to complain about anything. In this particular case, the person OP was talking about made a dumb decision to save their echoes instead of buying the essence right away on 24 of their alts, thereby screwing themselves over. Blizzard put out a post reminding people to spend, it is not their responsibility to track down every single person to ensure echos are not wasted.
27 max characters here. Download Altoholic and Saved Instances. The latter, in particular, lets you track whatever kind of currency you want, as well as instance lockouts, across all of your characters.
No. I wasn’t talking about this particular guy, just the system in general. The system they “upgraded” to does, in fact, reward anyone who maybe only got the “most desirable” essences on multiple characters and punishes those who earned every essence on one character.
Probably “lazy” is not the correct word? But I didn’t make the post I replied to. Probably “non-completionist” is more accurate? I don’t know…
But I do agree that for some players this new system feels very punishing. I know we (meaning, those of us who earned every essence on one character) will eventually catch up, but it doesn’t feel good today and won’t for quite some time. It’s a bitter taste that didn’t have to happen. They could have come up with something (i.e. a flat amount given on a “per rank 3 earned” basis for anyone who was locked out of Echo earnings or something similar) to compensate since they chose to lock some players completely out of the whole system to begin with.
I also wasn’t one to save Echos on my alts, I spent them as I earned enough to buy what I wanted to get, but I do think that raising the cost of the original essences was a bit counterintuitive. It doesn’t feel good to have to earn more for the original item available to purchase just because more things are available to buy now. For a system that was supposedly designed to not make people feel punished or behind, it certainly has made a lot of people feel punished and behind.
Why not just BUY them? What is the point of storing all of those echoes for this long? My question applies to anyone else complaining about the increase in price for essences, blizzard didn’t play you, you played yourself?
Your ignorance is showing. There are legitimate reasons someone like me would store their echoes on their alts. Specifically: I was working on getting Rank 3 Blood of the Enemy and Conflict and Strife Essences. I wanted to keep that currency on my alts for when I actually hit Rank 3. Not everyone has all Rank 3 Essences. They gave a < 20 hour notice. That is NOT sufficient.
People used their time differently when blizzard started with essences. I am one who rather than spending all my time on my main character and getting every essence, I only got the most important ones and then I moved on to my alts to get them all essences. I intended to go back to my main after and finish them all for the ‘collection’.
However, people complained long and hard about wanting account wide essences and how they were ‘scared’ to play their alts because of having to earn essences. So evenually blizzard introduced the echo system which heavily rewarded the completionists and made the people like me feel like we wasted our time earning essences on our alts.
A couple of my alts had a bunch of echos built up. I had bought all 4 essences I could use, so they just piled up. A couple of days I thought what the heck I will buy the off spec ones. Ones I will probably never use. Now I can use them to buy corruptions. I wish I had know a few days ago and I wouldn’t have wasted them. Oh well, no big deal, I will get more.
