We have different complaints. He just wants to be a nobody again, I want these NPCs to actually say my name.

It’s kinda hard to do that. A lot of us have unusual names so they’d just get some janky robotic pronunciation if it could even work in the first place. Hero and Champion is easier. The voice actors themselves can’t really do our own names.

After Legion we should’ve been called “Fierce Deity” or your highness, not champion or hero.

Some names would not be able to be said/read. Thus the game just takes the easy way out.

Because a lot of people have dumb names and it would cost a ton to voice record everyones character name.

No.
It’s impossible to get recorded voice lines for all possible player names, and it’s impossible [thus far] to get any kind of text-to-speech thing going on that will mesh well with actual voice acting.
When they didn’t call us champion, hero, our Legion titles, commander, and so on, it basically just threw the character name in the text but then said nothing at all if it was voiced.

Also the technology isn’t there to have every uniquely voiced character call you Xxxcloudsephirothxxx.
