The way Blizzard handled the Slime Cat is atrocious. The way they disrespected LFR players and their time is unacceptable.

I won’t be getting the slime cat. Sure, I could raid normal, several of my friends have done it, and I’ve even had a friend invite me to their raids so I can get it. I’ve refused. Because I will not give Blizzard a metric for fated raids after what they pulled.

Sure, at the end of the day I’m the only one that misses out. Blizzard isn’t going to notice one person not doing fated raids, and I’ll miss out on the mount, but it’s the principle of the thing.

I hate the fact that the Slime Cat was pulled from LFR, but even I’m not desperate enough to piss on Blizzard that I’d make up some BS about boosting token sales.

The slimecat mount isn’t a season reward. It’s a participation reward. No different from the Corehound or the Obsidian Warbreaker. The latter of which was available in LFR.

Season mounts require heroic or mythic kills of the final boss. There is no new ‘season mount’ as the mounts from Sepulchre of the First Ones will be attainable until the pre-patch for 10.0 drops.

Boycotted fated raids over it. I refuse to do them because of how Blizzard handled this.

The achievement for earning the cat literally says ‘all difficulties’ and has for a very long time.

What part of ‘all difficulties’ excludes LFR difficulty exactly?

And those are great, they really are, if you happen to be playing at a time when people are doing those runs, and there’s room for you in those groups, which is not always the case.

The reality is that some people simply prefer to run LFR as their chosen content, and they have zero interest in exploring any difficulty modes higher than that, whether it’s because of their real life schedule, their physical ability to play, or just an unwillingness to really go beyond what they consider their ceiling when it comes to content difficulty.

This wouldn’t even be an issue if Blizzard had made their stance on the slime cat clear from the get go. As Tovi pointed out, saying “Hey, you can get the slime cat on any difficulty.” until 2 days before the event starts, then saying: “Oh whoops, except LFR players, nah, you get nothing.” is not acceptable.

This has nothing to do with the Cat not being available in LFR. It’s about the way Blizzard handled this. Here, I’ll copy paste what I put in other threads on this topic:

The issue isn’t that LFR players aren’t getting access to the slime cat mount, it’s that Blizzard yanked the rug out from under LFR players by making them think they could earn it until a few days before the season was due to start.

If, from the get go, Blizzard had said “You must complete the fated raids on normal difficulty or higher to get the slime cat.” no one would have given a damn. Sure there would be some players who would ask for LFR to be included and raise the question as to why LFR players were excluded but there wouldn’t be the anger we’re seeing now.

This mess is entirely Blizzards doing and they should fix it before S4 goes live by making it possible for LFR players to earn the mount, which they didn’t say wasn’t possible until a few days ago.

By the way? As of right now the in-game achievement panel still implies that you can earn the slime cat mount if you do LFR. It has NOT been updated. So players who do not pay attention to the forums or any news posts and do LFR content are going to be PISSED when they complete all the fated raids on LFR and don’t get the reward the achievement says they should be getting.

I can keep going with another 8 posts of me saying Blizzard’s move here is bad.
