Wounds left untended only fester and inflame.
In the years following the War of Thorns, the Helping Hands coalition, guided by the request of kaldorei, labored to build trade routes and acquire resources for the peoples of northern Kalimdor affected by the war. Their efforts bore fruit, and the regions began stocking the supplies delivered to them. With materials at the ready, the coalition delved into putting them to good use.
Their efforts began upon Mount Hyjal, to cure a mysterious disease spawned from a remnant of the Emerald Nightmare itself. There, they built homes and schools, mended the sick, and drove away the infection.
However, while their attention was focused on the peak, old hatreds rekindled off the wounds unattended by the armistice. A pro-Horde Warband capitalized on the elemental unrest caused by the Incarnate’s awakening to mount a siege upon Astranaar. Meanwhile, a covert cadre of Kaldorei insurgents have pushed the Shatterspear Tribe in northern Darkshore to the brink of starvation.
With pressure mounting to a breaking point in both forests, the coalition convenes once more with their allies and the peoples in such desperate need of aid, opening their ears to all who wish to raise their voices and concerns and guide Helping Hands’ path once more.
Ishnu'alah!
Thanks for reading! ÂWhat is Helping Hands?
Helping Hands is a faction-neutral, public campaign centered on a coalition of peace-advocates. They seek to build relations between the Kaldorei and the Horde by resolving actions that both parties agreed to address, focusing their efforts in Kalimdor and other key areas.
Our players choose what events we do, and we feature both peaceful and combat events. Starting our third campaign in March of 2023, we have wrapped up our Hyjal, Felwood, and Winterspring! Now, Horde Warbands ready for a large push on Astranaar, whilst Kaldorei insurrectionists conspire to covertly displace the Shatterspear tribe from Darkshore.

Anyone, especially those with an interest in Kalimdor RP!While Helping Hands is particularly focused on peace-building, we welcome and encourage characters with a wide variety of view points. The War of Thorns was painful, and forgiveness comes slow - if at all. IC Conflict is the stuff of stories, so we welcome butting heads - as long as everyone stays respectful!

Looking for Speakers!
We'll start with a few speeches from leadership, and maybe returning NPCs, to help frame the situation. However, after, we'll open the floor for participants to share their thoughts on long-term peace! Is there anything we need to focus on? Is it even possible? With our campaign being in Northern Kalimdor, does your character with to request help for anything in that area? This year's will be rather open, so we can get input from post-timeskip participants.Speeches should be kept to 10 minutes in-length, and no more! If you’re interested in having a character share their thoughts, please contact me! Unsure? No worries! Once all per-registered speakers are finished, any remaining time will be opened to walk-up speakers in the order which they volunteer.
IC Background
In conversations with the Horde immediately following the Fourth War, the kaldorei demanded action as reparation for the War of Thorns and Burning of Teldrassil. Many Horde-affiliate groups offered aid, so the Kaldorei gathered among themselves to deliberate. Though they rejected direct assistance, they produced a list of actions they’d like to see resolved. They met with the Horde in the shadows of the Nighthold and agreed on which they’d address: destroying Blight stores, manufacturing medical supplies, rescuing souls from the Maw, and restoring arid lands.
They decided to start with destroying Blight stores. In this, they found a Blight-tainted barrow den in Ashenvale. While cleansing it, they encountered a Blight alchemist, Celestine Sorrowsong, performing experiments on the corpses of the druids that once slumbered there. They chased her away, removed the Blight from the den, and cleansed a nearby lake. From there, they cut off her supply lines and pursued her to Lordaeron. Though she initially had the upper hand, they eventually apprehended her. A jury of Horde, Alliance, and neutrals found her to be guilty of multiple war crimes and sentenced her to execution after the crisis in the Shadowlands resolved itself.
After reconvening once more, the kaldorei in attendance requested a drastic change. Rather than reject direct aid, they actively asked for it. It was, by-in-large, the overwhelming majority vote, so the Coalition started their efforts. Over several years, they traveled the world, striking deals, fixing problems, resolving conflicts, and building a trade network to get supplies flooding into Darkshore, Ashenvale, and Mt. Hyjal. Now, with the materials they need, they turn their attention to putting them to use.
Their efforts began upon Mount Hyjal, to cure a mysterious disease spawned from a remnant of the Emerald Nightmare itself. There, they built homes and schools, mended the sick, and drove away the infection.
Is IC Conflict permitted?
Of course! I fully hope that there is some tension between characters! Working to resolve the distrust is a large part of the event series! However, I would be remiss if I allowed excessive conflict to derail multiple events. With that said, if you are bringing a character that you believe will have an exceptionally poor reaction to the opposing faction or peace-building activities, I do ask that you contact me OOCly prior to the event, so we can discuss. Due to demand, we’re currently investigating building event infrastructure to accommodate those very characters!
Please understand that the DM(s) of any event maintain OOC control over any combat RP. Guards may be empowered with the ability to power-game for the purpose of roleplaying the prompt, IC removal of belligerents from the discussions. That is to say, for this event, they can take action to remove belligerents without needing to “attempt” or roll. They will automatically succeed on removing belligerent characters. If the guards are ignored, I will instruct attendees to ignore belligerent characters. Again, this is for the sake of maintaining the purpose of the event, so please respect that.
Of course, OOC aggression or other belligerent OOC behavior will not be tolerated, and such players will be promptly ignored.
Combat System
This was originally inspired by the Year of the Scourge combat system, then the Helping Hands system was incorporated into the Year of the Scourge system. This year, we are expanded the combat system to include character customization options!
