As was stated above, these promotions have all advertised that they require a recurring subscription in order to qualify. If you think something was falsely advertised I would like to know what that was.
It is possible they will treat the 12 month subscription differently and still award this to cancelled subs. But the promotion specifically states otherwise, and in the past 6 month subs that have been cancelled have never qualified without paying for another 6 months in full.
I would wager they already know exactly how many people cancel their subs and when, and know that people with auto renew off are far less likely to re-sub than those with it on, and they are enticing you to keep it on with a reward. Putting it your way, youâre being punished for being less likely to continue subscribing to their game. Putting it another way, players are rewarded when they indicate they will continue subscribing.
If it is a purchase that you plan to make, you need to keep track of it so it doesnât surprise you if you want the promotion, or pay for those 6 months now when it is not a surprise.
This is literally the first time thereâs been a 12 month subscription, so your point is moot.
Requiring an active 6 month subscription makes sense because the promotion lasts those 6 months.
Whereas for people like me, on the 12 month subscription - our current subscription from the 12 month promotion lasts until the current promotion ends.
So it is a completely different situation. You are comparing apples and oranges.
Did you check at an innkeeper? I purchased the six-month reoccurring and cancelled it, just like you did, and it was at the innkeeper, not sent by mail or special blizzard gift thing like it would on retail. Hope this helps!
When your sub is going to renew is not relevant to these promotions. You can add 10 years worth of game time cards if you like and have your sub set to bill in 2033, the requirement is having an active 6 month sub. It sounds like some people are getting them despite being cancelled, so hopefully that applies to you as well.
A very reliable poster has confirmed they received the mount even though they cancelled their 12 month sub immediately.
Also, you guys know better than to use the flag button as a downvote button. The CMs should punish the people who flagged my post up above for abusing the flag system, jesus.
Alright, so what is motivating with your posts then?
If you believe itâs being given out to those who do not have a future renewal date on their subscription, then why are you portraying doom and gloom when itâs not July 25th yet? Is it because you didnât get it right away?
Because one person who has cancelled getting the mount may very well just be an anomaly in an otherwise discriminatory promotion. Iâm with Maizou, i think itâs unfair for people who donât set and forget their subscriptions, someone like us who activates the 6 month sub and then turns it off so that they can reassess their situation when itâs about to expire should just be treated the same so long as we pay the same amount of money and ultimately reactivate before their sub expires anyway.
I have always done it this way, Netflix, Amazon, whatever really, because back in the day when i cared less about my outgoings, i could end up having a bunch of little subs attached to my bank account like leeches when Iâm no longer using the product/service.
âŚDiscriminatory promotion? Itâs a promotion that incentivizes the maintenance of a 6+ month subscription. How is that âdiscriminatoryâ in any shape or manner?
Let me put it this way: Blizzard has worded their promotions to say that you will receive the incentive if your subscription has a future renewal date. They make you aware of this. If you are concerned about losing track of your subscriptions, nothing prevents you from tracking subscriptions using calendars or any number of other tools.
With that said, if Blizzard is indeed handing out the mount to those who do not have a future renewal date for their 12-month subscription, then I ask again: why the outrage now when Blizzard has plainly stated all mounts are to be delivered by July 24th, which is 14 days away?
Because it could be an oversight, i donât think thereâs any harm about being vocal about these types of things and getting ahead of it, it does not hurt you. I would ask, why do you care so much about people weighing in on the topic? So long as itâs being done in a respectful manner, i donât understand why anyone would sit here and go into bat for Blizzard, they donât need any bodyguards on the forums lol
To begin with, i didnât make this thread, i was simply quoted over here and got a notification from a comment i made on the general forum so i thought it was still a part of that discussion. I must say though, i think itâs silly to characterize this discussion as âyelling into the windâ, so far as i can see so far, all of the discussion aimed at Blizzard has been delivered in a calm and respectful way.
Secondly, i think i bear some responsibility for this the post happening in the first place, while Maizou and i are the same in that we donât leave subscriptions running open ended, i think i may have inadvertently scored this mount because of a forum bug, the other day there was a forum bug that told me i couldnât post because my subscription had expired, i must have went and turned it back on in order to get my posting privileges back again (even though my sub had not actually expired and was not due to do so for a couple of months). Had that forum bug not happened, iâd be in the exact same boat as Maizou right now.
I personally hate coming to the CS forums and only do so as an absolute last resort, i find the gaggle of wannabee CS peeps milling about to be pretty frustrating. Iâm sure there are some of them that are genuinely trying to be helpful, but i feel like a lot just like to sit around and tell people whatâs what.
To those of you that are just trying to help, i appreciate your service
Thank you for providing this clarification. As it stands, it would seem that the wording of the promotion is in fact holding true, and the subscription must be set with a future renewal date.
Iâm talking about posting anything related to the promo. The blues here isnât part of the folks whom made it, nor would they be able to tell another department about it.
Wow, really? Does it retroactively go back and take all your extra mounts away when you cancel a 6 month/1 year sub, or just the ones earned in the period covered by your most recent sub?
Itâs a timing thing, I suspect. So, using my above comments:
If you add the 6-month sub in, say, October. You get the July mount. IF you keep the subscription active until January, you get the next mount in January. Blizzard trusts that you will keep it recurring, and grants âearlyâ access to the next mount. But if you cancel the recurring subscription in February, you havenât reached the second six months, so you are no longer eligible for the second mount.
Six months = one mount. Twelve months = two mounts. But you canât game the timing to get two mounts for one six month payment.
i feel like thereâs a clarification issue here.
many people purchased the 12 months, then cancelled their sub.
based on the wording, the people who cancelled the sub are no longer eligible, even though they paid the same amount as the people who didnât cancel their sub.
so⌠the people who cancel their sub next month, get a free mount, and the people who cancelled their sub earlier within the 12 month period miss out.
âŚwhich is the problem.
people who cancel their 12 month sub in august, get an additional mount.
people who cancelled after their money was taken, appear to not be eligible.
