Updated Free Decks for New and Returning Players - Barrens Expansion Cycle

The decks awarded to new and returning players will be updated with our next major patch! We’ve also made it easier for returning players to claim the free deck by removing the prerequisite of completing the returning player experience.* So long as you’ve been away for 120 days, you’ll be prompted with the deck grant right after you log in!

As a reminder, here is how it works for new players:

  • Log into Hearthstone and complete the tutorial and the Starter Quest line.
  • You will need to graduate from the New Player Ranks (Ranks 40-1).
  • Upon completing these quests, you will be able to select your free Class Deck once you return to the main menu.

It’s possible you may not see the deck in your deck list if you did not have an open deck slot when you chose your free Class Deck. If this happens, don’t worry! You will still receive all the cards from that deck. This is true outside of Core Set cards, which must be earned by leveling your account (these cards are unlocked quite easily). If you would like to delete one of your existing decks, you can then navigate back to this page and use our deck list. From here, copy the deck code, and you can then add the deck to your deck list from within Hearthstone.

*Limited one per account. A returning player is defined as one who has not logged into Hearthstone for 120 consecutive days.

Although it’s great for new players having a free deck to start with I never understood why they weren’t given a deck with brand new cards instead of only old ones.

They all look pretty terrible tbh

NITROBOOST POISON WILL BE NERFED TO 2 MANA ???

Will be unplayable.

Oh you got me there for a sec.
It’s 2 copies that cost 1 mana.
2x (1) Nitroboost Poison

Nope, he just changed it.

I have screenshots of where it said 2 mana.

Unless it’s actually a typo, which can happen lol…

Yes. -.-

I do really hope so…

At 2 mana it should get rid of the corrupt text.

A typo hmm, I’m skeptical of that given the context of them suggesting burst would be nerfed in an upcoming patch.

I personally think they accidentally leaked it and fixed their mistake.

Sure, could be an accidental leak, could also be a typo, no way to really tell at this point.

I did typos similar to that myself in the past.

Although he obviously copy pasted everything so why would it say 2x (2).

Usually you need to copy past the deck list in game, is he playing on an updated version of Hearthstone that’s not yet released ?

Who knows.

And this is my speculation.

Edit: they also moved its location in the list.

Very odd to do only that if it was just a typo.

Now that was one of hell of a leak for the upcoming balance patch.

Big brain speculation, perhaps this was to appease those of us who were salty after the agro rogue nerf got delayed.

Maybe not only cost will be changed?
Like +3 attack to creature and after corruption +2 attack to weapon

Awww, I was wondering what decks they would have. I knew they couldn’t have any rotated cards but there is no Barrens cards here either.

I got C’thun as a reward track freebie, if I chose a deck with with C’thun in the deck list, does that mean I get 400 free dust?

You can only get these decks if you quit playing over 120 days ago.

When did you last play Hearthstone?

Or you could you start a new account and get the free deck that way but you would still need to level through the New Player Ranks (40-1). Be warned though, you’ll have to fight past hordes of Demonhunters through that ladder since the Demonhunter basic cards pretty much eclipses the basic cards of the other classes last time I did it.

It was worth it in the end though, the Libram Paladin free deck I got was a solid foundation for making a Legend ladder climbing-worthy Paladin deck. Only required some relatively minor upgrades to do the job and now has got me to Legend 2 seasons in a row. Woot.

I’m in Rank 18, new player area.

Yes, you will get another C’Thun, worth 400 dust. The Rogue deck is OK. But to be honest C’Thun is the weakest part of it. It should have had Jandice instead.

Mage seems to offer the best value with 3 Legendary cards. But again I prefer Jandice over Ivory.
