What bots/hacks are allowed?

Just wondering what hacks and bots blizzard allows. I keep seeing people teleporting and killing mobs automatically for days at a time. I have reported them but they are on same toons 24/7 so I guess blizz allows it. Just wondering which of these hacks and bots blizzard supports so I can look into them myself.

No hacks or cheats are allowed.

Our anti-cheat team takes action against botters and hackers 24/7, and every time I’ve asked them “how many botters were actioned yesterday?”, the number is always in the thousands. That’s a global number, by the way.

Our anti-cheat team focuses on popular botting spots, especially areas that are commonly reported by players. For example, Dire Maul has been one such area for cheaters, so a lot of attention from my colleagues has been put on Dire Maul recently.

Please be encouraged to keep using the in-game reporting system for cheat/hack reports. Those complement our systems that automatically look for the ever-changing strategies and software that the botters are using, and reports really help us zero in on new hacks more quickly than we would have without them.

Thank you!

I’m glad you responded to something at least.

However one quick glance on every single server you can find ZG/DMT/AQ20 bots just pacing in and out of instances 24/7 especially once they get locked out.

On top of that there is an incredible influx of hunter/mage bots leveling in all zones.

Also in zones like burning steppes(zones with lotus) you have on any given day 3-5 Indonesian/Chinese lotus farmers eagle eyeing. They sell their lotus for gold and then sell the gold for real life money.

Something needs to be done. I submit reports every day get the occasional “thank you” in my in game mail box but a lot of them are still playing because I remember their names. This has been going on for weeks.

Thanks for responding, Kaivax. Noting there seem to be a lot of complaints in these forums about people consistently seeing the same bots/hacks, are you able to clarify

If that is a global number, are you able to provide any breakdown of how many banned bots were linked to activity in Classic versus activity in Retail?

Have you ever considered you are jsut lagging really bad and those ppl are not hackers…

Thank you for doing what you do. Any information is good, even if that information is “keep doing what you guys are doing and report.”

In a sea of cynicism, know there are some who appreciate what you do and understand how thankless it must feel at times.

What about casinos? I’m tired of all the yells for deathrolls and all the other casino crap in main cities

Yea, cuz chars being on a city and then on top of a lotus after a few seconds is definitely lag

I think that is allowed because asmongold does it all the time and there is youtube video and VOD proof so that would be pretty whack if blizz were to ban anyone else at all over deathrolls and ingame casinos when theres literally a streamer/youtuber donig it all the time with actual video proof and nothing done about it

I know they are allowed but I thought I rememeber them saying you can’t advertise it in public chats, including yell. Now you have lv. 1’s not only with casino in the there name but the guild name spaming /yell non stop about winning 100g

thats odd because he does, and he advertises on mutliple platforms to thousands of people
:eye: :lips: :eye:

This was all i can find on it from a MMO post a year ago

While running or participating in casino activities in-game is not a violation of our policies,** we do not allow advertising for such activities in public chat channels or on the forums. Players found advertising these activities in chat or on the forums are subject to penalties.

including wrongful bans. which you don’t even care about. its costing me 6 months subscription unjustly

Kaivax, I know you and your colleagues are actively banning accounts that bot or hack or cheat in some way. However, it concerns me that I can type “/who strat” at any time of day and see several groups that are clearly bots meant to AoE down the dungeon and sell the materials that drop; mind you, this is only the horde portion of bots. More than once I’ve seen a stream of bots, both horde and alliance, exit and then enter into the Stratholme side gate simultaneously.

When the botting is that rampant and obvious, why does it persist for so long?

simply because they are so paranoid about bots that they are banning the wrong ppl

you arent mentioning the gold farmers/ sellers

theres still illegitimate players in every zone or instance with anything worth anything bringing prices and gold farms down

I’m not encouraged by a team that has the perception of not caring. Talk is cheap and I don’t even see a lot of that, if I’m being completely honest. If you want to win me over, you have to at least put forth the effort to communicate with your player base on a daily basis, rather than a monthly one.
