Demoted from Diamond 1 to Bronze 5; a tale of caution

Not all luck. There is a lot of skill involved but who you end up solo queuing with matters a lot.

The fact ranked isn’t limited to duos or less means the solo player isn’t catered to. If the enemy was forced to be duos max then the solo player has much more impact the more the enemy team is disorganized

that false logic because currently some weird ppl are running a massacre in lower ranks. all i can tell u is that they r stacked and skillwise they r above the rank they r playing at.

Nothing escapes the Bronze-5 Black Hole. You can get as high as Silver-4 and still get B5 trolls in your matches to pull you back down. Or at least that’s how it was when I stopped playing ranked 2 years ago.

Not all luck, but when you’re solo queing luck will influence your chances in majority of the cases.

You dropping from D1 to B5 however is FAR too much… I’m certain that’s mostly on you. Try not to play too many matches when/if you’re frustrated.

It still happens; there’s AFKs, trolls, etc. Last night we had a “I’m going to pick hammer and you’re going to DEAL WITH IT” type player. 1st game with them; lost because they’re a bad lvl 999 hammer.

2nd game, they almost threw again but we managed to somehow turn that mess into a win.

It wasn’t on me; even when in full tilt mode; I still played decently, always safe, still getting decent damage. The thing about HotS is if your allies are bad enough there is literally nothing a player can do; you cannot make up a 5 level difference as your enemies trickle into the enemy; racking up 10+ deaths each in 10 minutes unless you get a luck backdoor or a late game boss grab while the enemy is down someone…which requires your allies to at least make it to core…or cooperate with one another.

I don’t get how people don’t grasp this concept…HotS isn’t Dota2 or LoL; there is basically no comeback mechanic when your allies are mass feeding. Even smurfing GMs lose when their allies are bad enough.

The MM system is flawed af, but not that flawed to make you go on a massive losing streak to drop 4 leagues.

So…let’s think this through a little here then.

We have these variables in play;

  • A D1 player with a good 50+ games under their belt and frequently scores wins, including getting MVP with D1 and Masters players.

  • An event that makes all heroes free to play, including in ranked

  • Consistent allies who are literally getting 10+ deaths a game; most of which last 10-15 minutes.

Even if we make the assumption that I’m not D1 material, which is totally fair and something I considered; it’s much much more likely that the contributing variables are leading to a perfect storm scenario.

People can and will drop 4 leagues when there’s an event that’s encouraging people to bypass the restrictions on heroes for ranked (ownership) because the further they fall down in league; the more likely they are to run into allies who are playing heroes they normally wouldn’t be able to play as the skill level and common sense variables decrease the further down the league scale you go.

I agree with you.

FIRSTLY, Free to Play Heroes should NOT appear in Ranked. Especially because lower level accounts are the ones that are utilizing the Free to Play rotation more than veteran accounts are.

SECONDLY, I think that certain Heroes should be LOCKED from the Bronze bracket. This list would include all Heroes labeled as “Very Hard” (and some niche Heroes)….

Abathur
The Lost Vikings
Medivh
Murky
Cho’gall
Probius

I ask that the devs lock these Heroes from the BRONZE bracket (and ONLY the Bronze bracket) so as to encourage new Ranked players to learn easier Heroes to adjust themselves to the heightened pace of Ranked play. I cannot tell you how many times I lost a game when I was in Bronze because a new player just HAD to play Abathur and did not know how to play him.

Another argument for locking the above listed Heroes is to limit smurfing in the Bronze bracket. A high skilled Abathur player could absolutely decimate an enemy team if they picked that Hero, and since all 5 players rely upon one another to increase their rank after a match, I don’t think this is fair in the spirit of balanced competition. I think it will bring better parity to the Bronze league for all levels of players.

THIRDLY, playing Storm League grants a 25% experience bonus. This is actually an incentive for players to level up their low level/never played Heroes. I believe this 25% experience bonus should ONLY be active for accounts over level 300. This would help alleviate the problem of new players playing Ranked to level up their Heroes, which can be detrimental to the team’s chances of winning and the overall MMR system.

IN CONCLUSION, I believe there needs to be more barriers to entry with Ranked play, and that starts at the bottom….BRONZE. By eliminating Free to Play Heroes, requiring a higher account level, locking certain Heroes, and limiting the 25% experience bonus to more experienced accounts, I believe you’ll see the level of competition balance out more in Bronze (and even Silver).

If that were true, the forum would have been filled with similar complaints. As it is, the only one who has fallen so far so fast is you.

And after that they first, had a team which contained not so good allies (according to the @Op) and second, stopped playing in a party and starting their solo carrier. But obv it was the event which affected everybody.

This is stupid and short sighted.

Why would you think that a majority would come to the forums to complain?
The vast majority of gamers don’t talk on forums…

It’s very clear that most of you just lack perspective and make outlandish claims based on nothing.

Oh you sweet summer child. People are constantly coming to the forum or reddit to complain about anything and everything. To be sure, if the free hero event had caused an avalanche of people losing that many ranks that fast, everyone would have heard about it instantly.

I rarely complain about anything? Even in this thread I wasn’t complaining; I was sharing a story.

This is what I mean; you; as demonstrated; make some weird assumption that a forum with maybe 100-200 regulars for a game with tens of thousands of players is a place where people go to make complaints…but based on the numbers alone we can clearly see that most of the players do not come here or Reddit.

And your response to me pointing out how stupid that is; you call me a sweet summer child, claim I complain all the time, which is a lie and detract from my very valid point.

What is wrong with you? You’re either being willfully ignorant or you seriously have a problem with logical deduction…I mean I literally spelled it out for you and you’re still pushing back…are you 12?

These were all posted recently. Shall I go on?

Now you’re just trolling. Those comments weren’t from me. I’m reporting you.

She didn’t say you made those threads.
I guess her point was not only you make threads to complain. And not only regulars make threads in forums.

They implied it heavily (there’s no other context for the quotes, all of which weren’t from me) and made the assumption that this place is reflective of the entire player base.

That shows a distinct lack of awareness for the topic at hand - and the pushback when confronted just furthers this.

I don’t make threads to only complain. This thread wasn’t about complaining, my Deckard thread wasn’t about complaining…and those are the only 2 threads I’ve made in how many months?

Whoever that person is, is lying about me. That’s not acceptable and they deserve to be actioned against if they’re going to pull that kind of nonsense.

Opinions and heated debates are one thing but once someone start lying, yeah, no.

I didn’t say you were making ONLY complaining threads. And I was refering to" Everyone have things to complain about soon or later".

For example, I don’t usually complain, but when I do - that includes Tassadar. That doesn’t mean I always complain when I post in forums. Get it?
