PC Freezing Issue

After the recent update, my PC freezes when playing Vanguard or Helliquary. The screen freezes, and the mouse moves slowly until the system becomes unresponsive. This issue also occurs occasionally in dungeons. When the freeze happens, it seems to coincide with the activation of the Paragon’s Legend skill, Lightning Rod. The problem doesn’t occur as often if I don’t select Lightning Rod, but it still happens when other players activate it. Please look into this issue. Thank you

Additional note:
It seems likely that the item’s Curse attribute is ‘Wired’ since it stops when lightning connects.

It seems that the issue occurs when using lightning-related skills, regardless of the above skills, when the lightning effect occurs.

Could there have been a stealth update? There hasn’t been a Windows update, but today the Helliquary didn’t freeze. :blush:

It froze again while playing in the dungeon. It seems like it hasn’t been fixed yet. :sweat:

I was hoping this update would fix the issue… but it still freezes. :cry:

I updated the Windows 11 November update (KB5046617, OS Build 26110.2314), but the issue still hasn’t been resolved. However, after updating the NVIDIA driver (566.14) today, the same freezing issue occurred a few times but recovered after a few seconds or minutes. I guess I’ll have to test it a bit more.

2024-11-16:
After testing, the freezing issue still hasn’t been fixed.

2024-11-28:
Even after the November 26th update(3.1.3.2465879), it still hasn’t been fixed. :frowning:

Now it even stops while standing. :joy:

I updated Windows and the graphics driver (566.36) on the 11th, but it still freezes. I hope tomorrow’s major update will fix it. :sweat:

Today’s update didn’t help either. Who do you think will fix it first, Microsoft or Blizzard? LOL

Although this issue started after the Windows 24H2 update, it doesn’t occur with my other games, whether old or new. So, I think Blizzard might be able to fix it as well.
I don’t have backup files to roll back to 23H2, and a fresh install won’t keep my current settings, so I can’t do that either. :rofl:

The same issue occurred while playing POE2 today. It seems like it’s a problem that Microsoft needs to fix. :expressionless:

2025-01-01:
I ended up temporarily installing 23H2 for the games. The lags and freezing are gone, and everything is running smoothly now.

I have been having the same issue too. And not only in raids and vanguard, but often in dungeons and once it happened during assembly. I have quite a decent PC and the only game I am having problems is with DI. I was hopeful that this would fixed by now, however today it happened again. I wonder when and if they will fix this…

WHEN will this get fixed. Absolute Garbage you release an Update and don’t have this resolved.

what does this impact?
raiding / defending vault
All Gauntlets
Heli Raids
Vanguard
ANY GROUP…

Inventory / Armoury still broken / bugged
New training dummies showing 1/2 to 1/3 previous damage
Battleground is FULL of BOTS. ENTIRE TEAMs.

Happens to me too. Thought I was the only one. For me it usually freezes in battle grounds. Running an RTX 3060, 32gb RAM and plenty of processing power to recreate the 60s moon landing

Started to happen right after upgraded from 23H2 to 24H2.

Game freezes, sound is looped on PC, only cursor responds (with unable to alt-tab to Win) but gradually locks up everything. Sometimes it freezes directly with sound being silent.

Interesting note: I am unable to do Repair through Battlenet client on the game. I’ve tried to do repair via ingame. Also updated all drivers besides GPU after upgrade. Security scans clean (just to say if some big brains come to advise to do all of these steps we are already aware of).

Got the exactly same problem, again after updating from Windows 11 23H2 to 24H2. Will try to download 23H2 again to see if it fix the problem hopefully.

I had the same issues with Diablo Immortal and Windows 11 24H2. Seems a bug in Wndows 11 or with the nvidia graphic drivers. After going back to 23H2 i have no issues.

I had to find out, that Version 24H2 is released now and you can no longer download Windows 11 23H2 from Microsoft. Hope this problem will fixed soon, until more players get the new Release through Windows Update.

The game is lagging on my PC: I get freezes during raids, also when someone in the group teleports or changes gear. I don’t have this issue in other games — for example, Battlefield, Cyberpunk 2077 runs perfectly without a single freeze.

Is this what the bug looks like to y’all? If not, ill post under a new bug report. Wasn’t sure if this bug had been reported, i hadn’t seen anything about it but its also hard to explain… an explanation down in a reply under this post sounded kinda like this problem, so i thought i would start here.

Also, on a side note, why are we not able to upload videos natively on this website? At least on mobile theres no attachment button or anything similar. And really no links either? How tf qre y’all supposed to receive feedback if you cant do that? Yall just make this section on the forum so that it appears that y’all care? After the new patch, the bug is still not fixed, my pc keep freezing multiple times every day…and after 1 month still no response from Blizzard…

Being able to embed pictures / clickable hyperlinks is related to your Trust Level…

Hey man, sorry to cheat the system! I didnt know any of that so thank you for all of the information as well, and also for embedding video for me. Still having this exact issue multiple times daily. I cant find any explanation, nor anyone else explaining this issue to any degree lol. Can someone give me a +1 comment if they too are having this issue?

So happy i found this topic. I have the same issue, but mostly in Vanguard - I mean it happens there everytime. Sometimes i can do 3 vanguards without issue but then the next one will make my pc freeze, where i can move the mouse very slow, and sound is in a loop.

I have been reinstalling a lot of things i.e. graphic card drivers, sound drivers - re-seating ram sticks etc. nothing works, but now that i found this report, I can see that it is not my pc that is the issue here.

Blizzard please fix it.

this and also disconnection from the battlenet ending up on, no response and then all suddden reconnecting… 15-20 sek of game because of it very annoying mostly in pvp content

I am having the same issue. PC entirely locks up and becomes unresponsive and never recovers. I have to reset the PC just to get it to work again.
