Is this another Tupac alt?
Gender and sexuality
Matters of gender and sexuality are not often called upon in the Warcraft universe, but are occasionally brought up throughout official Warcraft lore and art.
Is this another Tupac alt?
Thatâs fair. However, I think itâs important to acknowledge that that silence didnât come from normalizing LGBTQ+ communities and just making it seem like part of the world, but because up until recently, direct acknowledgements of homosexuality didnât exist in the game at all, so what people are taking as a positive actually derived from a negative. Naturally, you cannot talk about homophobia in a game if homosexuality didnât exist to begin with, but the fact that it didnât really exist prior to LGBTQ+ positive stories becoming more normalized tells me that perhaps that silence speaks a bit louder than they give credit for.
Itâs great that we can hijack that silence and interpret it as something else, but in my mind, thereâs no ignoring that.
Sure I believe you
Then what have you been saying then?
Oh wait.
I have equally said nothing in the game states homophobia does exist and that homophobia doesnât exist.
âŚSo youâre saying nothing thenâŚ
I understand that, in your perspective, I have to take a side here,
Well you kind of have to because otherwise your arguments wouldnât exactly make sense if your being neither âHomophobia doesnât existâ and âhomophobia does existâ positions here.
Plus, you kind of already taken a side by disagreeing with people who said that homophobia isnât canon, and yet you provide no evidence that supports your agruments.
but all I have ever argued was the idea that this gameâs lore has some sort of explicit statement against homophobia.
âŚWhy do you need an explicit statement against homophobia? Canât you just figure out that since nobody has a problem with LGBTQ+ characters, and thereâs LGBTQ+ characters well doumented on WoWhead, that means there isnât any homophobia going on?
If youâre denying what the lead narrative designer has said, because as youâve implied, you donât believe him because âhe can say whatever he wantsâŚâ.
Steve Danuser can say anything he wants.
âŚthen i donât think you would find that an explicit statement would be good enough for youâŚ
Obviously, yes, a developer writing a story that is LGBTQ+ positive infers that they are against homophobia, and so naturally they wouldnât do anything to harm LGBTQ+ communities.
⌠I donât know why you keep calling him a developer⌠according to his twitter bioâŚ
Narrative Lead on World of Warcraft; Principal Narrative Designer @ Blizzard Entertainment. Thrice got a Wordle in 2. Tweets are my own.

And Steve joined since May 2015.
But donât you think thatâs enough evidence to show you that thereâs no homophobia in lore then, if itâs being lead by people who are against homophobia?..
But donât you think thatâs enough evidence to show you that thereâs no homophobia in lore then, if itâs being lead by people who are against homophobia?
Iâve explained my reasonings well enough above. Feel free to engage with it or donât. I donât really care.
Who knows we may never know who came first of the Tâs only that have been here in the shadows casting their baited nets into the sea of the masses since time began.
Iâve explained my reasonings well enough above. Feel free to engage with it or donât. I donât really care.
âŚOkay then.
However, I think itâs important to acknowledge that that silence didnât come from normalizing LGBTQ+ communities and just making it seem like part of the world, but because up until recently, direct acknowledgements of homosexuality didnât exist in the game at all,
âŚDefine recentlyâŚ
Matters of gender and sexuality are not often called upon in the Warcraft universe, but are occasionally brought up throughout official Warcraft lore and art.
Because WoWhead tracks these characters overtime.
so what people are taking as a positive actually derived from a negative.
Nice to know youâre the type that thinks silence is bad. Especially if people in the game are already getting along.
Naturally, you cannot talk about homophobia in a game if homosexuality didnât exist to begin with,
You do know WoW is fantasy, right? It doesnât have to follow the same rules as real life. Infact, it often doesnât. It can just have gay people and have them be treated fairly or just like staright people with no homophobia. Thatâs like the best sort of inclusion you can ever do. And yet youâre sitting here going âNo homophobia means no homosexuality!â⌠i mean this is the same game that introduced Sort of Asian humans without explanationâŚ
Infact, this is also the same game where you can swap genders willy nilly with the barbershop. Gender just sort of exists now.
Itâs great that we can hijack that silence and interpret it as something else,
âŚWay to dismiss your own interpretation of silence, as well the entire point of your comment, mate. Couldâve just left it at âThatâs fairâ.
Also, funny that OP only has 2 comments in this thread so farâŚ
I guess he doesnât care to discuss his idea then.
But if something doesnât exist why would the gameâs history mention it at all?
They donât have to name it Pride event, they can just make up something, just like Chinese new year event.
Peace day: where both factions stop fighting for the day and just⌠idk, chill.
Steve Danuser can say anything he wants. If itâs not written into the game, it means literally nothing to say itâs explicitly stated in the lore.
Steve Danuser is literally god in regards to Warcraft lore. He doesnât need to write it down for it to be so. There are no instances of homophobia in Warcraft lore, so it doesnât exist. Youâd need to provide an example of it happening to showcase its existence.
Do you have an example of where homophobia existed in Warcraft?
because, up until recently, homosexuality didnât exist in the game, either?
Homosexuality existed in Warcraft since 2008.
Sentinel Sweetspring is a level 30 NPC that can be found in Dragonblight. This NPC can be found in Dragonblight. In the NPCs category. Always up to date.
âSentinel Sweetspring flutters her large eyebrows suggestively at Sentinel Amberline from across the camp.â
Sentinel Sweetspring has been openly flirting with another Night Elf woman since 2008. Maybe theyâre just roommates?
Weird, the WoW token thread was yoinked but this one was unflagged.
:\
Iâm sorry this is continuing I think Iâm just going to log back out and stop reading the forums for a while. No reason for me to manage an ignore list if trolling is allowed to run rampant anyways.
Why are there two threads about the same exact topic from the exact same poster? Doesnât this qualify as spam from this poster now?
Itâs really telling that people like Rudly doesnât count NPCâs like those and think it has never existed before, despite all the evidence given to them, and despite the fact that the lead narrative designer is literally against homophobia, their still able to go⌠âWell⌠nuh-uhâŚâ
And iâm over here wondering what is there to be gained about this?..

Blizzard, as well Tulln and the rest of the âFake progressivesâ, have some severely messed up priorities and also has a tendency to side with radical capitalism.
Doesnât this qualify as spam from this poster now?
Just wanted to celebrate pride month and hopefully get some people interested in celebrating in-game or if other events are happening. I really think this should be an event in-game as a official micro-holiday with transmogs and toys. Also a pride shirt and tabard. Any events in-game to celebrate pride please post here. Until Blizzard makes something official, what are some ideas youâd like to see?
Iâve been brainstorming ideas for pride month and I was thinking Org and Stormwind could have a quest giver that gives out an introductory quest for LGBT pride month that shows the significance of the movement and their achievements. After completing the quest, the player is given a colorful tabard and a shirt. A cutscene will play after with NPCâs in Stormwind/Org walking down the street with a pride flag and fireworks going off in the background. This would than transition into the game and pâŚ
Iâd like to point out that pride month is coming soon and I want to provide some ideas on what Blizzard could do through in game events to help celebrate events like this. One idea is to utilize the micro holiday calendar. June could be used for pride month and this event should last throughout the month of June. Capital cities could have rainbow colors tabards and in game transmog that helps bring awareness and representation. Simple cosmetics or even toys could be added with a few simple quesâŚ
No sadly since the other one is a month old and got necroâd by a different character.
Clearly the Tâs 20+ pride/lgbtq+ threads are all in good faith. I mean how could someone even think about talking about something related to the game like tokens.
Oh Good GodâŚ
I was hoping to go at least a week with out hearing from the T squad. Hopefully this thread will go the way of the others.
Oh damn, never made the connection.
Being only a level 10 you may not know this⌠buuuut when you play the game, all kinds of gear goes into your inventory and you can transmog into a big a rainbow as you want to be⌠just sayin.
Look at this tweet that was liked by Chris Metzen
I wonder who tweeted that?!
Itâs still weird that you feel the need to prove and point out your credentials as if this is some sort of ticket. And itâs even more weird if youâre part of the community and donât realize the harm these threads are causing.
