Why the lack of Customization?

Dude they literally need to expand on Wakener lore in general. I want to know at what point soul infusion become less about Arcane magic and more Shadow magic in Eredar society.

I totally agree with this but I would probably add Priest to this list due to the fact it’s always bugged me that normal Orcs are the only playable race in game currently that can’t be Priests and every other race has a way of doing it so why wouldn’t Orcs.

I never played that so I’ll just say that sounds pretty cool and leave it at no opinion past that.

This ranks pretty high on wants for Warlocks so yes please Blizzard.

I’m indifferent on BE Druids.

If paired with NE Paladins I would be okay with that, because it breaks the Elf druid on alliance and Elf Paladin on Horde thing so it’d feel unfair otherwise but I oppose extra time to cater to a void class skin of the class or finessing in any way for that class for VEs.

My main concern will always be a second visual theme for BEs the way one was afforded to VEs during a time when core races were the concern or so they claimed, as well as options to solidify additions for the main theme, as I think VEs deserve options to solidly their main theme, Pandaren, and so on and so forth.

I can see that.

Not a bad thought actually…

I’ve seen people try to leverage Druid as the compensation for losing any sense of visual uniqueness. Which I find to be fair but I think it would be deeper where now you’d have to open up Paladin to an Elf (Night Elf) and then it’s a tit for tat thing again where we haven’t really still been given any sense of fairness in terms of gaining anything for the loss of visual uniqueness.

And it doesn’t even make sense. We can entertain the ‘idea’ that they can’t use the Light due to their ‘fel taint’, ok whatever. What is stopping them from being Shadow casters exactly?? Especially when we know they had Shadow casters on Draenor? The shadow ain’t rejecting folks due to some fel taint.

I thought we’d get this in the pre-patch for BFA at the end of Legion, I was really surprised we didn’t so yes you get a like for me because I still don’t understand why Night Elf Paladin isn’t a thing.

So much this.

And I think they are more than fair I’d like to see it, and if BEs got Druid then cool.

But then that’s giving Horde an elf Druid class and Alliance an Elf Paladin class it’s not compensation for the loss of visual uniqueness, and this is only really towards the sentiment of “give BEs Druid then it’ll be fair” which I’ve seen and I don’t mind the idea but I don’t think it adds up.

And I’d ever like so much to see the same fairness afforded VEs afforded to Blood Elves, while allowing the parent race to retain some sense of uniqueness to their main visual theme as well.

The biggest issue that hurts all races too in my eyes will always be locking accessories to either guys or girls like jewelry and tattoos.

I agree with everything you said but I wanted to requote this because this is another thing I don’t understand about character customizations, I mean it’s almost like Blizzard thinks men don’t wear jewelry or women don’t get tattoos and it’s like we are in 2021 not 1921 it’s time to be more open minded and progressive and with the way they are changing things in the game currently to be more improved for everyone it would be great to crossover these options for both males and females. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

The Horde at the moment have more shamams and druid options then the alliance.

In the end by looking to class-race balancing its more difficulty then to simple look into the voidelf-bloodelf- nightelf-nightborne situation.

Druid on horde are: all Tauren, all Trolls.
Druids on alliance are kt,.worgen, nightelves

Love this thread! What I would really enjoy seeing is visual customization for a character’s class depending on race selected. I had read a thread about this previously but an example would be:

  • Blood elf paladin having Blood Knight-themed colors to their spells
  • Lightforged monk (If we ever get them) - light-themed colors to monk abilities
  • Void elf - etc. etc.

I think these class ‘skins’ would be fantastic and don’t necessarily have to be tied to race, but allow for visual customization of spells without having the balancing nightmare that a bunch of new spells would entail. The Shadowlands covenant ability spell effects have been great in terms of visual presence/particle effects/etc. and would love to see that translate to something we could tweak on our characters to add that extra level of customization.

I’m loving what you guys have added in customization wise so far! I wanted to bring some attention to some zandalari troll ideas & there are some kul tiran ones as well in the same thread!

Also, I know core races won’t be looked at for a while but I wanted to drop in this thread about dark spear trolls for whenever you guys decide to revisit adding options for them

Super excited to see what else you guys have been working on for the allied races!

I feel some races playing some classes in gw2 is so odd. I’d feel the same way if every race could be every class in wow, though there are some additions I want.

Elementalists throw me. Was a human thing, and you were limited to one Element. (in gw1)

That Charr can be them is so weird.

I feel like norn don’t fit as necromancers and engineers.

That I can see too.

Still I get why they did it.

Though I’m not sure I want that in WoW… Some races and the way they’ve setup their power is far more restrictive than how GW2 is setup just by lore alone. (though again GW2 technically retconned a lot to make that possible.)
