We playing the same game? lol. It’s hard not to see the sheer volume of machinery that is ever-present across almost every race and culture.
…steampunk IS in the game. It’s the entire gnomish technology aesthetic. Like, they quite literally & canonically use a fuel called phlogiston, which is crystallized steam. Not sure what to tell you man, this game has guns, motorcycles, planes, mechs, kaiju-mechs, robots, entire civilizations of such, and more. Are you petrified of the Isle of Mechagon and Ulduar or something?
Just tired of people’s WoW Fan-Fic/Lite Erotica tumblr’s leaking over into Gen with every rebarfed “I WANNA BE A STEAM PUNKY!” concept being reposted ad nauseum by the same 5~ people.
Not hurt, just exhausted of the same 2-3 topics. OMG GEMMIE STEAMPUNK. OMG GEMMIE HOUSING. If you want these things, go play ffxiv, they have both.
But it’s really a simple premise.
WoW’s universe has Tinkers, just as NPCs.
People want to play as an Iconic WoW Tinker. With the mech and the turrets and the rockets.
So people will ask for Tinkers in WoW.
Simple as that.
I don’t know who hurt you in the past.
But you can continue to play a Bland Blood elf Paladin, no one is going to take that away from you. You can continue to play this like a generic fantasy game, While players who want Tinkers continue to ask for them!
Lets take a look at the WC3 hero classes for a moment shall we?
Death Knight, check
Monk, check
Demon Hunter, check
Most of the others besides tinker are on the list for hero talents, such as Farseer, Keeper of the Grove, etc…
What is a WC3 hero class that isn’t a class yet, and not on the list of names for hero talent specs? Tinker, leaving it wide open.
Not now for this expansion, but in the next It would be necessary, it should be noted that you are not alone in that Blizzard was shouted out for the tinker class from BfA.
But nevertheless, we have: EVOKERS… the most cringe thing Blizzard has ever done.
It’s like this, in my thread and threads referring to the tinkers, I even gave four specs in which it would be 2 RDPS as a range and caster class, an alchemist healer like Ana from OW2 and a combination of Tank mecha that would be similar to D.Va and him. same Gazlowe in HotS.
So even like you, we maintain the hope that Blizzard brings the tinker as a Class as a better option, not as a sub-class or hero talent.
You mean Engineers. They’re Engineers. Not “tinkerers” or “machinists”, or any other self-imposed fantasyland. They’re engineers. You can already be an engineer in game. You can already create rockets, bombs, and machines. It already exists; but that isn’t what you actually want, is it? You want whatever insane fan-fic self-creation you’ve drummed up in your brain. This isn’t a one-off random WC3 single unit with low cost; outside of that exact bizarre scenario - it doesn’t exist in WoW’s universe.
Completely agree. Does not exist inside the universe, should not exist inside the universe, does not have a place inside the universe, and will continue to not exist inside of the warcraft universe. What you’re looking for is engineering.
And you can continue to be told “No” by the overwhelming majority of people who don’t want to participate in your head-canon events.
There is an infinite amount of problems present in the game already, and creating more clown-shoes based classes is never the answer. We need less bizarre-head-canon driven fan-fic, and more realistic class balance/game development.
Incorrect, they are in Warcraft however much you may wish otherwise:
As well as being represented as tinker in multiple other WoW games even if not 100% undeniable cannon as WC3 is, such as Gazlow the listed Tinker hero in Heroes of the Storm:
And as I already posted above, from WC3 every hero class has either been made a WoW class since it (death knight, monk, demon hunter) or hero talent in the list from the last Blizzcon (such as Keeper the Grove, Farseer, etc…) except tinker, the class that very much exists in WC3, a class, not a profession as is continously pointed out that has nothing to do with the Tinker Hero or Class.
No just ignoring your personal headcannon that one of the classes in WC3 was renamed and turned into a profession and that it isn’t just the profession as it is, since there is not a single official source saying such.
Oh, okay, can you show me the existence of one single Tinker mob in World of Warcraft?
Note: Not something from WC3, Hearthstone, a title from a novel, or otherwise - Something inside World of Warcraft that acknowledges Tinker as a class, spec, or otherwise? Something that acknowledges, in any capacity, players being able to “tinker”, become a “tinkerer”, specialize as a “tinkerer”, “tinker with items”, or anything in any way.
Just one. Should be easy.
Because I’ve got 9 entire expansions with over 100,000 quests, monsters, gatherable items that indicate engineering is a thing, and exists… and always has… and has always made goggles, bombs, rockets, machinations, etc.
Them & High Elf fans are like a ravenous cancer – They’re gonna keep coming back.
I mean heck even if they get what they asked for, they’re gonna keep jabbing the wound, it’ll never be good enough for them.
I don’t have time to gather a list but there are plenty. Goblin piloting mechs that exist since vanilla, the gnome leader, and most of all the horde island expedition trio that showcases how 3 specs could play.
Seems to me that engineering as a profession is open to anyone, but only the most qualified and prestigious can advance with the right amount of experience and ingenuity to make it a life path and dawn the title of Tinker to better separate themselves from the apprentices and juniors of the General Engineering practices.
I would think a Tinker is the advanced culmination of all types of engineering sub fields be it mastering various aspects that make up engineering as the general population of Azeroth know it, even all the close secrets held tightly by both the Gnomes and Goblins with their specialized take in the field.
That’s just some quick head cannon I just made up in a couple minutes.
But there is enough material there existing in the game now to easily build off of.
The idea of a Tinker class is really not a difficult one to explore and implement in a very logical manner. The only question is will they do it? Or more precisely… when? Because there is no reason NOT to do it.
Another way to think about it is this…
Engineering is what you do.
Tinker is who you are, who you are as a people/tribe/guild/group etc.
