It’s one of the few wc3 things we’re missing. We got evoker which isn’t even from wc3.
That just answered your question.
How exactly?
I think that would’ve made perfect sense in BfA with the Azerite.
edit: Maybe there can be more powerful resources when we encounter Ogrezonia.
They had every opportunity to pull inspiration from WC3 and they didn’t. Instead we got…w/e tf evokers are supposed to be. So as long as this team is in charge of new classes, it’s safe to say never.
Necromancer and Tinker are both over due.
Hopefully never.
Considering new classes have been roughly an every-other-expansion thing, at least four more years. Unless they choose something else. I would settle in and get used to not having them, perhaps ever. Sorry
I would say when fly but then again we do have that mount so really up to Blizzard.
What does a tinker do and how would it work in a 5 man?
Thematically, when ever we go to Order’s celestial realm is my guess. It will probably involve Mimirion in some way.
Honestly? Hopefully never.
There’s nothing a tinker would bring that would either steal or limit what other classes or engineering would bring.
I’d like to see it go the way of the Dark ranger and become a cosmetic that engineers can use to live out their tinker fantasy along with some more gadgets that benefit people beyond the the engineer.
Never. There’s next to no point in adding a class whose identity can already be achieved by playing any class with engineering, no matter how much tinker supporters cry that the two can coexist. If I want to beat enemies to death with a wrench, I can play a Prot warrior, Prot paladin, Outlaw, Enhancement, or Frost DK, and if I want to throw bombs and sic attack robots on them, I can play a hunter.
The biggest problem tinker faces is the question of how you make it relevant to the story in a coherent manner, as the last four classes were inherently tied to the stories and themes of the expansions they were introduced in. I can’t think of any way you could add tinkers to an expansion while making them play a significant role and not take a backseat to the rest of the story after the initial patch. Many of the suggested scenarios I’ve read for how to add them have been shortsighted ones like “tinkers help bolster the Alliance and Horde’s war efforts in Kul Tiras and Zandalar” and “tinkers open the way to the Shadowlands” with little to no thought as to how they would actually fit in these stories.
And this is a minor strike, but the previous classes were all separate from the Alliance and Horde until they joined them at the beginning of their respective expansions: DKs returned to their factions after regaining their free will, monks were brought by the pandaren, DHs returned to their factions after Maiev freed them, and evokers joined us after being freed from stasis. Tinkers would have to come from within the Alliance and Horde, thus killing the above plot point and putting them in the awkward territory of “was always there, but hung around in the background until they were needed”.
Exactly. They came up with something completely new, so odds are any future classes will be similarly new concepts instead of ones dredged up from a game that will be old enough to drink 5 months from now.
The closest thing we have to that right now is the gnome and goblin heritage armors, the various engineering goggles, and engineering profession equipment, but here’s hoping the trading post someday has some kind of mechanical-themed set.
How about an expansion with 2 new classes with 2 specs each?
Tinker with DPS and Tank, uses plate
Bard with DPS and Heals, uses either mail or cloth
I’d say blizzard would never do it but then they spewed out Evoker so anything is possible.
September 21st, 2039.
Can we agree the only Races allowed to roll Tinker:
- Goblin
- Undead
- Vulpera
- Gnome
- Mecha Gnome
- Dwarf
Engineering kind of takes the role of tinker so its kind of hard to make tinkers without essentially eating the profession.
Tank with Mech suit, heal with alchemical solutions and dps with ranged gun and turrets.
In short, Fight with the power of SCIENCE!
Right after Bard…
In Legion the draenei built a whole space ship from what they had laying about on their lawn.
I’m pretty sure that gets you into the tinkerer’s guild. Not sure what the Vulpera offer lorewise. They ride about in wagons…
