But being denied is a social experience.
It’s crystal clear these guys just want to gatekeep everyone and are terrified their boosting services and gdkp businesses will be much less profitable if lfd isn’t removed.
That’s not stretching or making an assumption. That’s just obvious; there’s no reason to be against dungeon finder otherwise. As you said: they can literally do exactly what they want to do even with lfd around as far as manually forming their ‘uber groups.’
Hey, it’s an educated guess! Since the elitists and gatekeepers are the banes of their existence. xD Almost all of the pro-Dungeon Finder conversation has boiled down to:
- I can’t play the game because the elitists won’t let me!
- If you say you feel more part of a community when you form groups manually, you’re a liar.
- The 5,000 players on dead realms can’t run dungeons! Therefore, Dungeon Finder for all 400,000 of us!
- Forming a dungeon group requires me to spend my entire day looking for people! All 16 hours!
- It’s not 1997 anymore Blizzard, I went and had kids and got a job and I can’t play the game as much as I used to. Therefore, Classic needs to become less time-consuming!
- You just don’t want your boosting business to suffer! If they implement Dungeon Finder, all of the people whose idea of leveling is sitting AFK at the instance portal will suddenly feel like actually playing the game!
These are somewhat simplified and slightly exaggerated, of course. Usually they’ll also throw in a nice

yeah thats not player friendly, agreed. but the alternative is like playing an rpg instead of a mmorpg because the most interaction you can expect is being vote kicked for failing to keep the tank alive during a bad pull.
Why would they talk in a non-RDF run then? Why are you afraid to group with people outside of your circle of friends? Why are you inflexible to different run comps?
I hereby give you an award for learning how to quote 10 things at once, use said quotes out of context, and give no context of your own.
Well done!
i confess i boost or rather carry people on my 70 mage. i dont typically charge for it but if they wanna tip me, i’ll usually accept. also, i ask people i’m carrying to be on discord with me because i have mangled fingers and cant type fast enough to resolve problems when they arise/if they arise…and nobody in their right mind would carry a full group of 25s thru gnomeregan and its varied eccentricities without instant communication.
Because a year later some of us are still trying to get past the gatekeepers.
grin. oh boy, you are talking to a chatterbox. i’m very sociable. i actively seek out people who need help completing content, whether in or out of my guild.
what server you on?
Then why are you afraid of RDF? Is something preventing you from chatting to people you don’t normally run with?
lol i run with people i dont normally run with all the time. i have power levelled more complete strangers to outlands, for no compensation other than the positive environment it creates.
I PUG BGs often and it’s miserable
Yes, that would be nice.
Nah, I spend a lot of time doing content I don’t need in order to help guildies. It’s the responsibility of the GM.
Nah, opposite. Gotta gear up the guildies to improve our squad.
Nope, we just switched a guy to moonkin this week. And man I’m so greatful. Recruiting a moonkin that doesn’t have a personality defect has been a struggle for 6 months. Much happier to move a reliable raider to that position and help him gear up with all the crafted gear and off night heroic ruins, Karas, and ZAs that we can.
Yup, it’s better when people have some say over who they are grouping with. Putting strangers together that have vastly different levels of experience and expectations is a recipe for disaster.
What backwards server are you playing on where you have to spam for hours to get groups? You should consider transferring and joining a proper guild.
LOL
If the “community” you’re talking about is the morons that I unfortunately have to carry every time I queue battlegrounds, then I suppose you’re right. I don’t give a damn about those useless, incompetent, 80 IQ idiots that can’t even be bothered performing the most basic and fundamental skills.
Oh, and they’d be better off listening to OP who just now came to classic, is multiple tiers behind, has their gear enchanted and gemmed all wrong, and wants free carries from players that would never willingly group with them except out of pity?
create multiple chat windows for this, so you don’t get LFG spam mixed with your guild/raid/party chat, trade chat, etc.
expectations, expectations, expectations. simply put it’s better not to have the game grouping people together arbitrarily who have vastly different expectations.
I have no problem helping out undergeared players when it’s my guildie and I’m helping my team get stronger. But randoms that I’m never going to group with again, and they’re not only undergeared but far worse they don’t use any of their CC, they constantly break my own CC, they don’t even push the buttons they DO use in the correct order? NO THANK YOU. Get carried by somebody else you useless bum.
Exactly this. You have matched expectations for the group this way, where everyone is on the same page about how much CC you’ll use or how much you’re going to pull everything and AoE it down.
You have matched expectations with regards to whether it’s OK for one of your DPS to AFK for 15 minutes in the middle of the dungeon.
You have matched expectations with regards for whether it’s OK for someone to roll on loot that their class won’t even use.
LFG cannot offer these things. And LFG creates a situation where guildies are less likely to work together, because rather than post in the guild Discord and say “hey, who can run this heroic after work tonight?” nobody is going to help the expectation will be for the person who needs it to just queue LFG with all the faceless randoms they’re never gonna see again.
I down content without the meta group comp all the time. Skilled players with matched expectations is far more important than having an exact combination of classes.
You’re right about one thing though, I absolutely don’t want to interact with people that AFK in the middle of runs, roll on loot when it makes zero sense to do so, break my blind and sap, backpedal into the next pack of mobs and cause a wipe, etc etc.
I’d rather take a smart group consisting of 3 rogues than a random assortment of drooling, half-AFK morons.
That’s nice you run people through dungeons just out of the kindness of your heart. But how does dungeon finder prevent that?
Ok… So don’t carry my 5th alt… Can I put you down for carrying my 6th alt though?
During LK my 3th Alt was a Protection pally and I ran a lot of RDF’s, never had any complaints. (most of the time got asked if I would stay grouped and queue again).
oh it doesnt prevent it, it just removes the need for people to be kind to one another. if i’m helping you level, even though you are a stranger, by running you thru sunken temple, odds are you arent gonna be rude or unsociable. in fact, you’ll probably just be happy and thankful. but if i’m running with you on RDF, chances are you will be unsociable and so will everyone else. lol
Watching the elitist gatekeeping in this thread is truly eye opening. Hopefully it opens Blizzard’s eyes too.
so just because someone isnt bis they have to be carried?
seriously?
