The tears will get saltier

Start with Skeram or Stalagg alliance. let me know how it goes.

So you obviously have information regarding server populations and yet still went to a pvp server and got destroyed? That’s absolutely crazy.

Here are the best numbers I can find: https://ironforge.pro/servers/

Based on that, Skeram and Stalagg definitely seem to be good places, with something like 30/70 faction balance.

Though, I had initially thought about Sulfuras, which incidentally is balanced about equally with Whitemane.

Like I said, let me know how it turns out. I am highly skeptical that any type of grassroots effort can make a dent in these imbalances (and especially without harming existing servers) as players have proven time and time again to be unwilling to accept challenges if they dont come with tangible rewards, but id love to be surprised.

I’d recommend you check out a book called, “The White Man’s Burden: Why the West’s Efforts to Aid the Rest Have Done So Much Ill and So Little Good” (https://www.amazon.ca/White-Mans-Burden-Efforts-Little/dp/0143038826) for some insight in how top-down efforts can end up having little positive impact, whereas bottom-up can have such successful ones, for communities where being involved in the culture matters.

But I do realize (and am actually calling you out on) your own refusal to do anything to help.

I think I’ll actually check that out tbh. You a sociologist?

Software engineer, but my initial academic interests where in psychology and linguistics.

Oh nice mate!

OK, so I am in Menethril Harbor, on my level 2 Dwarf, named Snipy, on Stalagg (come say hi, if you’d like).

It’s true! There’s a single rogue attacking, and five or six Alliance defending (at the moment). Wow, WPVP so hard!

Will update if the situation changes…

UPDATE:

Rogue and Druid attacking.

UPDATE II:
Two rogues, a Druid, _and a Hunter.

UPDATE III:
And a mage!

They are retreating in the water.

There are about a dozen Alliance, level 60s defending.

UPDATE IV:
The dozen or so Alliance level 60s left, and pmuch immediately after that, the 5 Horde came back, and are killing things. Or at least, they strolled through town, killing things, and then left.

A couple of them are back. The Horde numbers do not seem to be growing, but the Alliance numbers seem to be dwindling.

UPDATE V:
OK, there’s another mage, and a warrior as well!

So, that’s:

Horde
1 druid
2 rogues
1 hunter
2 mages
1 warrior

Alliance
1 hunter
3 mages
2 paladins
1 warlock
2 warriors

On the Alliance side, there is a general lack of coordination. Nobody is discussing anything in General Chat or Local Defense. A level 60 Alliance Warrior just AFKed on the docks, and was then killed.

The mages have hit me a couple of times with I’m guessing Rank 1 frost bolt, as I’m dancing on the dock, as a level 2 dwarf warrior, and it did 57 damage, which was about 60% of my health.

Conclusion

I don’t think I’ve learned anything with this exercise, other than what we already knew, that a coordinated group of either faction, can beat an uncoordinated group of equal or slightly larger size, and that I have seen nothing to indicate that I would have any particular issues leveling in Wetlands as Alliance on Stalagg.

Post-Conclusion Update

Actually, I’ve stuck around, and am chatting with some people here on Stalagg. It seems that there is some belief that free transfers lead to a lot of Alliance leaving, and the current imbalance, that seems to be here, but that the Alliance are beginning to fight back, and have better guilds, so there is a feeling of hope.

Or at least, that’s what I’m getting from the conversations.

I was really trying to start a thread exactly like this. I didnt realize how ignorant, disrespectful, and indecent this community can be. It is horrible. I am not trying to attack anyone here, but look at these responses on these threads.

This is all just ignorant of everyone’s time and thought. These comments and these attitudes do absolutely nothing to help or aide anyone in anyway.

This is not true. I had no idea when I started this character on stalagg (i misstated Herod in another post) that it was going to be impossible to play as my faction. I knew and was warned about queue times and that was it. There is no faction balance warning. There is no warning. Yes, I want pvp in all the lands. 3+ vs 1 is not at all what i signed up for on a daily, hourly, every minute of gameplay basis. Getting camped by an hour or so, i signed up for, making an enemy for the server existence i signed up for. Death run from logging in and leaving town till i get off 8 hours later getting 1 bar of xp cause i cant do anything is not what i signed up for, it was not warned, and it is not fun.

The “you think you do but you don’t” comment referring to pvp is wrong. I do, I want playable pvp. I want a playable game to enjoy my time. This is not Vanilla. This is not the Population Scale of Vanilla. These server are immensely larger and the world pvp is immensely larger. It is not playable on many servers. It is not playable at certain times of the day in certain zones.

When I was referring to “they”, I was referring to the masses, not exceptions such as yourself. People are going to get burned out farming honour soon enough… the system was not designed for the average player such as yourself and I. Also, the system was only implemented four days ago. Hang in there. Level alts in a different zone/level bracket… honestly, there’s no better time to have an alt or three to work on.

I can’t see Blizzard doing much more than introducing free transfers again. The faction imbalance is a player problem, not a Blizzard problem.

It was part of the original BlizzCon announcement. Watch the video. I don’t have the energy to skim it to find it.

What you call a problem others have been waiting to play for years. This phase 2 has a massive following. Pservers have been reliving phase 2 for years.

Google STVietnam and you will see plenty.

I like to put on record that my horde toon which is my alt and lower level is actually better geared than my main.

So far my experience has been my horde had it really easy from a pve standpoint. Plenty of dungeons plenty of quests. Flight paths at very convenient locations. My alliance toon on the other hand feels like I had to work for everything. In fact deadmines was the last time I felt my character had easy access to gear. Everything after that was hard earned.

Meanwhile my horde toon just walks along with the theme park experience acquiring things with a fraction of the effort. Almost feels like a handout.

awful logic, should all criticism be ignored then because somebody is always going to come up with some kind of complaint? you haven’t given me a single reason as to why the complaints about extreme faction imbalance are not invalid. what would you do if 80% of your server was alliance? would you really not care?

Yet more proof Horde is EZ mode.

Says the guy who chose the class that’s the literal definition of “EZ mode” for PvPing. /moo

ironically, stv is actually quite peaceful right now. i finished up some quests there on an alt on friday with very little issue. Its redridge, burning steppes, menethil/theramore boats, any 45+ zone that looks like a horde warzone.

Yep, because people are out to get their honor. So level 50ish zones.

BUT, wait until BGs are released. Then, it’s going to be about lower levels again.

PvP realm life.
