The tears will get saltier

They could micro balance the servers on a nuclear scale and players will still get ganked.
Nothing will stop groups from doing it. Gankers dont care about balance.
If you are a 60 who sits in a major city bouncing around on your mount instead of patrolling leveling zones, then you are failing as a PvP player.
It cant always be as grand as Ss vs TM, get out there and help your side.

ā€¦ what?

a metaphor

Sure, there are plenty of things they could do, but why should they? The imbalance isnā€™t very bad anyway.

And, there is plenty that the playerbase can do to even things out, if they so choose.

The reality seems to be that most people donā€™t really care, but forum posters do seem to like to cry and whine about difficulties.

Allowing a known UX issue to persist while a simple solution is avaialble is pure incompetence.
Once this hits their bottom line of subscriber dollars + stock price this Vanilla purist BS will die real fast.
At the end of the day - Blizz doesnā€™t give a crap about you, vanilla, being pure to roots, etc - they care about money.

If they donā€™t - Blizzard Activision is a terrible company.

Well, the reality is when faced with options that include: pay to play a game where one literally cannot participate in any open world activities without being perpetually corpse camped 10v1, or reroll and throw away all their existing character progress, they are more likely to simply quit and unsubscribe.

I dont think this is an end result we should be aiming for when it comes to the gameā€™s health, but apparently some people are happy to see this occur.

I notice that you ignore any possibility of taking control, or responsibility.

But the imbalance isnā€™t anywhere near 10 to 1.

Oh hell yeah - thereā€™s no way Iā€™m rerolling. This is a 15 year old game - the people who are playing vanilla for vanilla are at least late 20s to mid 30s ; these are people who Iā€™d like to imagine have jobs, families, responsibilities etc -

Those of us who have the ability to reroll - and re-level a 60 with 10-20 days of playtime ā€¦ hey, more power to ya in the welfare line.

For the rest of us - itā€™s more than likely itā€™s quit and find something thatā€™s actually fun.

Maybe on your server.

Nor your server, nor anyoneā€™s on this thread. 60/40 sure, thatā€™s an imbalance, but is that bad enough for you to be crying in public?

Have you actually -read- what was posted? Or, are are you just assuming -

Probably easy to say when your faction is the one camping 10-40 man raids on every flightpoint.

Good let em quit, they only want what is good with a 2006 experience and not the bad that actually happened for about 2 months back then. These people are to blame for whats wrong with retail and them getting their way. I hope Blizzard stick to their guns and donā€™t release a BG till January. These people want a PVE experience on a PVP server. Thats not how its suppose to be. If you dont like phase 2. Quit, you are unsuited for this part of the game.

This is where your logic has its fatal flaw. This game isnt free, leveling takes ample amounts of time investment and subscription cost. The average player will not continue to pay for a product that does not bring them enjoyment.

They wont post here, they wont say anything - theyā€™ll simply unsubscribe if something isnt changed to make that enjoyment return. For them, hitting ā€˜unsubscribeā€™ is taking control.

Is this the end result you aim for?

Iā€™m just going by numbers based on reports.

Saying things like, ā€œItā€™s easy to say when ā€¦ā€ doesnā€™t really help the case that you among others are greatly exaggerating perceived issues, that simply donā€™t exist.

What your saying is basically is that if things donā€™t change, people will unsubscribe. Iā€™m not trying to argue that that isnā€™t true.

What I would question though is whether there is any evidence or anything to indicate that the issues you are claiming are indeed true. And, further if any of the changes you are proposing would indeed affect subscriptions going forward.

Sure, many people wonā€™t post on the forums, and I wouldnā€™t use that as a case to argue that they arenā€™t experiencing any issues, but I also wouldnā€™t assume that they are. It could be that there is a very tiny, very vocal minority who is screaming and crying. Perhaps if they unsubscribed, the game would be better, and more subscriptions would last longer. Thatā€™s not a claim I am making though, as I donā€™t know. I donā€™t have any data to suggest that.

Are you claiming the opposite though?

I mean, if you dont believe the problems described exist in spite of the endless quantity of clearly unhappy players posting about their experiences on these forums, Iā€™m not sure what more anyone can say to you. Make a level 1 dwarf on a horde dominated high pop server and corpse jump into wetlands. Stroll over to redridge. Try to hop on a boat to theramore or auberdine.

A tiny handful seems more accurate.

Fair enough ask. OK, Iā€™ll give it a shot.

So it seems your solution then, if we follow it to its logical conclusion, is that alliance, being the minority, should simply quit or reroll because horde is the majority faction and enjoy the current situation. We are clearly quite far apart on what we consider a healthy game population.

Yea you should reroll if you donā€™t like where you are at. Itā€™s really not a bad idea.

My solution is to find a server where there really is a faction imbalance, and create a guild on that server called <Balance>. To recruit people, including students and those transitioning from other fields, into IT, PR, Marketing, Software Development, and Content Creation, and to make a concerted effort to grow a community.
