I haven’t seen a single warning pop up on the top of my screen in months. I had a chat silence for 7 days back in shadowlands. Looking at past tickets, I see that was 2 years ago. It’s been probably a year since I saw any warnings pop up on the top of my screen.
I have so many questions.
Is there no cooldown period? Doesn’t matter if it’s days or literal years between punishment, it still goes up to the next level of punishment???
2 of the 3 examples I was given for why I have a 15 day suspension active right now were in conversations where everybody was being vulgar, and though I know who reported me in hindsight (hardcore troll, I should have known better) - my question is, how is it context doesn’t matter at all? it’s clear it doesn’t, because those examples wouldn’t have been used when i asked for examples of why i was suspended.
I was told by multiple GMs over the years that profanity can be allowed in guilds as long as it is made absolutely clear to everybody coming in. Is this still the case?
Do I have to worry about escalation to permanently being banned for this sort of thing?
there must be a way to look at examples of why i’m getting the in game “you have been reported for whatever” right? most of the time i’ve gotten these popups it had been dozens of minutes since i was even talking to anybody. or even when logging in after not being online for a chunk of time. how do i take it seriously when i have no idea what i did to earn the warning? how bad is a system when FACEBOOK does it a lot better?
I get it, trying to appease people. But there’s an ignore feature. So I only get it to a point. And a 15 day suspension for the exceedingly mild examples I was shown is purely mind blowing to me. My best friend quit this game a while ago because he could see where it was going. He constantly reminds me my returning to this game looks like I keep going back to an abusive girlfriend, and I agree with him. Especially with the mild reasons I got the current 15 day suspension.
It’s troubling. But I can’t ask the questions in a ticket because they get ignored and it goes straight to “We AlReAdY uPhElD tHiS sUsPeNsIoN” sure but my questions weren’t answered at all. It took 3 or 4 retries just to be shown what specifically I did.
No, there isn’t any cool down, regardless of how long it between account actions.
Context isn’t a factor because you agree not to use curse words and the like. Context won’t change the fact that you’ve used such in-game.
I think you’re misremembering: Cursing in the game isn’t allowed at all, regardless of guild or not. The guild is an at will thing so they would be less likely to look at it, but if reported, they will still account action someone.
If you can’t control your fingers on the matter? Yes, you would.
Didn’t you said you got examples in your question 2?
Past violations are always considered when reviewing new violations, they do not wear off. It shows you are aware of the rules.
You can be completely toxic with out using any foul language, though masked language is also considered. You can’t rely on someone using a filter if you are going to use spelling that bypasses said filger.
What you receive as examples are not indicitive of what you were actually actioned for. It’s to give a timeline though for when the incident occured.
Guild chat is considered when reviewing reports. It is not as likely to be reported, because most users can leave at will, but, any chat in any channel can be reported.
Please review the Rules and Social contract you agreed to, and it should go smoother in the future. Be aware, these penalties can continue to increase.
I’m not toxic, which is why this is my problem. You can use “bad words” in context that isn’t remotely negative. Though I’m aware a massive number of people thin bad words are bad, forever, always, which sucks for those of us who disagree.
That is highly problematic.
The funny thing here, is they are wildly open to perspective. what i think is acceptable, many others may not. and the reverse as well.
Context should be a factor. Context is a major part of communication.
I specifically asked and multiple GMs specifically responded. I remember clearly.
This is patently absurd.
Not for the popups. I received examples for the suspension. I haven’t spent the time to put in tickets for the popup warnings. Speaking of context, the context should have been crystal clear on what I was talking about here.
No, it really doesn’t. You agree to the rules, they don’t go away because you said it within some context. They’re not going to throw the rules out because someone was mad. They’re going to action the person for pushing the enter button for it.
I guess that’s fair enough. Just because it’s a conversation of a certain type, doesn’t make it fit within a rigid rule structure.
I’ll never understand the ban on “bad words” in a game that emulates mass murder, torture, biological and chemical warfare. It just seems rather insane.
My biggest problem is the hyper-vague finger-wagging when you get a warning. Going to need an example to have a clue what triggered the warning. I mentioned facebook because 100% of the time you get a smack on the hand, there’s a screenshot or quote of what was posted/said. At least it gives you a clue.
And that’s a problem. When you log in and get a vague “hey you’ve been bad” when you’ve not cussed or been rude to anyone for a long time - seriously. This should be a no-brainer. Give some information on what prompted the warning, specifically.
As someone who has held various manager and supervisor roles, I would never consider scolding someone out of the blue, without giving them feedback on what they did. It’s counter productive. Without explaining what they did specifically, there is no expectation that they’ll know what to correct. People don’t inherently understand everything they’re doing that is considered against guidelines. Interpretation is everything.
I’m having doubts, from what I have seen on these forums from the Blues, that is never the case, along with your 15 day suspension. Just so you know, the action will probably be a Permaban.
Just file the appeal and wait for response. You are not gonna get any clarification here on the forums, and this thread is gonna be likely locked or 404ed.
I posted this thread because they don’t respond to questions in the appeal. I expected it to go south the moment I posted it. So, I’m not sure why I bothered. Misguided hope, unfortunately.
Uh, yeah. It doesn’t work that way anymore. Blizzard has had enough of Players running their mouths. You jump to a 15 suspension from a 7 day silence. Apparently you cannot control how you type.
