The official blizzard guides on this seem to be outdated, as are other posts on this topic.
I think I need a GM that is able to view my quest history to be able to point me in the right direction. These guides also need to be updated.
Issue:
On this character I want to go to shadow lands to do [Consulting Our Allies]. This character did not quest through shadowlands.
In ORG i take portal to oribos in the portal room, oribos is virtually empty – no flight master, no quest pop ups, no quest NPCs
I hearth back to Org. I take the shadowlands starting quest from the ebon blade in org. I chose skip the Maw intro (since ive done it on my druid)
i am teleported to oribos, there are more NPCs but still no campaign quests, no flight master
I have low level quest tracking on, and warband completed disabled
In the questlog under shadowlands campaign it says “1/2 chapters” with “through the shattered sky completed” and “arrival in shadowlands” grayed out.
I’ve literally ran around in circles for over an hour. And I am not the only one who has/had this issue. Starting shadowlands campaign as a max level character is a broken experience.
Update, response from game master: After having investigated your situation, we have received several reports of this issue and can confirm it is not working as intended and our developers are already working on a fix so that it can be resolved as quickly as possible.
Currently, we do not have a workaround or resolution that can be provided and we apologize for any inconvenience that this might have caused you for the time being.
In this case, we ask that you kindly wait a bit longer until the situation is fixed.
I know this is a different answer than the one you were hoping to receive, however I hope that you are able to continue your adventures in the Shadowlands as soon as possible! ^^

Grabbing the Shadowlands intro quest and choosing to skip the Maw intro should teleport you to Oribos, then you have to approach 2 NPC’s, who will then send you into the main room to talk to other NPC’s. If that’s not working, then it’s a bug and not something a GM would be able to help with.
Make sure you have trivial quest tracking turned on.
Ive ran around with trivial quest tracking turned on, there are no campaign quests popping up or quest NPCs. If this is a bug, then based on other people reporting the same issue it has been bugged for over a year.
I am not sure if its best to duplicate this into the bug forum or if a GM can still help with some direction, or otherwise move the post for me
The Shadowlands intro was working perfectly as of 3 weeks ago. I did it again on 2 alts (even using the campaign skip). So unless this is a brand new bug that started with 11.0.5 (which is possible), then you’re missing something or doing something wrong.
Did you take the portal room to shadowlands before doing the starting quest, then teleport back to org to do it from the quest starter? Because that is what I did and maybe thats the difference. If I am missing something then its not obvious to myself, or others.
Nope. I have never tried to use the Oribos portal before doing the intro quest (using Maw skip) and doing the 3 or 4 quests necessary to open the portals from that side. That said, merely going somewhere should not affect anything.
You cannot enter the Maw from Oribos until you either get to the point in the campaign that sends you there, or do the campaign skip. But the campaign skip did work as of 3 weeks ago (I can’t test it in 11.0.5 as I have no more alts that haven’t done it).
Using the portal room first is probably the difference in reproducing the bug and “breaking” trying to enter the shadowlands w/ maw skip via the intro quest after.
Fatescribe has no quest for me, he just chats about the purpose, after clicking through as you did in the video he offers nothing.
If you are level 60 or higher when you do the intro or use the Maw skip, he should appear the moment you enter Oribos and offer the campaign skip then. So I’m not sure. Like I said, all of my alts have fully unlocked all the Shadowlands stuff so I don’t have anything I can test with, short of creating a new allied race and doing it via Chromie Time.
He did not for me, nor for the person who also shared the issue in tech support. It is fine you cant reproduce it, but it is an issue that is happening.
I think there’s definitely a few of us having the same issues. me included. done the same thing except I didn’t skip the quest and was in a party with someone who hasn’t done shadowlands on any characters. I didn’t get the follow up quest after going through the intro, my friend did. But now I’m stuck, unable to complete any quests on this character
Yes, I’m just saying if it is a bug, it’s a brand new bug that started with the release of 11.0.5, and not something that’s been going on for years as you implied.
that comment was based on Oribos Flight Mastser is Missing – It may not be the same bug/issue, but besides the main point and more so based on venting my frustration in trying to figure this out. Thanks for sharing what you have tried to give me some things to look at
no, guessing either our character quest progress is bugged or the intro quest itself is bugged. might have to wait for a blue to raise it up the totem pole
It’s either bugged or been completely removed for new alts to skip.
I managed to do the skip on 3 characters on October 21st and 22nd which honestly surprised me as that feature had been removed. I just wanted to run the old raids for mogs.
October 23rd (11.0.5 release date) the skip was broken. I was able to skip the Maw part fine, but after that, character stuck.
After using the unstuck character feature and relogging, I was able to get into Oribos but there is nothing there for that character to do.
I tested an alt a day or 2 ago and was able to start the questlines just fine, provided I did not hit skip the maw.
You honestly need to move this thread to Bug Reports though.
There are NO GM’s here.
A Blue may however be able to set you right on a quest, they have done that when time allows and you are on a questline that can be tracked on their end (meaning nothing is bugged)
yea i hope they can triage. honestly i have never seen a blue interact with bug report, and this is game breaking in the sense an entire xpac of content is locked out for some characters that are eligible to play it. If a blue wants to consolidate threads across forums on this not gonna complain over it or anything though.
They can assist sometimes in seeing where people have left off in quest lines etc but this one, yeah this one is “different”, for many many players, myself included.
Fortunately, I have many many toons I can run through the old raids as I did it when it was current and had to do the storyline over and over, I have no desire to ever do it again.
