Title ^ Blizzard, Shadowlands has to be good…
Usually there’s a great expansion after a terrible one.
All we have to do is to hope they won’t break the pattern.
WotLK - Great
Cata - Terrible
MoP - Great
WoD - Terrible
Legion - Great
Bfa - Terrible
It won’t be. We barely know anything about it but we already know they’re repeating the exact same mistakes. Rental power, forced character choices with the conclaves and their abilities, Sylvanas focused story.
Dude, Shadowlands already seemingly consist of the same boring elements we have in this game.
Oh no, some stupid freaking tower oh god the game is going to be masterfully fixed thanks to this tower.
No, company is in Maintenance Mode.
TemTem already took that title
Oh definitely, I know the cycle. With the WCIII fiasco, and BfA being an absolute dumpster fire, and everything going on with this company, all I am saying is it better break the wheel…
I find BFA a mixed bag, I enjoyed it while I played more but it has problems with longevity due to a number of reasons.
Hoping that things in Shadowlands like the covenants and Torghast start adding more things that are fun over time that aren’t just “Rep grind, rep grind, rep grind, rep grind, rep grind, rep grind, rep grind,”
The problem with the “A-B” expansion reception is… well, the ONLY evidence is the expansion reception itself. The “why” of this pattern developing doesn’t have much basis in the factual record.
If anything, the recent disasters are starting to look unstoppable snowballing momentum… and it feels like it’s only a matter of time before WoW gets destroyed by it.
If Shadowlands is anything less than OUTSTANDING, it will likely be considered an abject failure by fans.
People are reading the writing on the walls.
It’s fine to put lipstick on tomorrow’s pig, but we don’t even know what this pig looks like yet.
Torghast? Innovative, maybe. But why?
Can we trust there won’t be a mathematically best covenant ability? And how will they balance the one class-specific ability for classes with multiple roles? Will a Mistweaver care about one covenant more than a Windwalker? How does it work for that monk?
If it isn’t then it will be my time to go. Legion was decent but not enough to make up for the travesties that were WoD and BfA. Oh how I wish we could go back to the BC-MoP era but alas ‘tis a pipe dream.
Cata > WotLK always it’s a matter of opinion
Yes.
Let’s justify anti-consumerism.
I’ve never had a worse experience in WoW than the Zul’Again patch, where I had to run a random Dungeon Finder with just two Dungeons in it (Zul’Aman and Zul’Gurub), both of them being far too hard for PuGs, seven times a week.
It was repetitive, soul crushing, the queues were enormous for DPS (and I’m a Warlock, so I can’t go “not DPS”) and the groups fell apart at least twice per dungeon run.
“Do you love Horrific Visions? Because it sound like most of the next expac you’ll get that same gameplay for two years with the tower of Torghast.” I can say that pre-ordering and trusting in Blizz on Shadowlands being good, already feels like a mistake on my part. I say that especially with how WCIII reforged has turned out, and how the tower sounds an awful lot like these cruddy visions. If I wanted to play Diablo III for it’s features I’d be doing that.
You ARE going to have a mathematically best Covenant ability. You are going to have a mathematically best EVERYTHING. If people CHOOSE to insist they only play the best bleeding-edge spec and talents, quit blaming Blizzard for not accomplishing the IMPOSSIBLE, which is perfect mathematical balance in a game this complex. Your need to only have the absolute best numbers is your problem to deal with.
It wont, classes wont get unprunned, no core rotational abilities or strong major cds and utility coming back, and the gcd change will still be in effect.
It ll be yet another rental power grind
Oh and they are gonna be forced by activision to release by the end of 2020 which means it ll be impossible to be ready and polished product
There is no scenario where Shadowlands wasn’t going to be released in 2020. None.
I’ll concede the basic truth that math dictates there WILL BE A best. That’s fair.
But saints alive the existence of Infinite Stars and Demon Hunter dps in 8.3 leads me to think there won’t just be a mathematically best, there will be a mathematical best by a SUBSTANTIAL margin that will be discussed and reported in Shadowlands beta, and NOTHING WILL BE DONE.
AND the players will take the hit because there will be a tax to swap Covenants when the DEVS don’t balance the mechanic.
To be honest, I liked the cataclysm, in my opinion they just miss up with Deathwing in the end. But after all, it was a good expansion for me.
Very true, many times they repeatedly end up having certain effects be way more broken than others, legendaries being a major example, instead of them being on par with one another you had fire bracers be a huge dps increase, so it became a no brainer even if you hated that playstyle.
Meanwhile if they were balanced dps wise, people would choose the one based on their own playstyle.
And covenant abilities are worse, because some are single target and others are AoE, so the cool covenant you like might be trash if you are not interested in AoE damage
