Questing as a mage

Which spec? Are you using your shield?

I leveled one as Arcane and killed everything before it got anywhere close to me since you can just sit at 4 arcane charges spamming Arcane Blast.

arcane spec…i didnt think the specs mattered while leveling

Try to pull from a distance. If there are multiples, make sure your shield is on, freeze them and blink away. Sheep one if needed.
I leveled my frost mage with no heirlooms, and I doubt I died once.

I really wish spells like scorch could be toggled to always just auto cast.

I never had an issue leveling as a mage. Arcane is pretty face roll too since you never have to lose your stacks. Just drink after nuking a few mobs.

Not true. Frost is the best spec for leveling (disclaimer: in my opinion). You have so many slows and ‘oh crap’ buttons as frost that helps you survive and get out of trouble. You won’t kill mobs as fast as fire, but you won’t die as often so it balances out.

Arcane is the worst for leveling but if you want a little more of an edge you could always turn warmode on for the extra abilities to help you out

its normal for just about all clothies.

Fire, fire, and fire. And fire shield.

Yes. I too know the pain of attempting to 1v1 an incursion objective guy.

At least until the Horde swoops in and turns my struggle into a 4V1. Their way.

At level 114 you lose most of legends power abilities ,and transition to bfa gear so it slows your ex and stats changes, some heirlooms such as trinkets become useless. This what I’ve seen.

No never had a problem… All 3 specs can level just fine IMHO. I prefer Arcane.

I have a question, are you wearing a full set of heirlooms? If you are that’s your problem. Azerite gear gives a ton of survivabilty in the form of health and traits (heal on kill, refreshing bubble).

We had this disagreement on the forums last year

Gotta either play around being more of a glass cannon than usual or wear azerite instead of heirlooms in their slots until quest turn in.

I agree though, it is quite spicy leveling in BFA in a full set of looms

Oh, another solution that almost slipped my mind, you may like this one even less though.

-Make a starter account
-Invite yourself to a group
-Activate party sync
-Quest in Azeroth

That’s how I level 1(20) - 120 :+1: I’ll never quest Legion or BFA again  I’m in Stonetalon Mountains right now on my 105 paladin lol

I’ve leveled 5 arcane mages to 120 with no problem at all.

Edit: I also use IcyVeins suggestions to determine what I want/need in the way of gear stats.

Learning to kite on your mage is a good skill to have as it translates to both pve and pvp.

Mage is like the only fun class to play while leveling as a dps. It actually teaches yo to kite , CC and time your cast.

Ever other class is either big weapon smash or Broly style what was that .

polymorph is your friend! cloth wearers are always a bit more squishy, so I’ve learned to use my utility spells to help me stay a safe distance from the mobs.
