Proper Reporting of Troublesome Addon Text help

What is the proper way of reporting violations of ToS when it’s stumbled upon in addon text? I was told from CS very recently to- rather than use the addon’s report link to detail the info on a battlenet page which takes takes a very long time for CS to sift through, they said- right click and “report,” but the only options are Name, Cheating, and Gameplay Sabotage.

Would it be under Gameplay Sabotage → Afk/Non-Participation?

Thanks for the reply.

Are you talking about a Roleplay addon? I would do chat violation, I know some of those addons have a built in report function. And I do know they nail people for inappropriate one as from a "recent"thread.

That can be used.

Yeah, from a Roleplay Addon.

When I right click a player, there is no option for “chat violation,” but only “Name, Cheating, and Gameplay Sabotage.”

I was told by a CS member to “right click and report them.”

I hope you can see my confusion.

Right-click their name in chat when they say something, that should allow you to report for chat.

But frankly… I’d still stick with the addon report link, because it was designed exactly for that. I… really think that was someone who just wanted to cut down the workload.

The RP addon now has an option to report from within the addon, depending on which one you use.

See, that’s what I did prior, and after it took either about a week or a little over one- I forget- the CS response told me to rather than use THAT avenue, use the right-click report, so that it has all details automatically paired with the character I am reporting as well as bumping the ticket up bounds in response time.

That said, the actual options to report a player with when right-clicking them don’t really fit what I am reporting them for.

GMs will always tell you to right click report so it helps ‘log’ all the text to the report. I think they do that with ANY ticket even if it’s something that actually needs a ticket(like ongoing harassment, bypassing ignores.) Offensive language should cover that, and of course the link Orlyia provides shows you an additional measure on top of that as well as reporting from TRP3.

Did you read Orylia’s post? she provided a direct link.

I see.

Yeah, when I click the Report link from TRP3, it gives me the link Orlyia did.

FWIW, that link is where the addon’s report button takes you.

OP is saying a GM told them to avoid it.

Yes, I did.

I do the same, and get told the same every time I report a bad profile. TRP has their buttons to click, but you can also report via the link Orlyia posted or the TRP buttons. Not all GMs are WoW-specific, or may not be aware of the add-on having a built-in report system. They can answer tickets for all Blizzard games, both for the NA and EU, depending on the time of day.

Ticket response times may be a bit slower, but do not let that keep you from reporting troublesome profiles.

Please do keep reporting! As recently shown, it does actually work.

Gods only know we’ve gotten away with so much over the years.

They always do, and I totally do get it when ticket times have been so bad, but I’ve kept using the TRP report button because it logs the lot of it.

This was the response I got from a few weeks ago, and they’re usually to a similar tune.

I was trying to crop and paste my own email that states exactly that same thing. I was told the same words as you, so I’m still wondering which category I use to report such players with.

Keep using the addon report link. That’s what it’s there for, and what the report category is for.

A clear answer would be nice, I would imagine reporting for language would attach chat logs but a blue would need to confirm if it also attaches all addon text, because I haven’t seen a blue post state that if it does or not. It’s entirely possible it does, and it takes cached versions of peoples old RP profiles too given recent events even if the worst thing in them is ‘dark themes’ like murder/investigation plots.

Could be an issue of a GM misunderstanding things and using templates to close out as many tickets as possible to get queues down, always hard to say.

I agree. I would like a clear answer, too, but for now, I’ll resign myself to the upfront 20+ day tickets and hope they tick down quicker than what they may state.

@ Leilleath: funny story- spooky one, too- we both had the same GM respond to us in the same way.

Very unwise to try and troll the most heavily moderated forum there is.
