Except you don’t. There are multiple different ways to get enough points to pass the layer, and you don’t have to get every bonus to get enough. I routinely take multiple of the same power, take epic powers, and don’t make time, and still haven’t gotten anything less than 4 gems just via completion at 99-100% and other bonuses (like killing the boss quickly).

Daredevil - 10 (super easy to kill 2 elites within 10 seconds of each other, I suggest using the tower guys that give you that debuff, they do nothing to you)
Pillager - 10
Plunderer - 5
Rescuer - 10
Robber - 5
Saviour - 10
That’s 140 points alone, without any real weird things.

Pff. Have you heard of the An’Quiraj trinket that was used in the World First Lich King?
The timer seems like the least important part of your score. As long as you aren’t going AFK for a long time you can easily get 4 stars.
Is there even assassins anymore?
honestly i have no clue. but even when there were, it wasn’t true that you couldn’t afk at all.
This is probably late to the party, but you absolutely can get ZERO points for the time element of the score and still make a 4 or 5 star run. It does require you to lookup stuff on wowhead and that sucks, but the information is out there (just not in game, so bad on Blizz). However, given that this info is pasted in the 4-star thread and on wowhead, if you choose to ignore it even though you say you want a 4-star run, then that’s on you. Again, sucks that it’s not explained in-game, but use the resources available to you to get what you want/need.
I honestly have no idea how the score is determined, really. Like if I’m not capable of just speed clearing everything, what should I focus on? lol

Devs making content with WoWhead in mind, so they can cut costs on making it
Always empower when there is a lot of things around to do, it basically counts everything from freeing souls, to killing, to breaking urns.

empower increase score you get, you should use it as much as you can, preferably on killing big packs and elites in one massive aoe
Because you don’t want 4 stars. You want 5.
Break all of the jars, kill all of the mobs, save all of the souls, et cetera and do it within par time. 100% floor completion as fast as possible. Yes, you can do it.
That’s how you get the best score.
I do think that if they’re going to have a timer bonus in the content, they need to actually TELL us IN GAME what the time is that we’re being measured against.
You don’t need to be within par time to get Flawless, just as an FYI.

I’m aware. It just makes it easier to get if you are.
To be honest, I found my enjoyment of the new Torghast increased significantly once I stopped worrying about the timer and just focused on the bonus point objectives. xD Maybe it’s easier to just go for time if you have a full group, though? Though I dunno how group size affects the timer.
One more reason they really should actually put the metric in the game so we can see it, if they’re going to measure us against it.
