After this has come to light, is dispelling world buffs now a bannable offense?
For reference:
A priest on Bigglesworth was banned for 6 months on 4 accounts all from the same IP for dispelling a streamer (griefing).
The streamer was streaming, complaining about getting dispelled - saying that he was specifically targeted. A GM in his chat asked for the info and banned the priest about 5 minutes later.
Is this something that is bannable?
Edit: It appears the streamer ASKED the GM for the ban, then gifted the GM a sub for it.
Edit2: For those asking for timestamps: 3:19:30 for the dispell, 3:20:30 for the streamer asking for a ban
Edit3: The Priest has now been unbanned.
Just be a streamer and you’ll be able to get people banned at will for doing something that tons of people have done for the past 6+ months I guess.
Solid work here Blizzard. Very impressed. A real example of “my friend is a GM and I’ll get him to ban you”. Can’t say I’ve ever seen that happen on an official server for any big game before.
Regardless of how you feel about dispelling, this is a bad look. Some action needs to be taken and a statement regarding the status of dispelling needs to be made.
People were saying the guy is sitting there dispelling all the time. How was he specifically targeted? I don’t like the dispel meta myself but this is a very bad look for a company. This is actual nepotism.
1st time post on a level 19 so i’m just going to assume a troll but this whole concept boggles my mind so much the quote literally came into my head.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.
I realize this is a game and nothing at all to the level of seriousness that the quote represents but the issue with accepting blatant nepotism is that you might like it when it happens to someone else unjustly but accepting these actions and even glorying in them just means that you can expect more of it and next time it might be you.
yeah no, the guy who got banned literally just spends all week dispelling players, he has a mental problem and if anything getting banned will be healthy for him
i think it’s completely justified especially considering our server discord ended up getting deleted because he and his band of goons are notorious racists who’s favorite word starts with N
So hes a terrible person who does terrible things. You seriously want to get banned yourself for something that has never been against the rules with no warnings on all of your accounts? Just cause?
