Faction Imbalance on PVP servers - Solutions

To help resolve the faction imbalance, I have some ideas.

  1. Don’t allow cross server battle ground queues right away until the balance is more scaled out. Let it be server only. This will entice server transfers to avoid long queue times.
  2. Open up transfers for Alliance from alliance dominated servers. There are a lot of pve alliance dominated servers. Let them have the option to go to a pvp horde dominated server.
  3. Continue to allow transfers off of greatly horde dominated servers to alliance dominated servers.
  4. Create an additional layer on imbalanced servers for the dominating side. On this layer, there will be no world bosses. When the original layer has more then a 60:40 ratio in favor of the dominating faction, the rest who log in are put in a queue and can only play on the layer with their own faction until the balance is more even.
  5. Allow faction character changes from the dominating side to the less populated side. (Im not sure if a shaman would change into a paladin though, lol)

You have gnomes, dwarves and paladins. It’s not as bad as you think. Paladins are amazing in world pvp. They take a long time to kill, as a healer. I think its pretty huge .

your racials are OP in pvp nothing will change the imbalance

And you don’t think stoneform and fear ward also isn’t OP? :stuck_out_tongue: Dwarf priest complaining here about racials !

I’ve heard alot of horde complain about it , they just don’t come to the forums like you :stuck_out_tongue:

It might be better to offer faction changes.

People get to keep their names. Guilds/friends can talk to each other and faction change together.

If PvP realms just have more Horde players overall, transferring around won’t help as much as encouraging players to faction change.

(Of course, they can offer both options.

Yes, the faction change system would need to be augmented to handle faction changing all your toons on a PvP server at the same time.)

That’s also a great idea ! I will edit my post to add that =)

I dont think anyone in their right mind would transfer from a pve to a pvp. We knew exactly what was going to happen and the type of people pvp servers attract. No thanks.

Shift factions around based on population. If server A is 80/20 and server B is 30/70 Horde vs Alliance, then swap A & B Alliance and add in layering on the higher end servers. As population will normalizes after people drop from no longer being on the dominate faction on a lopsided server.

Allow free transfers from PVE to PVP servers for under populated factions.

E: Another minor solution would be to have NPC/Guards gradually scale every time they are killed.

6th option : Realize that this is a player created solution to the fact that their playstyle does not support playing on a PvP server. Players want imbalanced PvP server (based on action not what is posted whining on the forums) and Blizzard should not stand in their way of having that.
PvP happening on a PvP server is what people signed up for.

Based on complaints, this is not the type of wPvP that some players were hoping for when they rolled on PvP realms.

Of course, but hope and reality are two different things. Facts are that this is the PvP server experience since the dawn of WoW where one faction dominates the server and the other is just sheep to the slaughter . This is what they signed up for.

I don’t think most signed up for the scale in which it appears to be happening. Which Blizzard did facilitate by drastically increasing server caps and adding layers(then removing said layering) in a game that isn’t designed to scale.

Are you saying there are zero PvP realms with more balanced wPvP experiences right now?

Oh I’m sure they exist, but historically the servers even if balanced will tip to one side or the other over time (and via transfers).
I’m basing this strictly on the thousands upon thousands of threads complaining about this exact same thing since I started posting on the forums in 2006.

Well, players were hoping to experience more balanced wPvP before the servers tipped to one side or the other over time.

The game has only been out for 2.5 months and some PvP realms have already collapsed on one side.

Oh it’s sped up greatly here in Classic due to the quick server transfers being allowed, The server transfers showed that in Classic it is the same as was (pre warmode) in retail that players do not want balanced servers as even if it was balanced the free transfers made it imbalanced quickly.

Furthermore, Vanilla players had 136 days to reach max level before the honor system was added.

Classic players only had 80 days.

There would probably be fewer complaints if casual players had gotten more time to hit level 60 and fight on a more even playing field.

This drastically accelerated schedule caters to streamers and other players who can spend a lot of time in the game.

Yes the accelerated time table with Classic is causing things to happen much quicker than they did back in the day, but the ‘issues’ being complained about should have been expected by anyone that has played this game in the past 15 yrs.
