In Vanilla and early expansions, I have fond memories of combing through instance loot lists and determining a personal BiS list for my class/spec. The M+ nerf is good and raiding should always offer the best gear

The M+ ilvl nerf is a good thing. I’ve raided on and off since vanilla and the times I wasn’t raiding, I had accepted the fact I wasn’t going to have the best gear. The players are entitled today, thinking they deserve the best stuff with minimal effort. Raiding has always been and should always be the route for the best gear. It requires more than just being good, but a commitment to a team. The M+ gear is still very competitive with raiding gear, but no longer the best for min/max players. …

M+ gear broke gearing and time between patches

M+ as mechanics are good for game, it gave dungeons longevity and way to get gear for those who dislike raiding But it really overdid it by a large margin. Too many limitations are bad, to not having them at all (especially when getting gear is main goal of endgame) is even worse. There’s no limit on m+, you can farm it all day and get raid level gear.
