Ban Culture of 2024/2025

Haha fair point!

It USED to and honestly still should. Sadly that tool is currently broken. Vrak’s last post last night actually went into a lot of detail about the borked quoting system. They would love to have it working again, because it really helps folks see what they did.

I think that it is misleading to call it a Ban Culture when that does not exist. The process is mechanical, not social. And, frankly, I don’t see any of it at all. The only time I bump against any topic of a ban, it is in the forums with topics like this, making something sound so much larger than it is.

How can you have racism in a game?
as far as i am concerned you could be a bot or Ai
personally i’m here to play a “Game” to get out of the clown world of today…
remember folks…“its a GAME”

Watch this, all replies to miss "MVP"and we’ll get banned just wait!

Huh didn’t know that. Hopefully it gets updated. I admit it is frustrating beyond believe to see an action then be shown absolutely nothing breaking any rules. ( early solo queue days people stopped tlakig because ragers would just report EVERYTHING to " get back" at people for the audacity of not winning with them)

That said… its gotten better. I think they refined the system or at least put solo queue reports as a lower priority.

I don’t like it…but its better then it was.

Was this the same one who told people not to play any form of rated content because there’s always the possibility of a power outage? They all blend together for me and I can’t tell them apart.

Easier to justify than reflect, I guess. Or maybe framing it as laziness helps me understand it better.

It was mostly a joke, though I do wish people would consider what they say a bit more closely. Pretty sure my dad would tell me to stop wasting my time here if I read him any of my posts. :joy:

Nope whatever that is. I’m very casual!

Extreme racism would have to be defined as your race is above other races as well as your religion and nobody is supposed to talk bad about your religion and even your other books say other races are equal to dogs and cows thus the reason to continue to war because your race is the best for all eternity.

Yes!
If your above ideology is the same then maybe you should not play World of Warcraft.
Or have access to Warcraft forums to leave messages.

I would like to ban these tuesday server downtimes. If I was in charge it would be done overnight and certainly not the day before christmas.

Going to be doing it before New Years too

No worries. I found it. It was a thread about A52 going offline out of nowhere and causing people to lose 200 rating in PvP, and within a few posts they basically said not to play the game if there’s any possibility of things happening @_@

doubling down on this i see.

i would double maybe even octopule it. everytime someone complains add another hour.

Pretty fun to see how fervently people will defend racism, amongst other things, and think they’re the good guy

No it doesn’t help the community.

The forums are getting better, I think. They probably used to be a lot worse. But, you still see the same concern trolls complaining about “trolls”, and mass flagging posts. This is more on Blizzard than the concern trolls that have developmental issues.

We can compare the forums to in game chat, Retail or Classic, and the chat in both Retail and Classic is far healthier, far more diverse, far happier and more active… Blizzard in their attempts to create a fair forums, just made a mess of things.

Again, the forums are probably better than they were, but the foundations for terrible forums still exist and some of the people that ruined them in the past are still on the forums.

Bring back some sort of downvote and punish people who abuse the flag system. Forums will instantly be a better more welcoming place. In game, I don’t see people getting flagged or banned and people talk about the craziest things… no one cares.

To the people saying “yeah but racism!”, racist posts are so incredibly rare that it’s not a realistic justification alone to warrant the current flag-for-friendlier-forums mode of governance.

In terms of the grand scheme of things, LFR as a singular difficulty ain’t it for me.

I wish it had more difficulties. Same with Dungeon Finder and adding difficulties to that. With MMR and Proving Grounds requirements. Ya know, similar to the treatment PVP got with Battleground Blitz and Solo Shuffle.

I know everyone will have their opinion but I think the forums from vanilla to LK were the best. Real trolls were banned, a lot more friendly banter, and less shady things going on.

I don’t like downvotes myself. People will still coordinate to mass downvote people like they did before. Many correct posts hidden from this. On the flip side, many incorrect posts upvoted or hearted to project the illusion of truth.

But I do absolutely agree with punishing those who abuse the flag or report feature. It’s meant to help get rid of bad posts, not someone who disagreed with you.

that is true, but blizzard makes the rules and can lie and say that doesnt happen kinda like they hid things in company trying to save face. never trust a cooperation they dont care about the customers everyone who isnt a shill would know this. moment they get reality check they understand that can take years.
