People are definitely overreacting but they’re right that 1.12 AV was the culmination of many nerfs.

When I and my wife heard that Blizzard will release Classic, we both first and most excited about AV, which we most enjoyed in the whole game. You sounded like ActiBlizz developers or CM who thinks anyone who plays wow is interested or likes raiding. No, some of us have different preferences than raiding against a scripted predictable boss fights.

I made all my friends in AV and lost all my friends while we started raiding. This is a personal opinion but I believe raiding makes more harm than good to wow at least to the communities in the long run.

I really hope ActiBlizz will reconsider their decision against 1.12 AV and makes some rearrangements to satisfy who prefers older version of AV.

Overreacting, as per usual. Don’t fret over it.

You mean do pserver levels of tampering? No thanks.

Authenticity > custom AV in Classic

I believe I worded my sentence poorly, sorry English is not my native language. With rearrangement I meant earlier version of AV, not some custom, random things you referred to. I am neither a developer nor play on pservers.

Doesn’t like scripted fights against NPC’s, wants the version of AV the was primarily about scripted NPC’s…

They likely don’t even have the earlier AV anymore due to how poorly they handled patches prior to TBC. Data that got changed was directly overwritten and not archived.

I hope the CMs have a way to filter out posts of those who never played vanilla.

Dude… at this point, is it really even worth it? You don’t like me. I get it. Get over yourself and move on.

I don’t care that much either way, but to be fair, the poll results are kind of meaningless. The options on the strawpoll don’t make sense for one. Plus we don’t know where it was advertised. Like the Classic forums, you’re going to get a small, really hardcore subset of the people that will be playing classic responding. Their opinions are really important, but it isn’t really the best indicator.

I loved vanilla, and yes I pvp’d a lot. I had over 50000 kills across my characters in vanilla and had both a horde and an ally at rank 8 (and I wasn’t a psycho about it).

But what most people missed about WoW was the community. Pvp was certainly part of that, but pvp is still going to be there. Look, I would prefer that we get the OG AV too, but all this hand wringing about it isn’t helpful. Not only because it isn’t happening, but because it can’t happen. And even if, by some unholy miracle, Blizz could put it in, it would be gone in a few months anyway as vanilla/classic progressed.

It is a much better indicator than individual “feels”. Are you suggesting that those wanting 1.12 were magically not available to take those polls? They were advertised on youtube, warcraft forums, reddit. Are fans of 1.12 not viewing those platforms? What part doesn’t make sense? It is a simple choice of version spans.

Over 70% of respondents favor patches 1.5 through 1.7.

Majority of people excited for Classic are just happy it’s happening. They don’t really care which version of AV makes the cut.

I doubt very much there are many people that “wanted” 1.12, but I’m guessing most people are willing to deal with it to get classic.

Pretty much what I meant, yeah.

You are basing that on what exactly? The majority who did not actually play during vanilla and know no better?

No, I’m basing it by what I’ve observed in every Classic enthusiast community I’m a part of. As far as I can tell, it’s only a very vocal handful of people whinging about 1.12 AV like it’s some travesty to mankind.

Because people weren’t pining for old AV for the last 4+ years. They were asking for vanilla.

Its just not really an indicator of anything except how people are “feeling” in the echo chambers of the most hardcore Classic community. I’m not trying to argue with you - just statistically it doesn’t make sense. There are reasons you don’t do a study with an online poll. People participating in those forums, youtube, reddit aren’t the majority of the people that will play Classic - fortunately there will be lots more.

Plus like I said, the options don’t make sense anyway. Where does it say 1.12? It says 1.1-final which I assume meant to be 1.12 final, but it says 1.1 which might have misled people who read it quickly.

And up pops the little wall of no once again.
