1.12 AV is a huge, huge mistake

It would be nice though if Blizzard came forward and clarified some things about that post and tried to reconcile it with the information from BlizzCon. DO they have the data for it? DON’T they? We should be asking them that first before we start asking for it. Just a thought.

Did we have to ask them if they had vanilla data prior to beginning to ask for vanilla back over 10 years ago when we began this journey?

Blizzard created the content we are speaking about. It was not handed down on a couple slabs of rocks to a Moses-type on a mountain. Actual Blizzard employees thought it up, made notes, had meetings, had more meetings, and carefully constructed it, tested it, and released it.

This is not the mystery of Atlantis or how the heck the pyramids were built. It is not the meaning of Stonehenge, nor finding out what actually happened in area 51. It is not something that cannot be recreated as close as orcishly possible.

Blizzard can’t offer anything pre-1.12 because they barely have anything pre-1.12.

I did, actually. I believe if there was any more data to find, they would have spent the time looking for it rather than settling on 1.12.

It was also explained at BlizzCon that 1.12 was about the earliest data they had access to.

They literally directly overwrote patch data without archiving what they overwrote prior to TBC. They explained this during the BlizzCon panel.

They can’t restore it if they don’t have the data for it.

The patch process prior to TBC was extremely poor. Any changes got directly overwritten and weren’t archived at all.

Again, I doubt this was honestly a choice Blizzard even had. They might have wanted to give us 1.5 AV but found themselves unable to because the data for it is likely gone.

Remember, prior to TBC patches that changed something directly, overwrote the previous data. None of it got archived.

They likely don’t even have the earlier AV anymore due to how poorly they handled patches prior to TBC. Data that got changed was directly overwritten and not archived.

For all we know, they wanted to do 1.5 AV but couldn’t because the data got overwritten during the patch process,

Imagine all of those posts, but rather than attempting to throw shade on people, you actually discussed the great things about the early versions.

There’s not much to discuss, the differences are well known. Some people prefer the PvE centric 1.5 version of AV and some people prefer the PvP centric 1.12 version.
