Is the AV we’re getting according to the blue post really that bad in comparison to the older version? Or are people overreacting?
I’d say both depending on your point of view.
Yea, people are overreacting a bit. It’s nothing like the modern version. You could still have very long games.
It depends on how you view it.
Do you want an AV that can last a week with no resolution and potentially even more biased towards alliance
or
Do you want an AV that has a slightly more balance and can be finished in under an hour.
The former just sounds tedious to me xD
Can, but can also last a week with no resolution if both teams so chose.
Well true but how many times will both teams have players cycle in and out that actually want that.
About as many that cycle in and out in 1.5 that want an AV that lasts a week.
No one nowadays is gonna have time for that lol as awesome as it sounds.
It’s not so much that one is better or worse, they play very different and different people like different versions. The original AV was mostly a pve experience whereas 1.11/1.12 is more about pvp.
But yeah the people threatening to quit or not play over AV are over reacting.
The concern is that 1.12 AV will turn into a race where the teams ignore pvp and rush past each other. The people grinding for honor will prefer this. You get in - get your honor and reque.
The casual players that want to beat each other up and mess around and get lost in the battle would likely have more fun in the earlier versions.
The other BGs are great - so even if AV is a shell of itself, you can still get your pvp fix.
They say there are alot of them (the folks that want older AV) so they should have no problem turtling in 1.12 or 1.5 or w/e version of AV we get.
Just ignore the people typing ‘WTH are you doing, PUSH TO THE END…wait…STOP TRINKETING BACK TO BASE…man…WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO, FORCE A TURTLE?’
Real easy to get a turtle goin’.
The funny thing is, they want to win quickly so they all zerg, well the team that puts 10 people on defense when the other team has 0 on defense will win because you don’t need the whole team to kill Van/Drek.
Right. Couple of mages, couple of rogues…a boom chicken thing or two. Easy defense!
Let me put it like this.
Remember all those AV stories?
People summoning the elemental lords, the super long all out war where everything mattered, potentially joining back to the same AV, etc.
All gone, rushing becomes the prevalent strat.
Now I don’t think the week long thing is that good either, however, in just following that 1.12 av you lose pretty much everything that made classic av, classic av.
If push comes to shove, I think it’s probably the one thing where there should be some kind of compromise.
Reducing the usual time to maybe 6ish hours-a day or so makes AV more manageable but also still captures the essence of it, all the things that make AV are still there, just nowhere near as long, and people can’t just rush and end it super quickly.
Are y’all trying to summon idiots? Because this is how we summon idiots.
/s
But to answer the question, both can be played in similer ways but one version just makes whatever kind of AV you want, longer. But honestly there isn’t that much difference.
I think alot of this depends on whether we have cross realm BGs. If you have to play with the same guys for months a time, it is harder to be that guy.
Also, harder to turtle 1.12 - going to need more help.
I mean… it may be ‘harder’ buts it’s for sure not hard by any means. You can wipe a raid at galv with like 5 people.
LoL you never were required to play the entire BG to the end LoL
Early AV had options beyond zerg vs turtle. That is what made it great.
