People still play on EU. I’m on a discord server with a a couple of dozens of peoiple. They didn’t have this kind of issue. It seems like it’s related to accounts that haven’t been in use for some time. In my case it’s been 2 months.
So additionally it would behoove you to also read the exchange fully, rather than moving the goalpost. My offline comment was a reply to one person claiming there is no offline mode, thats it. Others, mainly you now, turned it into a side conversation. And what? You can play the campaign in offline mode, progress and all. Instead of doing any research, even trying offline to see for yourself, youre trying to refute me somehow. Problem is you cant refute anyone with made up facts.
This has happened in the past to all three regions, a few times even. Each time it’s been remedied.
It’s more a result of SC2 being retired (for 4 and half years now). It has a low priority to the other actively developed games. So, when it has issues, the response is kind of slow. But so far, all major issues have been addressed as they pop up.
You can. To play offline:
- Disable your network connection. This can be done by disabling your network adapter in the OS settings, or by simply unplugging your network anywhere between the system and the wall.
- Launch SC2. When it detects there’s no network, it will give the screen with the offline option (the pic Beast linked).
- Click Play Offline. The game will open with all modes that require a network disabled.
Once launched, the network can be reenabled/reconnected.
it works with a different account played recently, and a different account haven’t played lately. my partner could login in her account but not mine on her PC either.
If i may ask, around how long did it take to get resolved before please ?
Just roughly estimating (because haven’t paid close attention to the previous ones), it seems to be about a week.
any idea of the reason for the problem, and if the solution will be permanent?
Update:
Support has informed me that the problem is now known. In the past, a problem like this could be solved in less than 24 hours. I have also been informed that the problem lies with Blizzard itself.
So I can’t see that Starcraft 2 is no longer a priority for Blizzard.
Just to put the number of inquiries up. I have the same problem. Old sc2 acc, been off for quite some time now. Cant log in on eu server, but on us and kr. A fix would be much appreciate
I just tried again now and it works fine for me! Thank you very much Blizz!
gee what gave you that idea jelis, is it the fact sc2 has been retired from development since 2019, or maybe its the fact that blizzard stopped balanceing the game until enough community outrage hit and they created the " balance council" which is entirely made up of pros, who are all now bickering for the race specific changes to be implemented creating what has been essentially the three worst balance patchs in sc2 history. Let alone the last patch they put out being a complete garbage dump when it was put out cause some one screwed up and released a version that wasnt suppose to go live, then when it was suppose to get fixed they did it again, with out the actually getting fixed right, to finally releasing it a third time which still wasnt even right.
oh wait thats right you just dont play the game at all and dont know all this.
“oh wait thats right you just dont play the game at all and dont know all this.”
And where exactly did you get this insight from, and to what extent does this make my statement ‘more important’ or ‘less important’? Are hours of play or virtual ranks necessary for something like this?
Furthermore, you haven’t quite understood the thread. This is about technical issues, not gameplay. And since there is a quick response, I maintain that SC2 is still a priority for Blizzard - and that (which is also the point here) with technical issues.
Update:
By the way, the problem has been solved. You can log in to EU again. I guess I was right after all - and without 2000 hours of play, how can this be?
I can confirm. Nice, much appreciated
Indeed seems like someone pulled a magical leaver
Works on my end too. Thanks!
I’m no game developer, but trust me, if i made a game, it would automatically go to the main screen with a message saying that i’m in offline mode.
To actively have to disable your connection to have “play offline” box show up… dumbest setup ever!
Not all of us are super nerds with the time to search the whole wide web for solutions that should have been thought of from the beginning. Really just want to open the game up and play without any complications, especially a single player game!
cause your here in this thread in the first place, duh, this only happens to new accounts and accounts that havent played in a long time. not to mention the fact that sc2 has been retired since 2019, which you dont seem to know. and no one is talking ranks or hours played, where did you even get that from. this is a bug that happens every now and then, its been happening pretty regularly for the past year, and again it only affects new accounts and accounts that have been inactive. on top of that it usually happens on the weekends and holidays when people just arnt in the office but as soon as they come back to work it usually gets fixed. what you dont understand is the state of the game, its retired tech support has basically been null for most problems that dont break the game, but things like this will always get fixed fast usually by the first business day after it happens, sometimes second, because again its a game breaking bug.
Not that it’s relevant: But it’s true, I haven’t played SC 2 since 2020. I’ve played a few matches now and also read a bit in forums, so from my point of view you’re making the issue look worse than it actually is.
But that has nothing to do with the topic itself.
In my opinion, the thread can be closed anyway as the servers (EU) are stable again.
Have a good time in whatever game you’re playing
the topic temporary outage in eu, and im telling you its a bug that only affects new accounts and accounts that havent played in awhile and when it will be fixed, how its usually fixed and who it affects, and how regullary its been happening. so yes, you not playing in awhile is totally on topic.
just to clarify a bit more, us normies who play daily or even weekly arent affected by it, we can still log in and play just fine.
No, its not intuitive, by design. It’s not a mode that the game is intended to be played in. Its a legacy thing that the devs ledt behind for people when SC2 transitioned to fully online. And searching the “whole” internet is only for the super nerds? Believe it or not, even you lay people can use google easily, try it sometime.
No complications is not realistic, you wont find that anywhere, any game, any developer. Low incedence of complications, stick to non retired games. If you choose to play a retired game, youre also choosing to tolerate the likely increase in complications, but that’s all on you the player.
have to tried talking to the guard in white run?
