Do this and suddenly Zerg can no longer autopilot for the first 4 minutes of every game. Suddenly blindly massing Queens is stupid and punishable. Suddenly Zerg has to build early fighting units to defend like any other race in the game. Suddenly Zerg has to randomize build orders like any other race rather than repeating the same boring opening every ****ing time.
Honestly i won’t even mind if this came together with (substantial!) buffs across the board to other units and/or mechanics not involving the queens if these are needed to balance the game. But just this one thing would make the ZvX matchups so much more strategic, so much more interesting, so much more starcraft. I wish this would be done, but my expectations are pretty low by now.
Agreed. That’s why I said “buffs across the board”. Any unit with as much utility as the queen should have effective counters. Instead the Queen is one if not the most well rounded units in the game.
Perhaps lowering their Armor and HP would do the trick. Anything that would force Zerg to have some build order variation other than what we see now would be welcome.
Fine. Make hydra hatch tech, but gate their huge dps behind a hive upgrade (could let them start with 2/3 of their attack speed and give them an upgrade for the full attack speed). Do this and we got a deal.
If the balance will suffer we can fix it with little tweaks ala cockless balance team. At least this huge design flaw would be gone.
And you read me completely wrong. I actually don’t care so much about winrates and my favourite matchup to watch is probably ZvZ. My only bias is against boring a** play.
Is it just me or the quality of the Zerg apologists on this forum is severely deteriorating? At least batZ has arguments and I respect him for that. Whether or not they are logically sound and/or I agree with them is something else. Seems like the standard now is to just respond with weak and meaningless insults.
And, what exactly would be the difference between this and the queen? Giving zerg a gimped anti-air that only works while defending is exactly how it is already.
The difference would be that early game defense and macro/creep are now separated again how they should be. The ratio of queens/units in the early game becomes something delicate and important. Many Queens = greedy, weak defense, fast creep spread + investment in eco advantage. Few Queens = safe, strong defense, slow creep spread + investment in early aggressive tools. Suddenly we have an RTS on our hands.
not sure what game you guys are playing but I think it’s pretty broken when zerg can rush to 3 base and be greedy and barely get punished for it brcause they can just queue up 30 lings and defend with queens. pls give other races a 150 mineral spellcaster with lots of health and abilities T1
Yes Queen have been an issue since the 8 AtA range buff. Somethings definitely needs to be done about them. Zerg should be supposed to make actual units to defend and not Mass Queens.
funny thing is, what you described there is the perfect description for the whiners…
just look at this thread
or this thread
and now tell me, that especially these two guys have somewhat usefull arguments in their “discussion”.
in both cases, each of them starting to insult everyone, who doesnt agree with them. would you really say, that these two are the “mature” and “argument based” characters in their discussion?
or here, another gem:
so each of these three is a prime example, why your claim isnt true at all.
@Dalai… Hilarious. The truth is you just didn’t read these threads and you just want to protect your already extremely imbalance race. All of these threads you linked there are very long, constructive and explains everything unlike typical zerg whiners threads like “hey ho hey ho battlecruiser tactical jump has to go” (end of thread)… and somehow blizzard listen to these zerg guys which is even more hilarious - they even nerfed the tactical jump
You’d need to pay for the hydras of course, and their building, and their basic upgrades, and spend larvae.
Right now the queen is something you already build/need, it just happens to do everything as well, and making more of them is never a waste. It’s effectively free defense built into your macro mechanic
did you mention anything about inject spam? That, for me at least, is what I find to be one of the biggest problems. One smurfing guy was telling me the other day in game “oh I only use two hotkeys” because I said he had the “A-move” race.
You do realize that that is a buff, right? I would love that my queens could stay next to hatcheries and not have to run around and miss injects. I would love that queens didn’t die and miss injects. That would be amazing!
Once again, you are whining about a zerg weakness like it’s OP - pathetic!
