Attempting to Reconnect - Defeat

Twice today in games where I’m way ahead and there was zero lag I suddenly get “Attempting to Reconnect” window with the only option being “Surrender”.

  • Ping never exceeds 30ms
  • Music streaming never even stutters
  • Web pages loading fine
  • Zero indication of any internet issues anywhere

Yet I’m eventually “Dropped” (Defeat) and kicked out to the menus where I’m still online and logged in. WTF is happening here?

This is reminiscent of Brood Wars BNET drop hack. When I say “I’m way ahead” , I’m talking about more than doubling opponent’s score so it’s very suspicious.

/Edit: Make that 3 times…

Just happened , AGAIN , and I was in a custom game BY MYSELF without even an AI … still had to close out … please help?

Okay 5 times in a single day, never used to happen - THIS IS SUPER FUN YOU GUYS

Just experienced the same error, 2 games in CO-OP, 2 crashes.

3 posts were split to a new topic: Franzji - Attempting to reconnect

I played a co-op mission, my partner left, so I paused and locked my computer to do other things really fast. I come back, with internet mind you, and it’ll say ‘Attempting to recenect’ with the only option to surrender. I logged back into the battle.net app, disconect and recennected my wi-fi, but no sigar, I have to surrender. What happened to the ‘offline mode’ back in the old days, where you can choose to go offline if, for whatever reason, says it can’t connect, also, can you earn XP for co-op missions if your partner left?

Okay fix your servers, it’s 100% an issue on your side, problem disappeared for 17 days and has now resurfaced, my connection never drops but I get this stupid fake attempting to reconnect box with surrender being the only option.

I’ve had the same problem for months now. Not every game, but about 1/3. I get the "attempting to reconnect message at about the 5:05-6:00 time. Internet is working fine, don’t know what the problem is.

Once again today this problem has mysteriously resurfaced. Three games in a row so far. NO changes to my configuration, NO actual disconnects, this is ONLY SC2 GAME client, I’m even still logged into account in chat when hitting surrender -_-.

And again this situation resurfaces, ZERO change to my configuration, NEVER drop connection, music streaming etc never interrupts ONLY BNET decides it’s time for me to lose a game and disconnects me from the current game but NOT from bnet or chat this is so annoying please stop this.

Is this a known issue ? Are there steps I can take ? Is this just a sporadic server issue where it decides to zero in on one ip range and hate it ? I don’t believe others are being dropped so frequently so suddenly. But here I am with completely stable internet except that I can’t get further than about 7 minutes into a game against an ai without abruptly being dropped with no option but surrender … Offline mode how?

Just happened again 58 seconds into a placement match, oh joy. Music streaming service no issues, browser game in background no issues, starcraft which generally has no issues in 4v4 games to max supply just instant “(NOT)Attempting to Reconnect [Surrender]” … is there any “support” to be found in the technical support forums or are we all just laughing at my misfortune here?

To be clear, this issue only seems to surface in week+ intervals, but when it happens it happens OVER AND OVER, I haven’t been able to maintain a 1v1 game (or custom alone vs ai for that matter) for two days, all drop randomly within 1 - 7 minutes. NO lag, just instant disconnect with erroneous message.

Hey there,

Due to the way this issue goes away for weeks and then returns suddenly without you changing anything on your end, this sounds like an issue at the ISP level or between your ISP and the Starcraft 2 servers.

If you’d like you can submit a ticket to send in your system files and I’d recommend attaching a WinMTR as well.

Since this issue has been off and on for so long we can take a look to see if we can identify where the disconnect is happening.

Thank you so much @Jambrix for the reply. It seems like the hiccup has finally gone away again (for now) but when it inevitably resurfaces now I know what to do! Thanks again.
