PTR 1.40 patchnotes

A new Overwatch patch is in development and now available for testing! To share your feedback or report any issues, please post in the PTR Feedback or PTR Bug Report forums.

Please note that the below patch notes only include changes currently available for testing on the PTR. While many of these changes may also be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in a future patch, the PTR is PC-only and only reflects changes coming specifically to that platform.

The PTR and Live Overwatch PC clients can now share storage when installed to the same file path on disk. This should reduce the disk space required to install and update multiple clients. As a result, today’s PTR client should require only ~1.2GB of additional disk storage. Players with previous Overwatch PTR clients installed can uninstall and reinstall to a common disk location to benefit from this feature.

Note: Overwatch League Replay Viewer also supports shared installation with the PTR and Live clients.

I would like to point out that Shared Install sound like is only the technical files for the game clients, this does NOT mean your collected items, progress, etc is shared (that is account/cloud-based level data).

So… Beam nerfs and Cigar nerfs? I said I would quit if they nerfed Cigar, but honestly, those are pretty minor.

Zarya needed it
Sym didn’t

Wow, I can’t believe they actually nerfed Symmetra’s primary fire lol. Were people really struggling against it that much?

Didn’t… Didn’t they have to widen the beam to that after the rework originally went live?

Symmetra nerfed? That’s pathetic and Sigma was basically fine.

That Sym nerf is… really dumb lmao. Sorry for not putting that in a nicer way, but it’s just sad it was even considered by someone.

So they nerfed sym, but they couldn’t fix her tp? Ok

As someone who advocated for Live integrated PTR a while ago, I’m glad they did this install share. It’s a step in the right direction. Maybe someday PTR will be an Arcade mode too.

Now I have no excuse to not keep the PTR on my PC

They’ll never let Symmetra be viable :((

Wow a sym nerf. Blizzard really does hate that hero

I would give anything for this to be:

  • Fixed a bug that allowed Paris to be in rotation.

So hitting both in a burst does 55 damage now? Better add Zen orb to the list of things that denies a Sigma two-shot.

sigh of relief

Finally, in these past couple updates it seems like they’re adding more community-requested content :D. Dummy bot is huge and so is “Create Beam Effect”

My Queen lives on. Mei is Bae.

No Bastion buff ?
Just beam re-balance because of the bug fixe buff ?

Symmetra should get a passive for her primary fire if this goes through.
If she’s at level 3, her reload is 90% faster. Boom, done.

But sleep dart still sleeps the mech.

This affects literally no one since at least 2 people leave every time the game rolls Paris.
