Yes? Iâm surprised youâd even ask me that question.
And with that quote, every single thing they said was true, except for her not being a support, as she still is to a degree. She is more interesting and flexible in a variety of team comps, or rather, could be. The TPs untapped potential comes into play with that. There could be very powerful strategies with dive comps and TP, but nobody utilizes them. Sheâs stronger on both attack and defense, most notably KOTH.
Pretty much every other dps can have an impact without using a shield or being apron stringed to tanks and healers (who actually have to want to help Sym, whose unpopularity makes that a rare case - or at least conditioned Syms to not expect help.)
If sheâs targeting a shield, sheâs not hurting ANYONE meanwhile the shield sheâs either targeting is either old and no one is around or there ARE enemies near and they can just shoot her. Reinhardt only needs 3 quick hits to kill Symmetra meanwhile she needs to have burned through his shield, avoid charge, and maintain accuracy for longer than it takes Rein to kill her.
Using long cool down turrets on ONE kill is not only a waste, but if any hero, not just Symmetra, needs to commit their long cool down abilities and resources to get kills SOMETHING IS WRONG with how that character was balanced and they need buffs stat.
The irony is that Sombra would had been perfect for the second non-healer support slot. She only have one damage-dealing ability (her uzi), and everything else is scouting and disrupting. She would be the Support/Offense to Symmetraâs Support/Defense.
But instead, they choose to place her at offense and made people think she would be a different flavor of Tracer, notice she do not deal the same damage as Tracer, and call her useless.
Um, what else are you going to use these resources on, if not something as impactful as kills? And Symmetraâs job is a lot broader than just killing things. Sheâs a utility DPS.
The excuses to throw shade at Symmetra get more and more desperate. This one is so ignorant it hurts. Have you genuinely ever played the Hero?
Plus, there are other abilities that have a slower projectile speed, like Pulse Bomb, Dynamite and Biotic Grenade. But from primary/secondary fire, Junkrat is king, Symmetra is queen.
Still canât believe they nerf Junkratâs projectile size due to complaints because he wasnât a âskill set heroâ in their eyes.
The heroes that can be on support roster is Zarya, Symmetra, Sombra, Mei and possibly 76, but the developers lack that hindsight and refuses to make a healer roster for healers.
The excuses to excuse the piss poor rework as some kind of upgrade from before are getting more trollish and more desperate.
Mccree doesnât need to use Flashbang to get a kill, Dva doesnât need to use rockets to get a kill, Hanzo doesnât need storm arrows, junkrat doesnât need to trap his kills, Soldier doesnât need to use rockets either, the list goes on. Their abilities assist them but they are not necessary for killing offensively or defensively AND they can kill without scraping by on the skin of their teeth. Doomfist and Sombra use their abilities but they are infinitely shorter than Symmetraâs â and thatâs not even going into how their weapons can kill/pack a punch too (Sombra has a gun thatâs often criticized but she not only can melt 200 hp heroes but she has both a reliable escape AND a really fast ult charge rate.)
I have played and actually cared about Symmetra from the beginning, so I have played her longer and have more experience than someone who has to resort to strawman and ad hominem arguments to get their point across.
None of them need the abilities particularly, but they make it easier. And a quick kill is generally what youâre looking for anyway. Sym doesnât need her turrets to kill you either, but theyâre very handy in dealing with things she canât safely get close to like McCree or highly mobile targets like Genji or Doom. All heroes have an easy button, and Syms turrets are some of the better easy buttons, which warrants their vulnerability.
Pretty funny how none of these comparisons consider the fact that symmettra excels at breaking shields because it costs her 0 ammo.
She never has to reload and in a close range shield fight, sheâll have full ammo capacity ready to attack the defenders after shields are broken. At the end of the video they think itâs funny to depict how sym dies quickly but other heroes shown here wouldâve died just as quickly in a similar situation (stand still and shoot).
Sym might not be the best shield breaker but she applies constant high pressure to shields and isnât a light threat. (Pun intended)
Itâs not just Sym the devs have given up hope on.
All Iâm expecting from now on are some skins and cooler new heroes.
Not hoping much for the balance of the heroes already in the game and quite frankly if I was choosing how to balance this game, I wouldnât know what to do either.
Too many players want too many different things, you canât make everyone happy.
From a business standpoint; balancing the base game around playersâ requests isnât bringing in money. So itâs logic that they balance for OWL and not so much for us.
Iâm disappointed too, but itâs far from a new game so Iâve made my peace with this. Every hero is somewhat enjoyable anyway and viable up until mid-ranks.
The majority of the playerbase is in these ranks and itâs understandable they wonât make drastic changes for heroes that are played still at these ranks and are doing well.
Itâs cowardly to not speak with the playerbase and let the game die like this, but itâs logic business-wise, for the moment anyway.
