Naturally they appear, as people get bored with game. But forcefully taking fun away greatly accelerates that process.
And there is third option: player stays on hero, because no other hero gave them fun, but starts to enjoy game by making it miserable for everyone else. It’s hidden decline, when players stop chasing goals of the game and start simply messing around.
Eh, I’ve seen a lot of “trauma reactions” to mentions of mass rez from people who joined during The Year of the Moth Meta, and so have never experienced mass rez for themselves.
My theory is that players who never actually played against mass res are using “it was OP!” claims as a coping mechanism for Moth Meta Trauma. After all, if the devs saw fit to put us though the Moth Meta, whatever ult Mercy had before must have been even worse… right???
The only thing worse than suffering is pointless suffering. And it would break these guys to admit that the Moth Meta was exactly that - it wasn’t “the lesser of two evils” like they want to believe, it was the devs trying to solve a small problem, but instead of fixing it they made it 1000x worse.
Surprised that it didn’t get me then. I played on Mei a bit during that time, on Total Mayhem in arcade.
If Overwatch ever had illustration of big wars in miniature - dozens of kills, yet almost no progress - that was it. Nearly half an hour of non-stop combat for last objective, with both Mercy players acting as reinforcement drop.
Then again, it’s nothing compared to TF2, where defense easily gets so strong, that one round can last over an hour.
In their opinion, it was Mercy mains, who asked for E ability, that caused whole mess to happen. Except no one asked for full rework, just for something to fill the gap between healing and resurrect.
And same people will argue forever, that developers never make mistakes.
Console shaming has been discussed extensively in this thread, and as such, has become part of the discussion
I do find it interesting that although many individuals have strayed from the precise topic outlined in the original post, the statement above chooses to call out and upbraid one single individual rather than all such individuals
That said, I have no further input on this piece of this discussion at this time
Except for Rez on E, which is boring because it’s super easy once you got the decision making down once and you just stand still for a while. GA and healing/dmg boost, even pistol feels amazing! But Rez and Valk is horrible.
Excuse you, I was responding to someone else, and you don’t get to dictate how I respond or what I respond to. The discussion I was having was about whatever I wanted it to be about. So YOU let it go.
-Give Mercy another aspect to be mastered at. Not necessarily buffing her that is.
-Nerf Ana (needed at this point)–> Mercy, and the other supports are indirectly buffed.
Or you could kill two birds with one stone, and make Mercy’s new “aspect to be mastered” some kind of cleanse/dispell ability.
Half of why Ana is so strong is because no one can cure anti-nade’s effects, and instead have to wait for it to wear off… By which time it’s often too late to save them.
If anyone should be capable of curing Ana’s bionade poison, it should the doctor that literally invented Ana’s biotic tech and is pissed that it’s being used to hurt people.
There is nothing in Mercy’s kt that requires her to stand still. The player can choose to have her stand still, but in most circumstances, I’d advise against it
I find both rez and Valkyrie to be fun to use and quite impactful, myself
Since we’re going into 2-2-2 meta, I don’t think there should be any drastic nerfs or buffs until things settle down. Just a few minor things to help the healers would be:
Have Moira heal through barriers again.
Baptiste Regenerative Burst CD ability reduced from 15 to 12 seconds or 10 seconds and deduce healing output from 150 to 120.
Mercy healing output 55 (Valkyrie 65).
I think that’d be decent comprises without nerfing Ana.
