Hey, all! Appreciate the information you’ve all provided so far. Today’s patch should help alleviate the issues. Some Middle East servers weren’t active for some folks and our team should have patched this up
If you’re still experiencing high latency issues, please restart the game after todays patch and double check that it is up to date. Next to the play button, please check the version. It should be on Version 1.47.1.0.68126
Let us know if the latency is still high after the latest patch. Please include the server names such as AMS1 using the Network Graph to check (CTRL+SHIFT+N) and the WinMTR test requested above.

so after this patch, i made custom with Bahrain server and latency is like before…
but something strange happened! in the second try the server name changed (i am sure i DID put it on Bahrain) , and the latency went from 230 to 150-160! then i restarted the custom match and server ips and names and latency went like before (230 PING AND …)
The server name was always [mesl] (if the server name is the words on the left)

this is the Winmtr test for the time ip was was different and latency went 150-160:
(I remember something to say that our Minister of Information and Communications Technology mr Azari said in 2 days ago that the fiber connection to uae and south arab countries is cut off and it has not yet fixed, maybe that 160 latency ping is the real one and its high cuz of this … but my first post was for 7 days ago! and 160 latency is soo high for a close server!)

again sorry for ma bad english
I’m from Iran . i get 270ms when connecting to ME servers compared to better 150 that EU servers provide. unfortunately the last update didn’t help either (april 21st).
in other games like fortnite we get 60 ms connecting to ME servers.
im in console so im not sure there is a way to send WinMTR test.

We appreciate the requested tests. If you are in the middle east, please keep them coming using these steps
However, I noticed that some of you were posting about unrelated issues on this thread. Please be advised that the problems we are looking into for Middle Eastern players are not the same as those affecting people in Europe. Please post in another thread if you are having that problem, as we cannot investigate multiple large scale issues in one thread. I’ve deleted several off topic posts from this thread to try to keep this focused on Middle Eastern players.

My latency was good after lunching the middle east servers, but now it has been 3 days my latency is really high it goes up to 150, even the matchmaking switched me to eu servers because i get a lower latency there.
Note: I live in Dammam city which is very near to bahrain, So I should get a very low latency but I didnt get that for the past couple of days

How do I know which server I’m playing in? Since the new Middle East server dropped me and my friend have been experiencing packet losses even though our internet connections are completely fine. We’re PS4 players so we can’t even know our MS (PS4 players should have an option to show MS instead of those 2 icons of packet losses and such).
Just for those wondering, I’m from Morocco and I’ve tried playing on the Middle East servers once in PC but it was frustrating, so all I ask for that N.W Africa get to play on Europe servers instead of ME server to avoid getting packet losses and lag.

Hello everyone, Playing from Kuwait (ISP is Ooredoo, the tower is literally next to my house) My ping 2 weeks ago would normalize at 50~70 on ME servers, 130~170 on EU servers and 120~ on NA servers (Because that makes sense, sure lol). And as of yesterday, the ping on ME servers while entering Overwatch connected to EU servers (I’m guessing thats the way it should normally be, and has been since ever?) it goes from 150~250 and for some reason even the 150ms feels laggier than 170 european connections. Can you please get your routing fixed together? This can’t be simply on my end, I also am an Admin 365 and Host a website/DNS and other stuff from here and Dubai and the ping doesn’t get nearly as much. Is there any sort of fix/troubleshooting I can do to resolve this? Will this even be resolved?

yeah for some reason one day it just got fixed but got to stay alert it may come back lets just hope it doesn’t

Hi. So i play on ps4 and I’ve been getting 90 ping commecting to the middles East servers but for whatever reason the past week the game keeps putting me in EU servers where I get 200 ping.
The problem seems to have solved itself for others who I’m assuming play on PC. So how do i solve the issue for myself, how do i go bacl to joining Middle East servers?

mine is 240 ping still (for me server) and still im on eu servers (120 ping)
Hey all,
It looks like there’s been strong improvements to the connection to the Middle Eastern servers following some work on cables in the area. If you’re in the Middle East and you’re still having latency problems, make sure to check that you’re on the correct server group. If you find that you are on the wrong server, that’d be a different issue and we’d want to start a new thread for that to make sure we’re collecting the right reports.
@Noble - do you want to create a new thread for “Middle Eastern Players connected to EU servers” for me and link it here?
@Everybody Else - has ping to the Middle Eastern servers improved? The number of reports of issues we’ve received has gone down drastically.

A. my latency to Bahrain server is still 250 and more… (note that before was 150 and its still high) and tnx to god I connect to EU servers that has a 115 ping.

see i play some games that have ME servers too and their ping is not high!
for example I play DOTA 2 in Dubai server and the latency is 60, so the connection is good for this game but ow ME servers are in Bahrain west of Dubai.
I dont know maybe there is a clue here that whats the problem and maybe its not for any fiber cutting to south countries or…

I live in Turkey. I get 180 ms to Bahrain server in game, but on WinMTR, I get around 60 ms.

Off-topic: I made a post on EU forums 3 weeks ago about very high ping, but I’ve had no support on that yet. I tried creating a ticket, but it says “Cannot create a ticket. This may be a temporary error.”. I’m kind of stuck.
