After we playing 5v5 for a long while, what're your opinion?

Completely superior to 6v6 because it got flashbang removed :100:

You realize the devs could have just did this to 6v6 if they chose to lol?

But did they tho

Well yes but those are side modes fun modes 6v6 would become a main mode. People would play 6v6 instead of 5v5 but no one plays mayhem or no limits instead of the main modes rather when they want a pause from the main mode.

No but it sounds like your issue is you didnā€™t like flashbang, not that you didnā€™t like 6v6.

6v6 had nothing to do with flashbang.

Itā€™s ok but i miss tank duos and synergy, i miss having a second beefy b**** to stand in front or back of the team or dive the widow.

Might i also add that the 5v5 gigatank balancing hurts as a non tank main because when your tank is bad or dead. The fight is lost as the enemy tank can just walk you down with little recourse.

Why would that even matter when the end result is people playing the game? More people playing = good for the game. More people = more MTX sales. No matter which mode is the more popular of the two, if Blizzard was smart, they would balance accordingly for the most popular mode to keep the most players happy. This shouldnā€™t be a ā€œdeveloper prideā€ thing, but catering to what customers want to make the most money off them.

My guess is they wanna wait with any big changes till the pve drops and when that fails they will start making changes to the shop or even 6v6

Cause people then want balance changes for that mode and that will become the biggest talking point and when they then balance something for 6v6 the 5v5 side will complain and with that one side will always be angry

Completely agree that this should not be a pride thing.

Still indebted to 5v5 for getting rid of it

Itā€™s garbage, nobody takes the game seriously anymore itā€™s a wash.

I think 5v5 sucks.
The game was built for tanks being the protectors of the team and not just fat dps.

With only one tank that canā€™t even block much, unless your dps/support can take care of themselves (usually snipers, divers or very specific hit scans), youā€™d find yourself in many problematic situationsā€¦

Iā€™m not claiming ow1 was in perfect balancing, the opposite is true. and I do think power shifting tanks from protections to hp was a good idea with how much protections controlled ow1 - but what ow2 does is moving ow2 further from what ow1 was about, by trying to make it look like any other general fpsā€¦ Making characters less unique (Except for the support role, that for some reason still works pretty well) and more generalā€¦

man do u remember the queue times for tank back then? tank players were leaving. support queue times were like 7 minutes dps 13 in late ow1 something HAD to be done

I personally liked 6v6 more simply because it was more enjoyable. Idk why they didnā€™t try the reworked characters in a 6v6 environment because that would have been phenomenal. Most of the balance issues we have today are because of 5v5. I would even say that souj/mercy might not have been that big on issue if it was still 6v6

But this didnā€™t have to be done.

People who like 5v5 say they like it because itā€™s faster.

Watching my friends play it enough, I can tell you for certain itā€™s faster alright. Fast enough you can just choose when or when not to care about games anymore and go for the longest aspect of the game: waiting to find a game.

Iā€™d rather deal with tank synergies over what we got as a replacement and slowly basically everyone else is agreeing.

i remember when i heard the 5v5 news i was like ā€œoh thats genius, they can halve the demand for tanks and queuetimes will be solved! (as long as they give tons of love to supports that is)ā€

anyway idk what they could have done else. making tanks feel strong and empowered attracts more players to the role than making tanks stand still and hold m1 behind their shields.

I mean what time are we talking about? late ow1 where basically no new content came or earlier? If its late then yeah thats normal the same as when i now go into tf2 and dont find a game in 5sec.

I would say tanks now push more people away than attract because now tanks are the main focus the main reason for win or loss what puts a lot of responsibility and stress on tank players and a lot of players especially casuals dont want that

if its ā€œnormalā€ then of course they have to do something to make waves, the game was shrinking rather than growing. i dont get the point ur making there.

and sure, its more demanding to play tank and that stresses people out, myself included until just this week. as tank you have to play at least 1 of the 3 main categories of tank (brawl dive poke) and swap all the time and its hard to upkeep that casually. plus everyone flames you if you lose

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut. it also halved the amount of tank players the game needed soooo id say it benefitted queuetimes. queueing allroles isnt gonna guarantee me tank 100% anymore, thats proof enough in itself.

Im saying when there isnt new content of course people will stop playing.

Yes cause now when queing all roles you get 90% of the time support now the problem isnt tank its support. So by your logic we will soon get 4v4 with just one support.

People were arguing the same things back then that they are doing now, half of them predicting aspects that we got. Others were thinking it would fix their problems. But they were blanket statements. Now I would like to quote something of 2021:

So when late 2022 occurred, guess what happened?

Not calling you out. I consider you my buddy, but I thought you would find this statement interesting from 2021 and someone that could most likely confirm since you were both there in that forum as well as a current victim to it:
