So who seriously wanted 5v5?

Like who here asked Blizzard for 5v5? I’m being serious, I don’t recall any threads about 5v5 before blizzard announced it. Unlike role queue, where we debated about it before it was officially announced, nobody talked seriously about 5v5.

And so far it seems the vast majority of people don’t like it. From casuals to competitive, forum goers to OWL players, it seems that nearly everyone hates this change. Sure, there are some exceptions but I’m asking who’s this change for exactly if none of us wants it?

No one, but Blizzard lost over 2 million players in the last year or two and are bleeding talent like never before, so going 5v5 will make it easier on the matchmaker due to a lack of players, content, and overall enthusiasm.

Specific solutions don’t need to be asked for.

It is a fact that a number of the issues that 5v5 intends to fix have been complained about by the community for years.

The devs for balance reasons.

Uh no.

It’s for…science.
…and arithmetics.

They can’t make tanks fun to play, so they making the game need less tanks. Note that solo tank also bring a whole lot of different issues, and will likely make a lot of tank play DPS instead.

Well, this is from February 2020:

Ill stay play every single role. I just hope the game is fun. 5 v 5 will also help with server lag and less random punches from a second tank.

The speed and chaos of the game is something I’m not a big fan of, so I’ll be on board if 5v5 really fixes that.

Apparently.
It’s suppose to speed up the game.
Pacing wise i mean.

i read enthusiasm as euthanization and figured it made sense with what 5v5 will end up being

Let me rephraise then: the chaos specifically. I meant the speed at which everything happens, not the overall time of the round. I actually wouldn’t mind if rounds were longer.

We don’t always know what we want. Who ever asked for Overwatch to begin with?

Agreed.

I generally do well if there’s no speedboost around (as a small example). But i do agree sometimes things happen lightning fast.

It’s not about wanting it…

It’s about the community not changing how they play and the problems that causes in a 222 system

It’s essentially a forced change

dps players and anyone with a brain who can read q time numbers.

having 1:10 ratio from poeples choice - but then designing a game around 1:1 … seems kinda dumb

Thats exactly opposite for me.

If I want slow 5v5 game, I can just play Valorant…
OW is chaos, speed and fun

Thing I dislike most in OW is TurtleWatch - literally turtling and not having fun.

someone has only read the title “becomes a 1-2-2” and not the reasons for this decision. and you know, what many were asking was a solution to the usual problems that tanks bring to the meta every time when you start abusing them at medium to high levels.

let’s not start to distort the meaning of what obviously everyone is showing: worry, which is completely different from “disapproval”. whoever starts talking about the new tank passives has always expressed concern about which tank enters the meta, not a rigorous disapproval for the 5v5. the well-informed understand that these are things to try in order to really learn them.

i’d prefer 8v8, really.
