Forced 48-52% winrate rotation is one of the most tyranic MM-system you could place in a game… It’s almost like a communist leader forcing equality to all even if you play good or bad… Play good? Not so fast… there are other scrubs out there that are at 49% winrate that has to get to 50% winrate… so you got 50,2% winrate? you just sit thight in that mental institute and act like a mentally ill person while we sort a couple of 49%'s and 48%'s…
This game needs a better MM system… MM system where literally ONE good player can change the course of a match. It’s frustrating to see the inexperienced picks in the drafts and the inexperienced plays during tha match…
but the ranked system has never felt fair. The skill difference between two players of the same rank is asinine. It’s not just “people are different with different hero’s”, some players consistently over or under perform.
Placements tier skipping and quick match seeding are some of the biggest culprits to HoTS downfall.
They fixed it (sort of) but it was far too late and the damage was done. The dev team failed to understand the importance of a fair ladder in an online competitive game like this. I don’t understand why they were so dense for so long about it.
Hero league should have been the main mode of the game. People should have wanted to invest time/energy to get better, but since HL was soooooo terrible they just left the game instead. The ranked players are the one’s who grow/recruit/advertize for the game the most.
Forced loses don’t exist but… interestingly as you get better and win more, the system will throw some potatoes, feeders or AFKs in your team to see if you can carry them. If you continue to win in spite of that, the system will put you in really horrible comps in case you’re playing QM.
I’d agree with this on a technicality: there is no intent to force you to lose. The system is not out to get anyone.
However, there are such things as practically unwinnable and unloseable games, so in that sense a team can be forced to lose, as their is no other plausible outcome.
But that’s just a result of negligence or bad design, not malicious intent.
That’s the mentor-buddy system, one of the stupidest things Dabiri came up with during his run as Lead.
Ideally, the more you win, the better both your teammates and your opponents should be, and the opposite should happen when you lose. Eventually, you settle into a point where you are roughly even with your teammates and opponents across matches.
In reality, the matchmaker with often put people with winning streaks against opponents of higher skill but teammates of lower skill in the expectation that you will help carry your teammates but still be challenged by your opponents. The reverse happens for people on losing streaks.
As a result, two things happen:
You get matched with worse teammates when you win a lot, so you lose when they get too heavy to carry.
You get matched with better teammates win you lose a lot, and they will often carry you.
This inevitably leads to the win and loss streaks that have plagued the game (and QM matches especially) since this system was implemented.
A virtually unwinnable game is frustrating enough, but 5+ in a row? No wonder this game turned so toxic during Dabiri’s run.
Forced 50 is a dumb idea because it would require way more than just creating regular MM.
Forced 50 would require accurate skill evaluation, just like normal MM and both would have the same outcome, people with 50% winrates.
But on top forced 50 would need to somehow float the rocks it tries to use to sink peoples winrates, you cant make the rock float by nature and it will sink, you couldnt use a bad player consistently to try to force winrates, say you have a rock in Dia 3,you just cant use the player more than a couple times before they drop to Bronze, not to take into the account that these players would have 20% winrates then which would go against the thing its trying to achieve, 50%.

So @Op … you think you should be able to hold a 60% wr against ppl as skillful as you are? Is that how a “good” matchmaker supposed to work? Endless winstreaks?..
No, carryable matches… Instead of 2 scrubs dragging 3 good players down in one team, 2 good players should be able to carry 3 scrubs in the same team.
Otherwise whats the point huh? What’s the point of sitting throu a match you KNOW that you’ve lost? Why get forced to waste time for literally nothing?
It’s a massive torture to sit there as a good player predicting every skill shot, every combo, every gank, every camp attempt as your allies walk into every single one of them.
A Carry system is a overhaul of the current state of the game sure, but don’t get into the forums having the guts to defend it.
Something has to be done. Me like many others are highlighting that MM is one of the biggest problems with this games competitive aspect. Don’t come here to defend it. Oviously noone is asking for a 60% winrate system, we’re asking for a change… the change is up to the devs.

Dunning-Kruger effect. You think you are better than you are and you see your allies worth than they are. You also don’t pay attention on how good/bad the enemies are.
Not talking about the fact that you are let’s say 10/10 with Uther so if you play with Uther you are really good but terrible as Maiev (1/10) for some reasons and when you play her you are worse than you usually are. In this situation ppl would say you are 1/10 player but when you are with Uther you are 10/10 player in the others’ eyes. So what is it then? And how should the MM know this and why should it care about this? There are also the factor that ppl are just better at some maps than on others, if you have different moods your performance can differ and so on and these factors are all in with 10 players/match. Can’t be manipulated so the game approach it with an easy method: rate the win/lose ratio and match ppl with that number. So you do play with ppl with similar skills but as I mentioned with my example, it’s pretty inaccurate match-by-match but mostly accurate on the greater scale.
Every game which has the MM has the exact same MM complains and whiners as HotS.
There is no forced 50-50 in ranked. I’m looking at my match history right now and I’m 30-12 if I filter to ranked games. That’s a 70%+ win ratio over a reasonable amount of games. Explain this please?
My three main “carry” heroes that I play (when I’m trying to rank up) are Arthas, Tyrande, and Raynor. I actually have an active post on this currently. This season I have a combined 20 wins and 3 losses on those three heroes in ranked.

It’s flawed and i have yet to see any reasonable explanation to it.
So pls don’t try to use various lables on me when you don’t properly understand the core context of my issue.
I have mastered aprox 3 heroes from all the roles for the various maps in the hero league rotation. I can’t blindly pick uther when the team needs other type of supports. So the picks differ, but to reduce the entire issue to one aspect of it is in my opinion very inaccurate.
You can have bad days and good days but at the end of the day the MM system does not have a good or bad moods, it calculates and adds the desired players to your team and the opponents team. You can have a perfectly good day, pick the best possible pick and still lose because the team drafts in a very inexperienced way…
If you have a slightly high winrate you will be faced with challenging opponents, if you have a too high winrate you will be matched against God’s customly chosen players with a blind tank and a deaf healer as assistance.
It’s the way the MM system is programmed to calculate and what it delivers and at what cost it delivers it that’s the problem here.

You will never be paired against “gods” because you are winning too much. You have zero data to support that and I have a bunch of data to refute your argument.

This game has been infamous for very POOR quality games and POOR matchmaking / inability to carry. Just because a grandmaster can climb from bronze to GM doesn’t mean a diamond player can climb out of plat.
The matchmaker was sht because blizzard screwed up hard when they implemented things like placements tier skipping, QM seeding to d3/msater and people smurfing/exploiting those policies.
The game’s dead, HoTS team was seen as a failure by the csuites so it doesn’t matter anymore though.
