W build (you can change the ult and the 1)

This is a short guide
A lot of you will write dont but stitches is very usefull.
I know he is concidered a non meta pick and people hate you for even scrolling over him.
But this blob gave me an insane winrate across multiple accounts.
Im winning 2/3 matches pretty reliable
And im terrible at landing long distance hooks and helping hands

Why pick him?
He is a fat radious tank who does great waveclear, dmg and has an insane healthpool who can take a lot of hits for your team.
And on top of all, he is easy, very disrubtive late game
When you have dmg around learn to stand your ground. You are incredible tanky

Should you take dmg for your team?
Yes while not facetanking everything you as a tank is the main defence when it comes to greedy opponents, camps invades and contesting objectives
That being said you should avoid unnessecary dmg like orpheas ethernal feast or a valla stacking on you when possible

First a few things

Never spam E, only use it when you are hurt below 70% health
Q can be used close up for a “stun”

Lets talk about the ultimates before use
Gorge: It can be used 2 ways
The most simple is gorge and run away for your team. Be aware of someone with mobility or diablo who can just get out without a sweat. This needs little explination because we all fell victem to it more then once.
The 2nd one it is a short range garenteed 4s “cacoon” you remove someone for 4s away from the field. This is perfect if the victim is a tank or has a nanoboost stimpack, abahat. Dont underestimate how long 4 seconds can feel without a 5th member.

The 2nd ultimate called vile infection is a slow You simply need to walk around your enemys or draw a line with the text “You shall not pass” They will try to escape, use this as an advantage, but your primairy job is to ult. Not to autoattack You can walk past to backline to seperate them from the frontline. Builds Lvl 1 Trust your healer > Patchwork creation Lots of regens > Hungry for more, but dont pick this on open maps like Battlefield or hanamura. In the early game be committed to do a lot split pushing Savor the flavor I cant really recommend, maybe only pick him a lot of damage over time AA build (this requires you to land a short range hook)

In fights:
Be very aggressive but stay an ETC powerslide away from your teammates. So they can deal damage around you. Your fat so if they try to go for your backline either just let them and block the rest of your team. Or use your body to hold them back

Early game
Rotate if possbile , if not just double soak as much as you can before the objective appears. Your pretty weak early game so focus on the soak.
If you have clueless teammates ask them to do camps. But be aware of camp invades.
For example dont show your face on the top of sky temple. Because the enemy will just invade your teammates

No love for Serrated Edge?

If your bad at hooking , no there is no love for sarrated edge :stuck_out_tongue:

To be fair, if you’re bad at hooking, you shouldn’t even play Stitches.
If you want to go AA stitches, you might as well go AA Diablo. You’ll sustain 2.5 times more in 3 sec. 0.91 * 1.5 * 0.02 vs 0.95 * 2 * 0.035
I’d agree that the build is somewhat ok below master. But, I wouldn’t recommend it even if it’s just to practice Stitches.

Tenderizer is an other story. It relies on AA, but it’s also his best one.

How boring :stuck_out_tongue: this game is about having fun, a neverdying stitches who blocks half the point on volskaya is fun
AA stitches build is all about doing everything yourself because your team sucks. Diablo doesn’t have a clear

I wish I could afford to pick him like I used to do. Heck, that’s mostly how I climbed from silver to diamond at the time. lvl 170 later and current elo, I’m being over shadowed by other tanks and tank players.

From my experience, the way to win is mostly about game ending long hooks, activating Putrid Bile and Shambling Horror.

Trying to be objective here:

Link

First one is using the AA build. He focuses on Hero dmg.
The second and third one is Leonblack. He focuses on scaling with his globes quest and soaking.
The fourth one is just a poor player hoping for game ending hooks and that won’t play him unless he’s on a 4-5 stacks with good coordinations.

Yeah this guide wasnt master orientated :stuck_out_tongue:
There you need to be more serious to win, but he is really strong below diamond because you can do everything after they buffed his W to do more Pve

Scrambling horror is my favorite 20, its so nice to not be slowed anymore

Yes, Shambling Horror is a life saving. I’m even considering going for the globes quest just because I like having MS on my heroes even if it overlaps with Putrid Bile.

Harder to miss at close range.

Yeah, “you might as well pick Diablo” or Johanna.
But even if you play him as a melee super tank, you have the option for occasional long ranged Hooks.

Harb is good at hooks but I guess in Na with pings its bad ;p
But what ive learned is there are 2 types to win outside of playing what your good at

Go full meta
Go the opiside direction

People underestimate stitches AA build more then a diablo even if diablo gets more value. So indirectly stitches can do more because he is not taken as a thread enough

When my team once was into master we did a full archon protect the ming comp for a few months. Just to throw them off balance. It was super effective

You can use the in-game format of builds instead so people don’t have to follow scary third-party links, like such [T1231323,Stitches].

Fun fact: Stitches is positively busted in aram [T3321211,Stitches]

Friendly reminded: Don’t pick Patchwork Creation unless your team has a surplus of healing sources.
15% doesn’t translate to much if you only have a single healer and while the takedown heal is nice it’s not entirely reliable. Savor the Flavor restores your mana as well as additional health to keep you fighting longer and Hungry for More gets crazy value in the late game if you manage to keep up the stacks. I wouldn’t pick it in lower league games though because getting 30+ globes can be very difficult if your team isn’t actively helping you or you aren’t allowed to rotate freely.

If stitches ever gets another buff I’d be willing to say he’s above average for a tank and viable

I usually go AA build on the occasions I play him (typically in ARAM). It’s amazing just how hard it can be to kill the meatbag when he’s healing for 2% of ~7,000+ health every 0.7 seconds.

Good guide, but I am confused about the title… I mean isn’t the answer obvious that you shouldn’t play Stiches in ranked, if you are bad at hooking. It’s like playing a skillshot hero (Nova, Ana), but being bad with skillshots… The hero lose his effectiveness…
