The reporting system didn’t kill this game.

There are plenty of reasons that the game died; bad match making, competition in an already saturated market, the death of HGC, and repeatedly having issues with ranked.

I sincerely doubt that the reporting system played a significant role in the game’s demise.

I agree, the reporting system wasn’t the only factor alone that hurt this game. But it sure didn’t help and I personally know a few masters players who quit because of it.

Honestly, it’s the homogenizing every hero and game into a simple brawlfest that killed the game for me.

When the game first came out, there were multiple ways to win a game, then came the laning changes, stealth changes, and the removal of specialist presence.

Now, it’s just a brawl. Brawl for objectives, brawl for camps, brawl for bosses, brawl brawl brawl!

well the CS/Hots people got ban happy… blizz lost users and so they got fired.

In the end they just hastened their own layoffs.

It is so tiring hearing the same old crybabies screaming about the report system.

I have played since day one and I play lots of games and I’m often pretty grouchy and could have been punished many times and yet I’ve yet to be silenced.

You know why I haven’t? It’s because it takes -MANY- reports to get silenced. If you get silenced, in every normal instance, you probably deserved it.

Grubby is a youtube exception, you and all the other crybabies are not.

100% wrong. If you ban your playerbase you do not have players. Everything else you can work on and if you communicate it people can be patient. Not being able to play the game now that’s a fast way to alienate people. It’s like having a McDonalds and banning everyone and then wondering why they cannot sell a hamburger.

no your ignorant. You don’t know how the system works. It’s biased toward certain players. There’s tons of SUPER toxic kids who are toxic every single game who don’t ever get silenced.

Yeah, and lose all heroes, skins, player level, gold, mounts, shards, loot boxes. I get it though instead of getting new players just ban the existing so they can buy the hero bundles to get back into the game… right?

Reporting system banning players in double increments since ALPHA did NOT help this game. Anyways the fanboys who spam report on forums and act like everything is “OK” also doesn’t help.

what SHOULD have been implemented AGES ago is a simple report system. If you don’t like what people are SAYING… YOU LOCAL MUTE THEM. Don’t like that they are FEEDING ON PURPOSE… REPORT THEM. Simple as that. The fact people get BANNED from gameplay for WORDS shows the SJW environment that ACTIVISION BLIZZARD has allowed to grow.

Its ok though… look at their stocks! Most profitable year ever and fires 8% of work force LAWL. Keep defending BLIZZARD

Yes this is true, I read somewhere it’s volume of reports over a period of time. But at any rate, as you pointed out it’s indiscriminate, which I think is part of the problem.

Funny story… MANY times players have made smurf accounts and REPORTED their own SMURF accounts multiple times… FOR random reasons… guess what happened? THOSE ACCOUNTS got silenced! PRO BLIZZ SYSTEM at work. These reports ARE NOT checked contrary to what these terrible CM’s pretend to do.

That doesn’t mean it’s biased, but it does mean it’s flawed. It is highly unlikely unless you’re of celebrity status that you’ll be punished for normal play.

Hey mates! I’m an average Gold player with level 1000 (almost 5k games) and I own all heroes at level 10. Heroes of the Storm is and will always be one of the best games I’ve ever played!

I received my first silence at the end of last season, probably because I like writing in chat too much. This mostly includes shot-calling and discussing with teammates, but I am a passionate player and I admit to the occasional swearing and to the classic “GG EZ NOOBS” & “I LOVE YOU MORALES”. I always play to win and I almost never intentionally feed or afk (it happened in very few QM games, I was tilted and I regret it).

I am currently on a break and I don’t think I will be coming back until the report system will be changed. The mute button exists and should be used for any player who “abuses” chat or pings. In my opinion, the only players who should receive penalties are the ones who intentionally feed or afk.

Maybe it’s because I am from a former communist country, but to me free speech is highly important. And I will not spend my time and money in a game that silences me and threatens to permanently ban my game account (that’s from the silence email I received).

I seriously hope the reporting system will change so I can start playing with you guys again. All the best from a formerly very happy player!

Right because you can only get those things by buying them right? It’s not like you get those things for free just by playing, you have to pay schrute bucks for them.
